- The Female Lead Always Comes Around [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 11 - Li Xiao Is Gone Again
Perhaps it was the lingering effects of the drug, but Li Xiao, having just forced herself through her pride, lost energy from not knowing how to control it. She stared at Ning Shu, her eyes tinged with a soft, plaintive sadness.
Ning Shu chuckled and asked warmly, “What’s the matter?”
Li Xiao looked a little embarrassed, unable to speak outright. The drug still coursed through her veins, robbing her of reason. She could do nothing but bury her face into Ning Shu’s shoulder and bite, almost in venting frustration.
Used to Li Xiao’s usual aloofness, Ning Shu found her current state unexpectedly cute. She half-sat up, wrapping an arm around Li Xiao’s waist, and asked gently, “Do you want me to teach you, or…?”
Li Xiao made two small grunts and nuzzled her face against Ning Shu. Such a gesture would never have happened under normal circumstances, but the drug left her completely unaware of her actions.
Ning Shu had initially thought to wait, hoping the effects would wear off before anything happened. She didn’t want to be forced into intimacy with Li Xiao under these circumstances, making her “responsible.”
She wanted mutual consent, not a coerced encounter dictated by propriety.
But now… she simply couldn’t resist. Li Xiao’s clothes were half undone, her moist, longing eyes glimmered with a mixture of shyness and reproach. If Ning Shu could still resist, she would be a saint.
One hand wrapped around Li Xiao’s waist, the other spread her outer garment on the ground. Gently, she set Li Xiao on it.
Li Xiao’s body glowed red, feverish. The cold ground beneath her startled her briefly, but Ning Shu soothed her.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. You’ll feel better soon, trust me.”
Every movement Ning Shu made was tender, restrained, treating Li Xiao like a treasure. Every touch sent shivers down her spine. This was the best she could do under the circumstances.
She hoped that once Li Xiao regained clarity, her anger would have lessened and she wouldn’t go after her.
Ning Shu thought Li Xiao could only endure her, but unexpectedly, Li Xiao suddenly rose and pinned her underneath, her gaze heavy with countless emotions.
Ning Shu, assuming she was fully conscious, hesitated, “W-what… what’s wrong?”
“I’ve learned… now it’s my turn.”
Ning Shu blinked, unsure what she meant by “learned.”
Li Xiao’s actions soon made it clear.
A drugged woman could be terrifying. Ning Shu spent the entire night under exploration, until dawn when the exhausted, still-unsated woman finally fell into deep sleep.
Ning Shu glanced at the traces left on both of them, dragged her weary body to fetch some water, and helped Li Xiao clean herself. Then she cleaned up in the nearby lake. Just as she stepped ashore, she heard faint voices.
“Is the Second Young Master really here?”
“His men always mark the trail. The mark ended here, let’s keep searching.”
Ning Shu hid behind a large tree, waiting until they left. She wasn’t afraid of them; in her current state, fewer complications were better.
Returning to the cave, she found only her outer garment. Li Xiao had vanished.
She froze, seeing two bright red marks on the clothing. Her heart skipped a beat, and she rushed out of the cave.
Li Xiao had surely woken, remembered last night, and left in anger. She might not be far ahead there was still a chance to catch up.
Ning Shu forced herself to follow, but after a short distance, the tracks abruptly disappeared.
She stopped, sighing, and touched the bite marks on her neck. So unwilling to face her?
Three days passed in a blink. Only two days remained until the martial arts tournament.
Ning Shu had no interest in it. She only wanted to find Li Xiao, but it was as if she had vanished from the world. No matter how hard she searched, there was no trace.
Realizing that relying on her own strength was futile, she bought a pile of supplements and headed to Yan Yue Palace.
She remembered the general entrance. Though she worried about being able to enter, Mo Shang was already waiting for her there.
“How did you know I’d come?”
Mo Shang held out his hand, showing a few white candies. “Here, I saved them for you. If you came a bit later, I would have eaten them all.”
Ning Shu took the candies and followed him inside. When they reached the main hall, she glanced at the spot where the luminous pearls were kept. The missing one had been replaced she wondered if anyone had noticed she’d taken it.
A pang of guilt made her avoid looking at her master, seated on the main throne.
Yue Tang glanced at Ning Shu, a faint curve appearing on his lips. Bold enough to risk stealing a priceless night pearl and still come to see him.
“Master, I heard you were unwell, so I came to check on you.”
Yue Tang shifted his position. His black hair cascaded to the floor, red robes against fair skin, sitting quietly like a painting.
“Oh? Just to see me?”
Ning Shu felt a little guilty under his gaze. She gathered courage to explain, but Yue Tang spoke first: “If that’s so, then you are considerate. You must be tired from your journey. Rest first.”
Ning Shu blinked, puzzled. Why wasn’t he following the usual protocol?
Seeing him about to leave, she quickly said, “Master, wait! I actually came for something I need your help with.”
The curve on Yue Tang’s lips widened slightly as he stopped, looking down at her. “What is it?”
“I want you to help me find someone. Her name is Li Xiao. She’s the daughter of the sect leader of Tian Shu Sect.”
Yue Tang stood tall, hands behind his back, looking down at Ning Shu, his expression unreadable.
“Tian Shu Sect’s leader’s daughter? Do you know Tian Shu is the top sect of the righteous path, the natural enemy of my Yan Yue Palace?”
Ning Shu had no concept of righteousness or evil, so she hadn’t realized this connection. His words left her momentarily stunned.
Yue Tang sighed. “Very well, we’ll deal with that later. I’ll send someone to find her. You should stay in the palace for now. I will speak with you again later.”
Relief and happiness replaced Ning Shu’s worry. She replied cheerfully, “Thank you, Master!”
Mo Shang escorted her to a room prepared for her, then went to Yue Tang.
“Tell her the whereabouts of that Li girl in an hour.”
Mo Shang nodded, lightly tapping his fan behind his back. The palace master was cunning he knew the truth of Li Xiao’s location but delayed telling the little palace master, ensuring she would be anxious.
Around six that evening, Ning Shu was summoned to the main hall. She expected it to be sparsely attended as before, but instead, a sea of heads filled the space below the steps.
Mo Shang and Wu Yin stood by her side; the other three guardians were on the opposite side. Yue Tang leaned on his hand, pretending to rest, before finally opening his eyes.
He scanned the assembly, his voice low but commanding. Before you stands the next palace master of Yan Yue Palace. From now on, treat her as you would me. In my absence, obey the orders of the little palace master.
