Chapter 4: “Princess, do you have hemorrhoids?”
Lu Zhili’s fainting spell instantly cast a gloomy shadow over the entire villa. Even so, Housekeeper He still did her utmost to properly host the benefactor who had helped Lu Zhili.
From the tea to the snacks, everything was clearly prepared with care—nothing perfunctory at all.
But Yu Yao’s attention at the moment was solely on her tailbone. It was hard for her to appreciate the etiquette of being hosted by a wealthy family while her backside throbbed with pain.
She didn’t look well, and Housekeeper He noticed it clearly. She quietly summoned a maid nearby and told her to go upstairs and call another doctor down. After all, this guest was in the Lu family home—if anything happened to her without being noticed, it would be their fault.
The maid soon returned, but she was alone. She walked over to Housekeeper He and reported, “Miss is awake. Sir wants you and Miss Yu to go upstairs.”
Housekeeper He let out a breath of relief. The heavy burden in her heart finally lifted. She quickly brought Yu Yao upstairs, heading straight for Lu Zhili’s bedroom.
Yu Yao didn’t really understand why she was being called along, but since she was already here, a quick check-in couldn’t hurt.
Following Housekeeper He into the room, the first thing Yu Yao saw was the girl lying in bed. Her light brown eyes sparkled brightly as they turned toward the doorway, her expression brimming with joy.
Lu Zhili had indeed caught a glimpse of Yu Yao before she fainted, but she thought it had been a dream. Now that she was really seeing her, her eyes could only hold this one person.
Originally lying flat on the bed, Lu Zhili suddenly shot upright like a carp flipping out of water. She reached over and nudged her mother, Fu Shuang, who was sitting at the bedside, signaling her to move.
Fu Shuang stood up, confused, and saw her troublesome daughter pat the spot where she’d just been sitting, beaming at the woman standing in the doorway.
“Princess! Come sit here!”
In the next second, every eye in the room turned toward Yu Yao, making her feel extremely awkward.
Yu Yao: “It’s fine, I’ll just leave Earth tonight 🙂 “
The one who had shouted “Princess” seemed completely oblivious to the mood in the room, staring at Yu Yao as if afraid she’d disappear at any moment.
Lu Zhili’s father, Lu Zhusheng, had no choice but to step in and ease the situation. “Miss Yu, Zhili probably has something she’d like to say to you.”
Yu Yao braced herself and sat at the bedside. She casually asked, “Miss Lu, are you alright now? You really scared me earlier up in that tree.”
Now face-to-face with Yu Yao, Lu Zhili’s earlier boldness melted away. She grew shy and nervous, shaking her head, her cheeks blushing pink. She really didn’t look like someone who had just fainted.
“I’m okay now. Thank you for catching me,” she said, then added, “And for catching Little Cake.”
Yu Yao looked at her flustered expression and suppressed the urge to tease her, casually asking, “Little Cake? That Maine Coon cat?”
Lu Zhili nodded vigorously and began to enthusiastically recount Little Cake’s growth story.
Yu Yao: “……”
She had just asked in passing. She didn’t actually want to know the cat’s life story. Listening to this was no different than moms oversharing baby updates on social media.
Seeing that the two were chatting happily, Fu Shuang quietly signaled everyone else to leave the room. After closing the door, she pulled Lu Zhusheng aside. “What’s going on with your daughter? Judging by her reaction, this isn’t the first time she’s seen Miss Yu.”
Lu Zhusheng took off his glasses and rubbed his temples. “Miss Yu said she and Zhili met once before. It’s probably from that time. It’s no big deal—having friends is a good thing.”
Fu Shuang sighed and nodded. She then pulled her husband away to consult with Dr. Feng about their daughter’s condition.
Inside the room, with everyone else gone, Yu Yao’s tense nerves finally began to relax. But as soon as she let her guard down, the dull ache from her tailbone hit her hard. She carefully adjusted her position to avoid putting pressure on it.
Lu Zhili noticed Yu Yao’s subtle movements. Her brain kicked into high gear, and a lightbulb practically lit up above her head.
She leaned over to Yu Yao, cupped her hands around her mouth, and whispered into her ear, “Princess, do you have hemorrhoids?”
One of her old bodyguards used to fidget like that when sitting down, and another bodyguard had explained to her that it was because he had hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids were a very scary condition!
Yu Yao: “……?”
Who? Me? Hemorrhoids??
She really wanted to curse, but when she saw the sincere worry in Lu Zhili’s eyes—completely free of mockery—she swallowed her words.
Taking a deep breath, she replied coolly, “No. I probably hit my tailbone when I caught you. It’s only starting to hurt now.”
