Chapter 40: With A Brain Full Of Love Like That, Even A Zombie Would Find It Too Sweet To Bite
The next morning, while Lu Zhili was still fast asleep, Yu Yao had already gotten ready and brought Yu Ling to the villa.
Seeing the housekeeper, He, watering the garden with Little Cake meowing at her feet, Yu Yao asked, “Housekeeper He, is Lili awake yet?”
Housekeeper He heard her voice, looked up, and quickly wiped her hands as she walked over.
“Miss is still sleeping. I’ll go wake her up.”
“No need to trouble you, I’ll wake her myself.”
Housekeeper He didn’t insist and nodded with a warm smile, “Then I’ll take your sister to sit in the living room.”
Yu Ling smiled politely and nodded, “Thank you, Housekeeper He.”
Yu Ling looked a lot like Yu Yao, and since Housekeeper He adored Yu Yao, she naturally extended the same kindness to her sister. As she led her inside, she asked if they had eaten breakfast yet.
Yu Yao felt at ease leaving her sister downstairs and quietly went up alone.
Lu Zhili rarely locked her door. Yu Yao gently pushed it open.
The room’s curtains were wonderfully blackout—Yu Rao felt like she could sleep here until the end of time.
She tiptoed to the bedside, sat down gently, and turned on the bedside lamp. The soft amber light fell across Lu Zhili’s face, making her look like a sweet, angelic dream.
Yu Yao couldn’t help but lean down and press a kiss to her forehead, then tucked a stray strand of hair from her cheek and whispered,
“Lili, time to wake up.”
Lu Zhili blinked groggily. When her eyes landed on Yu Yao’s familiar face, she smiled drowsily and mumbled, “Mmm… Ah Yao… I dreamed of Ah Yao…”
Yu Yao chuckled quietly. Her dazed look was simply too adorable. “Do you like dreaming about me?”
“I do… super love it…”
Yu Yao loved hearing her say such things. Feeling even more playful, she leaned over, hands on either side of Lu Zhili’s pillow, and dropped a kiss on her cheek.
“Do you like kissing Ah Yao?”
Lu Zhili giggled foolishly, “Yes… and more…”
Yu Yao smiled, eyes curved in delight, and kissed her cheek again.
But Lu Zhili seemed unsatisfied. She reached out blindly, mumbling, “Tongue… want tongue…”
Yu Rao naturally understood what she meant. She leaned in, rubbed their noses together like a little pup, and gently took Lu Zhili’s lips.
Even though Lu Zhili wasn’t fully awake, the kissing techniques Yu Rao had taught her were all still there. Instinctively, she slipped her tongue into Yu Rao’s mouth, sucking hard on her soft, pink tongue like she wanted to suck out her soul.
Gradually, Lu Zhili took the lead in this kissing war. She gripped Yu Rao’s shoulders, flipped them over, and pinned her underneath.
A fire was lit inside her body, making her burn all over. The strap of her nightshirt slid down her shoulder, the loose fabric slipping down her arm, revealing fair skin that dazzled Yu Yao so much she had to shut her eyes tightly.
Once Lu Zhili started kissing, she completely lost track of time. After enough tongue action, she began blindly nuzzling around—at Yu Rao’s neck, her chest—before finally settling with her face buried in Yu Yao’s chest, unmoving.
Yu Rao lay flat on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling above her. It wasn’t until she heard the steady breathing from the girl lying on top of her that she helplessly reached out and pinched Lu Zhili’s cheek.
The sudden sting snapped Lu Zhili awake. She immediately sat upright on Yu Rao’s waist. Yu Rao retracted her hand and looked up at her innocently.
“Huh? Ah Yao?!” Lu Zhili’s eyes lit up as she looked down at her, then suddenly pouted and complained, “Ah Yao, something bit me.”
Yu Rao blinked slowly, suppressing her laughter.
“What bit you?”
Lu Zhili rubbed her aching cheek and pouted pitifully, “I don’t know, but right here.”
She turned her face and leaned closer to Yu Yao.
Yu Yao pressed her lips together to keep from laughing, leaned over, and kissed her cheek with a soft “mwah.”
“There, it’s all better now.”
Lu Zhili paused for a moment, then immediately hugged Yu Yao tightly and swayed from side to side.
“Ah Yao is a magical princess! It really doesn’t hurt anymore!”
Yu Yao laughed and patted her back.
“Okay, time to get up. Yu Ling is already waiting downstairs.”
“Mhm!”
Twenty minutes later, freshly dressed Lu Zhili and Yu Yao went downstairs. Yu Ling was sitting at the dining table eating breakfast, across from a yawning Xie Yanqing slumped over the table.
“Morning,” she greeted.
Yu Ling looked up and greeted them brightly, “Good morning, Sister Lu!”
“Morning, Fishy!” Lu Zhili frowned slightly at the sleepy Xie Yanqing, “If you’re that tired, why not just go back to your room and sleep?”
“Aren’t we leaving soon? I can nap in the car. No need to delay on my account.”
