- The Female Lead Always Comes Around [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 23 - The Righteous Forces Besiege Yan Yue Palace
Li Xiao winced in pain, but she held herself still, bracing Ning Shu’s waist so she could bite without too much effort.
“Don’t rush. Bite as long as you need,” she said softly.
The lying woman again!
Ning Shu’s fangs pierced the skin, drawing bl00d into her mouth. She greedily sucked it in like a child, and, miraculously, the pain in her body began to ease, bit by bit.
Li Xiao’s wound grew larger as Ning Shu’s awareness slowly returned. By the time the pain completely subsided, Ning Shu realized what she had done.
She shoved Li Xiao away, taking in the crosshatch of bite marks and bl00d across her chest. Her gaze darkened.
She wanted Li Xiao to leave, but before she could speak, everything went black, and she lost consciousness.
Li Xiao caught her immediately, checking her pulse before finally relaxing.
For the first time since being poisoned, Ning Shu slept soundly through the night. The nightmares that had plagued her vanished, leaving her with her first true rest in a long while.
Li Xiao stayed by the bed all night without sleeping. She wanted to understand why Ning Shu had acted that way, but her pulse offered no clues.
When the first light of dawn spilled into the room, Ning Shu awoke.
A flash of cold steel appeared at her neck.
Li Xiao opened her eyes, calm and unafraid for her own safety, only concerned for Ning Shu. “How do you feel? Is it still hurting?”
Ning Shu’s eyes were cold and distant, as chilling as the blade at her throat.
She said nothing, and Li Xiao remained silent as well. She knew Ning Shu hated her.
“I remember telling you to leave. Do you not understand human words, Miss Li?”
Li Xiao stared at her without blinking, emotions unreadable. Ning Shu pushed the sword forward slightly, cutting Li Xiao’s thin skin. Bl00d welled up, yet she didn’t flinch, her expression unchanging.
Ning Shu tightened her grip on the sword. Her voice was cold: “Don’t think I’m afraid to kill you.”
“If it will make you feel better, I have no complaints,” Li Xiao replied quietly.
Ning Shu’s veins bulged, her fingers whitening as she pressed the blade forward. Bl00d gushed from Li Xiao’s neck, staining her white clothes red, almost seductively.
“Get out! Don’t let me see you again!” Ning Shu slammed the sword into a pillar and turned her back.
How laughable, Ning Shu. When someone tries to kill you, they show no mercy, yet you can’t even hurt her. Truly hopeless!
Li Xiao slowly rose from the foot of the bed and walked behind Ning Shu, her voice hoarse. “What happened last night… tell me, please?”
A mocking smile tugged at Ning Shu’s lips. Through gritted teeth, she said, “Why should I care what you think? You’d better disappear from my sight immediately, or I’ll really kill you!”
Li Xiao’s lips moved, but no words came out. The wound on her neck still bled, and her chest was drenched in red.
“Take care of yourself. No matter what happens, always ensure your safety.”
Her father had secretly gathered the leaders of various sects recently. There was no doubt he had ulterior motives.
After last night, Ning Shu’s internal power was still depleted. She might not be a match for strong enemies. Until she handled everything herself, she could not afford to be harmed.
The words were ironic to her. She shivered, then a surge of cold energy burst from her body. The sword on the pillar behind her resonated with her strength, ringing sharply in the quiet room.
Li Xiao’s eyes darkened, her pale lips parting. “I’ll go now,” she said softly.
Ning Shu never turned. Only when the door closed did the heavy pressure in the room dissipate. The sword clattered to the floor, returning her focus.
Perhaps it was just her imagination, but she thought she heard a hint of crying in Li Xiao’s voice.
Ning Shu glanced at the white figure fading into the crowd outside and laughed bitterly.
How foolish… the one who had injected Shura into her could never feel pity. Perhaps all the gestures and words had been carefully designed, meant to wound her again.
Her eyes turned cold, fists clenched.
Next time they meet, she would be an enemy. No mercy, no lingering feelings—only death or defeat.
Ning Shu stayed in the inn until afternoon. Once her internal power had recovered to eighty percent, she left the city. People had been following her, but she ignored them. Only when she reached a deserted area did a dozen men suddenly jump out from the grass, surrounding her.
The leader was terrifying, his face split by a long scar that divided it in two.
“Witch! Today is your death day!”
Ning Shu casually adjusted her ear, her expression cold. “I’ve heard that line many times. Usually, it’s the other side that dies.”
The scarred man charged with his broadsword, the others following in unison, showing no martial courtesy.
Ning Shu fought them all without losing ground, but it took some time to finish. Though her combat skills increased slightly after a Shura flare, her internal power was severely weakened for hours afterward.
No one knew of this except Rong Xue. Why would they ambush her now?
Li Xiao knew she had left just moments ago. There was no coincidence in this.
Her gaze darkened as she hurried back to Yan Yue Palace, a sense of foreboding pressing on her. She had to return quickly.
Outside, Yan Yue Palace was surrounded by righteous forces, led by Li Zhou. Under the pretext of clearing the remnants of the demon sect, he had gathered tens of thousands of warriors, all armed and ready. The normally quiet palace was now chaotic.
The leader of the Kongtong Sect stood beside Li Zhou, asking, “Master Li, when will we attack?”
Li Zhou gave a cold, sinister smile, watching the sun slowly descend. “Not yet. The time isn’t right.”
Though the Kongtong leader didn’t know when the right time would be, he dared not press further.
As the leader of Tian Shu, Li Zhou held the ultimate say. Everyone followed his orders.
Ning Shu sensed danger even before approaching. She moved to a hidden spot and met Mo Shang.
“Little Palace Master, Li Zhou has surrounded the palace. We can’t enter through the front.”
Ning Shu nodded. Together, they dispatched nearby righteous disciples and slipped through a narrow passage.
Three escape routes for a cunning rabbit…
It was Moon Tang who had had them dug, never expecting they’d be used today.
Once inside, they saw no trace of Wu Yin or the other three guardians. The palace was eerily quiet.
Meanwhile, the entrance of Yan Yue Palace opened from inside. A man in palace robes stepped forward, bowing respectfully. “Master Li, we’ve been waiting for you.”
Li Zhou gave him a light nod but kept his gaze fixed on the entrance, eyes gleaming with greed and malice.
“The time has come.”
