The 48-hour livestream had many viewers staying up late, unwilling to leave the livestream. But while Shen Ji and Yu Chiyin were sound asleep, the other three couples were trying their best to get as much screen time as possible in the last few hours. 

They didn’t know how the viewers were reacting to the show, but since they were on it, they wanted to do their best.

Le Qi, who was drunk and stumbling, and Lu Jun, who was seeing double, started playing a game of Pictionary. Le Qi drew a cat that looked like a blob, and Lu Jun guessed the Olympic rings because she saw multiple circles. They were so funny that viewers didn’t know whether to call them professional or just dumb and pretty.

Xue Xianyue and Xie Jiayin’s livestream was even more absurd. Xue Xianyue claimed she was a Daoist master and wanted to read Xie Jiayin’s palm. She stared at Xie Jiayin’s soft, pale hand until Xie Jiayin started to fall asleep. Then she said that Xie Jiayin had a good palm and was destined to be rich. 

She even asked if Xie Jiayin had ever been in a relationship and if she would consider marrying her. She was willing to change her last name to Xie.

Xue Xianyue’s parents were furious. And Xue Xianyue kept shouting “Rich mommy, I’m hungry, feed me~” into the camera. Xie Jiayin, on the other hand, was wondering where she went wrong in her life. With her destiny, she shouldn’t have less than six digits in her bank account, and that was with the two decimal places. 

If she wasn’t so poor, she would have been a musician, not on a dating show being chased by a drunk girl who wanted to be her sugar baby. She almost wanted to shout “Rich mommy, I’m hungry, feed me~” too.

The other couple was Qiao Chi and Mu Linqing. They were the only male-female couple on the show. Qiao Chi felt good about himself. In his mind, the other three couples were just there to make him look good. 

He secretly looked down on same-s3x couples. Same-s3x marriage had only been legal for a few years, but most people still saw same-s3x relationships as strange and unnatural. No one knew or cared why a person who never got a perfect score in middle school biology was talking about the laws of nature.

In his little corner, Qiao Chi was spouting his ignorant views while Mu Linqing just ignored him. She didn’t want to listen to her husband’s lecture on how a woman should act. She saw that Qiao Chi had no plans to go to bed, so she went to wash up and went to sleep.

The 48-hour livestream ended at 8 a.m. the next day. The couples had a live interview at 10:30 a.m. and then they could go home.

Yu Chiyin had one more day of vacation. She woke up wanting to show Shen Ji her hometown. Or maybe they could just fly back to their city early and spend the rest of the day and night at a hotel.

She was so lost in thought that she didn’t realize that the person hugging her hadn’t woken up yet. Since they started sharing a bed, every time Yu Chiyin woke up, Shen Ji would say “good morning” in her low, sleepy voice. But today, she didn’t move at all, even when Yu Chiyin turned to face her.

It was a bit hot under the covers. Yu Chiyin instinctively put her hand out and felt that the air conditioner was on a low temperature. This wasn’t the temperature Shen Ji usually set.

“Shen Ji?” Yu Chiyin was confused. She touched Shen Ji’s neck. It was warm but not hot. Shen Ji’s breathing was heavy. Yu Chiyin was still worried, so she pinched her nose. “Wife, wake up.” She looked at the time on the phone the show had provided. It was 8:25 a.m. It was still early.

“Mhm…” Shen Ji opened her eyes. Her head was heavy, and her throat was sore. Her voice was muffled. “Wife~” She only managed to say the word “wife” before she started coughing.

“You’re sick,” Yu Chiyin said, getting up quickly. She saw that Shen Ji was a bit out of it, so she told her to lie down. “Stay there. I’ll get you some cold medicine.”

She turned up the air conditioner before getting out of bed. “You must have gotten a cold because you wanted it to be too cold. You have a weak body. Don’t turn the air conditioner so low when you sleep.”

She walked to her suitcase. Shen Ji had already packed most of their things. Yu Chiyin easily found the medicine compartment. She had packed cold medicine, stomach medicine, and other common medicines.

