59: Epilogue: It’s an Alchemy and Potion Shop
Another morning begins at “Mireille’s Alchemy and Apothecary”.
Sharo-chan is already awake, preparing breakfast as usual.
Since Sharo-chan is affiliated with Meholic, the gentlemanly old man provided her with a mini-skirt maid uniform as her work attire.
We enjoy a meal of stored rye bread, bacon and fried eggs, consommé-style soup, and salad together.
“Today’s meal is delicious too. Thanks, Sharo-chan.”
“Ah, yes. Thank you, Professor.”
Marie-chan arrives for work.
Marie-chan wears a knee-length regular maid uniform. Still, she looks plenty cute.
Our morning starts with potion-making.
“Alright, let’s do our best today!”
“”Yes~!””
“Kyu, kyuu~”
Even though their effects are weak, the most in-demand potions are low-grade ones.
Sharo-chan mass-produces an improved version of low-grade potions.
They have a yellow-greenish color. It was made with Morris grass and Miruru fruit.
Meanwhile, I use Morris grass and slime powder, which I purchase from local children, to make herbal paste.
Other alchemy shops don’t sell these much due to their low magic concentration and weak effects.
“Stirring~ and stirring~”
Next, I make mid-grade potions.
I use Roofla grass and Bob Berries from my personal herb garden.
Mid-grade potions have a bluish tint.
Pom the slime produces six bottles of mid-high grade “Pom Potions” every day.
I still don’t know whether the liquid comes from Pom’s tears, bodily fluids, or… something else.
Since the invention of special-grade potions, demand for Pom Potions has decreased.
Still, it’s better to have them than not. So Pom has to keep working hard.
I also produce a small number of special-grade potions.
“Stirring~ and stirring~. Stirring~ and stirring~.”
Mixing is a crucial step in alchemy.
It may look simple, but it should never be neglected.
Previously, storage stones were monopolized. But now I can occasionally get some through Holland.
This morning, Marie-chan brought one storage stone. So I put it to use.
I dissolve the storage stone in water inside the alchemy cauldron.
Then, I submerge a bag of materials into it and channel magic power.
This process requires a significant amount of magic.
Since most other vendors lack enough magic power, they can’t perform this task.
While I work, Marie-chan makes ginger ale, peach-scented soap, and shampoo.
She can handle some of these tasks.
—
After lunch, I change into battle attire—a maid uniform.
It’s the same type as Marie-chan’s.
“Good morning! ‘Mireille’s Alchemy and Apothecary’ is now open!”
Nowadays, there aren’t many customers waiting at opening time.
In the beginning, only people I knew came.
I flip the signboard to “Open”.
In this area, shops use these signboards to distinguish themselves from private homes or closed businesses.
A group of young adventurers bursts through the door.
“Hell yeah! Lucky day! There’s a storage backpack!”
One of them does a victory pose, overjoyed.
“P-Please, I’d like one! If possible, I’d love two, but I don’t have enough money…”
“Thank you very much.”
Storage backpacks cost one gold coin each.
Even now, they are much cheaper than those sold elsewhere.
Sometimes, second-hand versions of my handmade storage backpacks are resold for two gold coins.
Well, I won’t bother regulating that.
They can do as they please.
—
Before long, Pom’s fan club gathers.
“Poooom-chan~!”
“Pom-chan, have some candy~!”
Pom is surrounded by older women, looking delighted.
Its nose is all stretched out in excitement…
Even though I have no idea where its nose actually is.
—
The Ginger Ale Dudes show up.
They were once in black suits but now dress casually.
They’ve basically become regulars.
“Ginger ale, please!”
“Same here, ginger ale for me too.”
—
There are also coffee lovers and tea enthusiasts.
“A coffee, please. With milk.”
“I’ll have tea.”
Even though this isn’t a café, we do have that function.
—
“Nyaa~”
A white kitten named Marie-chan drops by.
Her owner, Madam Plotte, is with her.
Apparently, this old lady is a Meholic intelligence agent in charge of information gathering.
“Wow, this silver mirror is unbelievably flat and clear! I’ll take one!”
Our silver mirrors are small but have the highest flatness rate in the industry.
Since they’re compact and affordable, they’re perfect for daily use.
—
After a busy day, our shop’s daytime sales finally end.
We have dinner and then—
Mufufu.
I bathe with Sharo-chan.
A naked bond is important, after all!
Afterward, I crawl into bed.
“Good night, Sharo-chan.”
“Good night, Mireille-san.”
I hope tomorrow will be another wonderful day.
(The End.)
