Gao Luoshen was woken up by the crowing of a rooster. For a moment, her mind was blank, then she got up in a fit of rage and ordered Fangze to have the rooster that had disturbed her slumber butchered.

When she woke up again, the sun was already high in the sky, and she saw not Fangze’s face but Gao Chun’s cold, indifferent one.

Gao Luoshen thought she was dreaming. She sat up, mumbled a few things, and then lay back down.

Gao Chun’s hearing was excellent, and she heard words like “seeing a ghost in broad daylight” and “this damn debt collector.” Such vulgar language didn’t sound like something a young lady from the Duke’s Estate would say. And when had she ever offended this Second Sister? She had mostly avoided her, but here she was, putting her in the “debt collector” category.