Lu Zhili let out a relieved sigh. Phew! Not hemorrhoids—what a terrifying illness that would’ve been!
Yu Yao: “……”
Lu Zhili quickly reacted and pressed the call button on her nightstand.
The bedroom door opened promptly. Housekeeper He stood at the threshold. “Miss, is everything alright?”
“Aunt He, take her to the hospital. I think she hurt her… her… um, tailbone. Somewhere around the butt.” Lu Zhili spoke while pulling Yu Yao’s hand closer, gently blowing on the scraped elbow before showing it to Housekeeper He. “And here too, she’s hurt here.”
Her tone was filled with sadness. From a cheerful little piglet, she’d become a droopy-eared one.
“Alright, I’ll arrange for someone to take Miss Yu to the hospital right away.”
“No, Aunt He, you go with her!” Lu Zhili looked up with puppy-dog eyes, clearly skilled in the art of persuasion.
Yu Yao didn’t like troubling others and wasn’t good at accepting kindness. She quickly waved it off. “No need, really. Just have someone take me. It’s not serious.”
“Miss Yu,” said Housekeeper He, “please don’t decline. Failing to notice your injury was our negligence. Please give us a chance to make it up to you. I’ll accompany you personally. The Lu family’s private hospital isn’t far from here.”
Yu Yao sighed internally and finally relented. “My friend is still waiting for me outside the villa complex. Let me call her and let her know I’m okay first.”
“Of course.”
As she stood to leave, Lu Zhili hurriedly grabbed her wrist.
Yu Yao turned back, puzzled. “Is there something else?”
Blushing and fidgety, Lu Zhili asked, “Um… Princess, can I add your WeChat?”
Yu Yao thought it was something serious and casually nodded, pulling out her phone. Lu Zhili lit up with excitement and reached under her pillow for her smartwatch—but then froze mid-action and looked at Yu Yao seriously.
“My phone’s out of battery. Can you add Aunt He first? I’ll add you as soon as it’s charged, okay?”
“Sure.” Yu Yao didn’t mind. She just wanted to leave. And so, absurd as it was, she added the Lu family’s housekeeper on WeChat.
Once they were gone, Lu Zhili pulled out her fully charged children’s smartwatch from under the pillow.
No way can Princess find out I still use a kid’s watch. I want to use a grown-up smartphone just like everyone else!
With that, Miss Lu flung off her blanket and ran barefoot out of the room, first peeking over the second-floor railing to confirm that her parents weren’t around. Then she darted toward the third-floor study.
“Daddy! I want a smartphone too!”
A thunderclap split the sky—the little piglet made her dazzling entrance!
Lu Zhusheng and Fu Shuang, who were in the middle of discussing her medical situation: “……”
Lu Zhili’s old phone had been destroyed in the car accident. Thankfully, all the data had been recovered and transferred to a new one. Lu Zhusheng instinctively opened a drawer, ready to hand her that backup phone—but his wife stopped him.
Fu Shuang gently asked, “Zhili, why do you suddenly want a phone? Isn’t your smartwatch convenient?”
Lu Zhili sat down on the couch, her bare feet chilled from running, though thankfully the study was carpeted wall to wall.
She declared, “Nope! I want to add Princess on WeChat! The smartwatch is not cool at all. I want an adult phone!”
Fu Shuang raised her eyebrows and looked at Dr. Feng, signaling him to leave. Once he was gone, she pulled out a pair of socks from the bottom drawer of Lu Zhusheng’s desk.
Lu Zhusheng: When did you stash those there?
Fu Shuang began helping her daughter put them on as she casually asked, “Why do you call Miss Yu ‘Princess’?”
Lu Zhili rested her chin in her palm and said, “Hmm… Mommy, don’t you think she looks just like Ariel? Same red hair, same prettiness!”
The couple exchanged a look. So that was it. They’d thought Miss Yu might have done something princess-like to earn the title, but no—it was just her stunning appearance.
“And when did you two meet? You never mentioned her before.”
Lu Zhili blinked. She remembered her confidentiality agreement with Xie Yanqing and blatantly lied, “Oh no, I forgot! I can’t believe I forgot something so important! I’m such a silly little piglet!”
She then peeked at her mom’s reaction. Little piglets are supposed to be silly—it’s normal, right? Mommy definitely won’t suspect anything.
Fu Shuang, who saw through it all: “……”
Lu Zhusheng quickly stepped in to smooth things over. “Alright, alright. Zhili, does your head still hurt? If you want a phone, Daddy doesn’t have a new one right now, but I’ll ask Aunt He to buy one for you. What color do you want?”
“It doesn’t hurt anymore! I want red!”
The same color as Princess’s hair!