As soon as she said that, the other three all gave her a confused look. Lu Zhili even asked bluntly,
“You’re coming with us?”
Xie Yanqing perked up instantly, looking shocked,
“I’m not going with you guys?!”
Lu Zhili: O.o
“What’s with that face?! You asked me if there were any fun places to go, and now you’re not even taking me?!”
Yu Yao sighed and calmly reassured her, “Of course you’re coming. The whole point is to relax and have fun. The more the merrier.”
Hearing this, Xie Yanqing gave Lu Zhili a dramatic glare, “Hmph, you’re my own sister, but Yu Yao treats me better!”
Yu Yao could tell Xie Yanqing was acting extra sweet around her lately and figured Lu Zhili must’ve told her about their relationship.
Now that that was out of the way, she had nothing to worry about. She could finally act like Lu Zhili’s girlfriend without holding back.
Lu Zhili chewed on a piece of toast Yu Yao fed her and coaxed her sister with a pitiful tone, “Okay okay, I’m sorry, I’m happy you’re coming with us! But why didn’t you make it clear earlier?”
Xie Yanqing was already over it. Her sleepiness had been chased away, but she still wanted to scare her sister a little. Without a word, she picked up her milk and moved to the living room couch.
Lu Zhili gave Yu Yao a helpless puppy-eyed look.
Yu Yao pushed the strawberries toward her, signaling her to use them to cheer her up. Lu Zhili took the plate and walked over. Only then did Yu Ling scoot closer to her sister and whisper,
“Sis… is Sister Lu… a little, you know… not quite right in the head?”
She tapped her temple meaningfully.
Yu Yao glanced at her, “She’s not ‘not right,’ she’s sick.”
Yu Ling understood immediately. She had been watching Lu Zhili the past two days and noticed something was off—her behavior and speech felt more childlike.
“What happened to her? She’s so pretty, how’d she end up like this? If she hadn’t met you, she might’ve been tricked by someone.”
Yu Yao said, “She was in a car accident two years ago. It left her with aftereffects. Just don’t call her dumb in front of her. She doesn’t like it.”
“Got it! I’ll be careful.” Yu Ling hadn’t officially gotten her sister’s approval for Lu Zhili, but she already accepted her as part of the family. And if she’s family, she’ll protect her.
Back in the living room, Lu Zhili had somehow ended up sulking herself while trying to cheer up her sister. She plopped the plate down and slumped dramatically into the couch.
Seeing that, Xie Yanqing realized she’d gone too far. She cleared her throat, hugged Lu Zhili’s arm, and said sweetly, “Come on, sis, I’m not mad. I just wanted to sit here by myself for a bit.”
“Hmph!”
“Sis, I was wrong not to tell you. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“And I can help watch over Yu Yao’s little sister, too! See, the big sisters hang out, and the little sisters hang out—perfect, right?”
That somehow reminded Lu Zhili of that morning at Yu Yao’s house when Yu Ling was leaning against Yu Yao affectionately.
Even though she knew they were biological sisters, she still felt a little sour inside. She just wanted to hug and kiss Ah Yao all by herself. Even her own sister made her jealous.
“Then… then you have to keep Fishy company, okay?”
Xie Yanqing raised her eyebrows knowingly,
“Don’t worry, I won’t let her ruin your aesthetic-movie-date with Yu Yao.”
And just like that, the sisters made up again.
Soon it was time to leave. The four of them got into Yu Yao’s car. Before they left, Housekeeper He handed Lu Zhili a packed box filled with little snacks Aunt Chen had made that morning, perfect for the road.
Their destination was on the northernmost edge of Yanjing, practically across the whole city. It’d take at least three hours.
Yu Yao originally planned to drive the whole way, but seeing the concern in her sister’s eyes, Xie Yanqing offered to split the driving. Yu Rao agreed.
So with that, thanks to Xie Yanqing’s planning, she and Yu Ling were paired up, while Lu Zhili got to monopolize Yu Rao completely.
When Yu Yao drove, Lu Zhili sat obediently in the front seat, chatting with her to pass the time. When it was Xie Yanqing’s turn, the two of them moved to the back seat, leaving the front to the younger girls.
Lu Zhili clung to Yu Yao in the back, constantly kissing her ears and fingers, which made Xie Yanqing groan in protest.
But Yu Yao didn’t mind—in fact, she seemed to enjoy it. Everyone already knew about their relationship, so there was no need to hide. This was the most relaxed and carefree time they’d had since confirming their relationship.
She could give Lu Zhili everything she wanted—holding hands, kisses—without worrying about others. In truth, she was trying to make up for the wrongs Lu Zhili suffered in Hechuan County.
But from Yu Ling and Xie Yanqing’s perspective, Yu Yao was way too indulgent.
Lu Zhili loved hugs and kisses, so Yu Yao literally wiped off her light foundation with a makeup remover wipe—just so Lu Zhili could bite her cheeks whenever she wanted.
With a brain full of love like that, even a zombie would find it too sweet to bite.
