- Chapter 25 - Who Do You Think You Are? (Part 2)
Her crimson eyes darkened with intensity, staring at her like a starving wolf eyeing its prey.
“I’ll give you a choice,” she said. “If you don’t want this, leave now.”
Xiao Xiao didn’t move. After a long pause, she whispered, “I want it.”
Her voice was still rough and hoarse, but to Ning Shu, it sounded like a spark igniting something uncontrollable. Ning Shu lowered her head and kissed her this time harsher than before. Xiao Xiao’s lips and tongue were bitten, tasting of bl00d. Ning Shu swallowed it, and soon new bl00d replaced what was lost.
Those lost in madness have no gentleness in them. Ning Shu’s kisses were a storm, leaving bruises of varying sizes on Xiao Xiao’s tender skin. Eventually, she broke through the boundaries of their secret place, causing Xiao Xiao to curl up in pain.
Ning Shu’s mind cleared slightly, and her tone was awkward as she asked, “Should we… stop?” Truthfully, she wasn’t very experienced and wasn’t sure what the right thing to do was.
Xiao Xiao pulled her into her arms, kissed her cheek, and whispered, “It’s okay. I can handle it.”
Feeling Xiao Xiao slowly relax, Ning Shu resumed her movements. Amid the haze of passion, Xiao Xiao shed tears and whispered near her ear, “I’m yours. Always yours.”
Ning Shu heard her, but didn’t respond. She didn’t want to add more burden to the few days she had left.
If she remained merciless, everyone could live well after she was gone.
After that, Xiao Xiao became the one in control. Using her uninjured arm, she cared for Ning Shu tenderly. The carpet was littered with evidence of their love, and the faint music from the upper floors masked their sounds. No one else could know what had happened here.
“Li Xiao… do you hate me?” Ning Shu asked hazily, curled in Xiao Xiao’s embrace.
Xiao Xiao tightened her arms and replied in a hoarse voice, “Young Mistress, you’ve mistaken me. I’m Xiao Xiao.”
Ning Shu didn’t say anything. She turned and bit the wound on Xiao Xiao’s chest, mumbling, “I must be confused… how could you, a hideous thing, be her? Li Xiao is so beautiful, like a fairy from heaven.”
Xiao Xiao inhaled sharply in pain, her hands tracing down Ning Shu’s neck, beginning another round before Ning Shu could protest.
The moonlight dimmed, but the temperature in the room kept rising. Dawn crept over the horizon, veiled in mist, as Ning Shu slept in Xiao Xiao’s arms, the crimson mark on her brow vivid and dripping with life.
Xiao Xiao stared at the black pattern spreading across Ning Shu’s chest, her gaze darkening.
Ning Shu slept deeply, which astonished Xiao Xiao, who had long suffered from insomnia. When she opened her eyes, she saw pale skin before her and Xiao Xiao’s shining eyes above it.
Despite not sleeping all night, Ning Shu seemed utterly refreshed, full of energy.
Ning Shu didn’t know what to say. Pulling the blanket around herself, she sat up and said coldly, “Don’t think that just because you climbed into my bed, I’ll treat you differently. You’re still a maid.”
Xiao Xiao seemed unfazed, turning her back to get dressed, her back covered in intersecting scratches. Ning Shu’s expression stiffened, and she looked away.
“Young Mistress… do you need me to help you dress?”
“No!”
Ning Shu hurriedly pulled on her clothes. She tripped on the blanket while getting out of bed, stumbling forward. Xiao Xiao immediately caught her. The loosely fastened veil slipped down.
