The Foolish General's Mute Spouse - Chapter 29
29: Tender Affection
There is no medicine for regret in this world, and no amount of wealth can buy foresight.
Fu Yu’an, such a fine young master from a respectable family, had never done anything he considered morally wrong. Who could have guessed that simply going out to catch fireflies would lead him to witness such a scene…
Qi Ren, with his sharper eyesight, noticed it first. In the darkness, he smirked slightly and patted Fu Yu’an’s shoulder, gesturing for him to look into the woods.
Fu Yu’an, who was holding a firefly in his hands, trusted Qi Ren and immediately turned to look. To his shock, he saw a pair of lovers under the moonlight, their figures faint yet brazen.
Xia Xiu, unable to control his voice, was half-undressed by Prince Qing, softly whimpering and pleading for mercy.
Fu Yu’an was utterly stunned, frozen in place.
They were kissing, their embrace filled with tender affection, so intimate that just a glance made one’s face burn with embarrassment.
Fu Yu’an suddenly recalled the last time he had been held and kissed by Qi Ren in the same way, until he was nearly breathless.
The more he thought about it, the hotter his face grew. Qi Ren noticed his reaction, and his eyes darkened in the shadows.
“Let’s go,” Fu Yu’an finally said, snapping out of his daze. Realizing what he had just witnessed, he wished he could vanish into the ground.
He grabbed Qi Ren’s arm and quickly pulled him away, the firefly in his hand fluttering its wings and flying back into the night sky.
Once they were far enough from the couple, Fu Yu’an relaxed slightly and let go of Qi Ren’s arm. He warned, “Just pretend you didn’t see anything today, understand?”
Qi Ren pretended not to understand and asked, “Why can’t we talk about it? Were they kissing? I’ve kissed you too!”
“Stop it!” Fu Yu’an, less bold than Qi Ren, glared at him, annoyed by his bluntness.
Qi Ren continued to press, “Was it kissing? Why won’t you let me ask?”
“……”
“Is it?”
“Yes! Stop asking!”
Fu Yu’an, furious, flicked his sleeve and turned to run away.
But Qi Ren was quicker. He grabbed Fu Yu’an’s wrist and pulled him back into his arms.
Fu Yu’an stiffened, not daring to move.
The warmth from Qi Ren’s body spread through Fu Yu’an’s back as he held him tightly. Qi Ren leaned in and whispered in his ear, “Can I kiss you too? Qiao Ying said today is Qixi Festival, and I should kiss you!”
Fu Yu’an: “…She lied to you. Don’t believe her.”
“No!” Qi Ren shamelessly nuzzled against Fu Yu’an’s neck, whining for a kiss.
Fu Yu’an sighed helplessly, thinking to himself that since Qi Ren wouldn’t remember this when he was sober, it wouldn’t hurt to let him have one kiss. It would be like being bitten by a dog—better than having him pester endlessly. How annoying!
“Just… just one kiss! No more than that! Do you hear me?” he said in a low voice.
Qi Ren was overjoyed. He turned Fu Yu’an around and looked at him, his head lowered shyly in his arms. Qi Ren felt a mix of sourness and sweetness in his heart, an impulse surging uncontrollably, wanting to hold him tightly and indulge in the moment.
Fu Yu’an finally mustered the courage to look up and meet Qi Ren’s gaze. After a moment, he stood on his tiptoes and quickly planted a kiss on Qi Ren’s cheek.
“Done.”
Qi Ren: “…”
Even a dragonfly’s touch on water lasts longer than that!
Qi Ren was furious. Although Fu Yu’an had initiated the kiss, it was far too perfunctory!
“Here! They kissed here!” Qi Ren pointed shamelessly at his own lips.
Fu Yu’an’s face turned even redder, the moonlight stripping away any remaining coolness from his demeanor. He looked like an immortal who had accidentally fallen into the mortal world, tainted by the worldly impurity known as “Qi Ren.”
“Don’t push your luck!” he said angrily.
