The Film Queen’s Live-In Son-in-Law is the King of the Women's Kingdom (GL) - Chapter 3

As Shen Ji and Yu Chiyin walk out, the party is in full swing. On a stage, the youngest daughter of the Yu family, Yu Keke, is cutting a massive, extravagant cake.

Shen Ji silently judges the overly fancy cake and Yu Keke’s big pink dress and huge hair bow, but her good manners stop her from saying anything. Yu Chiyin, standing beside her, simply says,

 “Boring.”

That contradictory feeling of world-weariness was there again. Shen Ji is struck by Yu Chiyin’s subtle, bored expression and asks what she would find interesting. 

“Do you want to do something fun?” 

Shen Ji heard herself ask. Yu Chiyin laughs and says she wants to cause a scene, like flipping over the twelve-story cake. Yu Chiyin didn’t finish the rest. She also wanted to use the cakes as weapons to smash every sanctimonious person at the banquet. 

The thought was so satisfying, and she smiled happily. Shen Ji, who has an adventurous side, agrees that it’s a good idea. Yu Chiyin, seeing Shen Ji’s eagerness, quickly pulls her back and says,

“I was just kidding”.

However, even if they didn’t seek trouble, it would inevitably find it. Regardless of their status, their striking looks alone made it hard to ignore them, even if they seemed to be seeking quiet retreat.

Suddenly, Yan Li, the man from the previous chapter, reappears, a little out of breath. He’s still trying to get Yu Chiyin to go see her family. Yu Chiyin is clearly annoyed and tells him,

“Mr. Yan, we are not close.”

He awkwardly tells her that her father, the head of the Yu family, sent him to get her. 

“Well… Uncle Yu asked me to invite you over.”

Shen Ji stared at him silently, looking him up and down. Shen Ji was 173cm tall, so she only wore low-heeled shoes when she left the house, making her look a bit shorter than Yu Chiyin, who was clearly 172cm tall and wearing 7cm high heels.

With Shen Ji by her side, she might be able to distract herself from those annoying people. Otherwise, Yu Chiyin wondered if she might actually do something irreversible and impulsive.

Shen Ji nodded, 

“Let’s go,”

motioning for the idiot man to lead the way. Yan Li’s lips twitched, but she couldn’t bring herself to refuse. Shen Ji thought to herself that if she and Yu Chiyin got to know each other better, if they became true friends, she would tell her about a country called Changyuan, where there were no annoying, idiot men. 

They walked toward the center of the banquet hall, attracting numerous glances. Yan Li attempted to walk alongside Yu Chiyin, but every time he slowed down, Shen Ji and Yu Chiyin would speed up.

He sped up, and the other two slowed down again, two or three steps, always keeping their distance. It was a naked disdain. Shen Ji felt a surge of excitement. Finally, she was the center of gossip and made her life more interesting.

As they walk toward the center of the party, Yu Chiyin’s younger sister, Yu Keke, is upset. It’s her 18th birthday, but Yu Chiyin is stealing all the attention just by being there. Yu Keke complains to her mother, He Wei, a woman who replaced Yu Chiyin’s biological mother.

“Mom~..”

Hearing her daughter’s complaint, He Wei, an experienced schemer, calms her daughter

 “Okay, talk to your sister later, don’t you want to enter the entertainment industry?”

She explains to Yu Keke that Yu Chiyin has a lot of power in the family because her biological mother, who divorced Yu’s father, made sure she got a large share of the company’s stock.

Yu Chiyin’s father, Yu Baichuan, greets her with a mix of pride and a business-like attitude. He tells her that Yu Keke wants to join the entertainment industry and wants Yu Chiyin to help her.

Yu Baichuan thought that He Wei was pregnant with a boy, so he was eager to divorce his ex-wife and marry He Wei into the family.After Yu Keke was born, Yu Baichuan was so angry that he just took a look at her in the hospital and left. 

It was not until three years later that He Wei gave birth to a son that she was able to keep her position as Mrs. Yu.

Although Yu Chiyin wasn’t a son, her exceptional talent was undeniable. Yu Baichuan had handed over some of the Yu Group’s operations to Yu Chiyin for years.He Wei’s own daughter had just reached adulthood, and her son was only fifteen. 

She worried that by the time her son grew up, Yu Chiyin would already control much of the Yu Group. Although Yu Baichuan had always said the family business would be passed down to his son, Yu Chiyin still held a significant stake.

When Yu Baichuan was eager for a divorce, Yu Chiyin’s mother, Jiang Qian, was straightforward, agreeing only to transfer a portion of her Yu Group shares to Yu Chiyin. At the time, He Wei considered five percent of the shares a bargain in exchange for the title of Madam Yu.

But now, she was dissatisfied. After all, she had nothing, her daughter and son were still young, and Yu Baichuan was only fifty-six. It was impossible for him to write a will so soon. He Wei’s calculations were well underway.

Yu Baichuan said, looking at his bright and dazzling eldest daughter with satisfaction in his eyes. She was indeed his daughter.

Yu Baichuan, used to giving orders, tells Yu Chiyin to help her sister. He Wei adds that the Yu family has the money to support Yu Keke, and with Yu Chiyin’s help as a famous actress, her daughter would have a clear path to success.

This is clearly saying that she wants to use Yu Chiyin to bring Yu Keke up. The Yu family is rich and can afford all the resources. She can also take advantage of Yu Chiyin, the sister of the three golden actresses. Is this paving the way?