She quickly went to boil some water and handed a thermometer to Shen Ji. “Take your temperature.”

The little wife, who had just gotten out of illiteracy, was confused. This was something she didn’t know. She didn’t know how to use a thermometer. Yu Chiyin sighed. She pulled Shen Ji’s shirt collar and put the thermometer under her armpit. “Hold it tight. Take it out in 5 to 10 minutes.”

Even though she had felt that Shen Ji’s body was only a little warm, she was worried that she had a fever.

“Stay in bed. I’ll make you breakfast.”

Yu Chiyin was finally able to take care of Shen Ji. She was so happy that she didn’t even wash up. She was afraid she would lose the chance to show off. But she couldn’t make a fancy breakfast. Shen Ji had banned her from using the stove. 

But she was smart enough to know what she was capable of. Luckily, they had a rice cooker. It was easy to put water and an egg in it.

They also had some bread and ham from the day before. There was one tomato left. It was enough to make a simple sandwich. It wouldn’t be good for Shen Ji to take medicine on an empty stomach.

Yu Chiyin hummed happily. Someone who didn’t know would think she was happy that Shen Ji was sick. When she brought the sandwich to the bedroom, she saw that Shen Ji was asleep again. The thermometer was still under her armpit.

She went closer. Shen Ji opened her eyes. They were dark and emotionless. But Yu Chiyin didn’t think anything of it. She had noticed that Shen Ji was sensitive to people getting close. She was like a startled little bunny. She wouldn’t show her claws, but she would stare at you with her gentle, expressive eyes.

In an instant, Shen Ji was fully awake. She recognized who it was and relaxed. A faint smile appeared on her face. “What are you doing?” Her throat was still sore. Yu Chiyin put the sandwich on the nightstand. “A sandwich. Eat it. I’ll get your medicine.”

The hot water made the medicine dissolve. Shen Ji’s nose was blocked, so she could barely smell the medicine.

“Thank you, wife.” Shen Ji was grateful. Her wife wasn’t disgusted by her being sick. She was taking care of her. Even though the sandwich was a bit dry because Yu Chiyin didn’t put any sauce on it, Shen Ji didn’t mind. The tomato slices were a bit too thick and burst with juice.

Shen Ji didn’t complain. She had expected to be abandoned. When she was a child and got sick, no one cared. They would just avoid her because they thought she was bad luck. Not even her own mother was an exception.

“What’s there to thank me for?” Yu Chiyin said. She didn’t think she was doing much. She held the medicine and watched Shen Ji eat the last bite of the sandwich. When she was done, she handed it to her.

“Here, drink it while it’s hot. But be careful not to burn yourself.”

“Okay~”

Shen Ji took it. Yu Chiyin thought she looked like a harmless little bunny. Her eyes were red from being sick. She was so vulnerable. Shen Ji was always gentle with her, but Yu Chiyin could feel the pride and arrogance in her bones.

Even Shen Ji didn’t know that she was a bit bossy. But it wasn’t the annoying kind. She was assertive when Yu Chiyin couldn’t make up her mind. But she never crossed any of Yu Chiyin’s boundaries. She was like a general waving a flag on the battlefield, telling the enemy she was going to attack. 

She was also like a cold fairy sitting on her throne, watching mortals kneel before her.

She was good to Yu Chiyin in her own way. She would observe Yu Chiyin’s taste, habits, and style. She even paid attention when she drank water. She would always give her the right amount of water at the right time.

Yu Chiyin was lost in her thoughts. Shen Ji waved a hand in front of her. “Wife?”

“Ah?” Yu Chiyin came back to reality and took the empty cup from her hand. “What is it?”

“Nothing,” Shen Ji said. “I was just asking what you were thinking about.”

“Nothing much.”

Yu Chiyin was a bit shy. She wanted to tell Shen Ji that she was thinking about her, but she couldn’t. It had to be Shen Ji who said it first. Then she would be a good person and reward her for being so devoted. But she couldn’t be the one to do it. No way!