Qi Ren snorted, “Hurry up and kiss!”
Fu Yu’an silently confronted him for a moment, realizing there was no way to avoid it. He could only mutter to himself, “He won’t remember when he wakes up,” as he wrapped his arms around Qi Ren’s neck and obediently leaned in to kiss him.
When their lips were just half a finger’s width apart, Qi Ren suddenly gripped the back of Fu Yu’an’s head fiercely and pressed their lips together forcefully.
Without any warning, Qi Ren invaded aggressively, and Fu Yu’an was completely unprepared. His body instantly went weak, and his arms, which had been clinging to Qi Ren, gradually lost strength. He was only held up by Qi Ren’s iron-like arm, which kept him from sliding to the ground.
“You’re so sensitive!” Qi Ren teased with a light laugh during a brief pause for breath.
“Shut up!” Fu Yu’an’s chest heaved rapidly, tears welling up in his eyes as he weakly glared at him.
That look only fueled Qi Ren’s excitement. Once Fu Yu’an finally caught his breath, Qi Ren pressed in for another kiss.
This time, it was even more intense, with Qi Ren relentlessly pursuing him, giving him no chance to breathe.
Fu Yu’an kept retreating until his back hit a rockery, forcing him to stop.
He let out a pained groan, and Qi Ren immediately released him, swiftly lifting him up and pinning him against the rockery.
Now, Fu Yu’an felt even more insecure. His legs instinctively wrapped around Qi Ren’s waist, and he was so frightened he nearly burst into tears.
He clung tightly to Qi Ren’s neck, almost as if he were pulling him closer, his toes curling in embarrassment.
“Put me down! Qi Ren… mmm…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Qi Ren kissed him again.
Fu Yu’an was completely defenseless, forced to let Qi Ren have his way.
After what felt like an eternity, his lips were nearly swollen from the intensity, when suddenly he felt a chill at his waist—the beast had somehow undone his belt!
A strange sensation spread across his waist, and Fu Yu’an was terrified, fearing that Qi Ren might actually go too far. He struggled violently, tears streaming down his face as he begged to be let down.
Qi Ren, panting heavily, finally stopped when he noticed Fu Yu’an’s tear-streaked face, realizing he had gone too far. He quickly set Fu Yu’an down.
Fu Yu’an sniffled, his legs still weak, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.
Qi Ren hurriedly supported him, whispering apologies.
Fu Yu’an had been filled with resentment, but Qi Ren’s sincere attitude and the way he hung his head in remorse made it hard to stay angry.
Fu Yu’an steadied himself against the rock, his hands trembling as he straightened his clothes. Seeing the guilt and regret in Qi Ren’s eyes, his heart softened.
Forget it, what does he know anyway!
“Next time… you can’t do this again!” he scolded softly. “If I say stop, you have to stop, understand? Otherwise… I won’t let you kiss me again!”
Qi Ren’s heart leaped with joy—there would be a next time!
Ah, my Yu’an, you’re so easy to persuade!
He nodded eagerly, showing he understood, and helped Fu Yu’an fasten his belt. As he gazed at Fu Yu’an’s flushed lips, he couldn’t help but swallow hard.
“Let me carry you back!”
There was no way anyone else could see him like this.
Fu Yu’an huffed, “At least you have some conscience!”
Qi Ren chuckled foolishly, hoisting Fu Yu’an up and carrying him back to the bamboo house.
The lights were on inside, and the dinner dishes had been cleared away—it seemed Xiao Zhu had already returned.
Fu Yu’an went to tidy up his sketches, and Qi Ren moved to help, but before he could get close, Fu Yu’an shooed him away.
Qi Ren, however, was persistent, craning his neck to catch a glimpse.
Fu Yu’an was working on a panel depicting a kiss, and Qi Ren was utterly shocked. He couldn’t reconcile the image of the calm, composed artist drawing such explicit scenes with the soft, breathless youth who had just been kissed senseless.
