The Garbage Collector Who Stumbled Upon Mythical Weapons! - Chapter 25
Van couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“What!? No way…!”
The spiders fired fireballs from their magic circles. Explosions erupted around Van and his party as flames spread.
Clay protected himself with his shield, but he couldn’t shield his teammates.
Maria and Sophia were blown away, leaving only Van and Amber unharmed.
“Damn it! I can’t believe these monsters can use magic…”
Clay clenched his teeth. As he looked around, he saw Van kneeling, barely holding himself up with his sword stabbed into the ground.
Amber was in bad shape too, barely able to stand.
—Am I the only one who can still fight properly…? But what should I do now!?
As Clay bit his lip in frustration, one of the spiders spat silk at Van. Van, completely exhausted, couldn’t dodge it.
“Van! Damn it! Amber, burn away Van’s web!”
“O-Okay…”
Amber, swaying unsteadily, raised her staff.
A flame lit at the tip of her staff, but when she aimed it at the silk wrapped around Van, he shook his head.
“Amber…”
Realizing Van’s intent, Amber gasped and stopped casting her magic.
“What are you doing, Amber!? Hurry up and free Van!”
Because of Amber’s hesitation, the surrounding spiders attacked Van. They bit him one after another, injecting their poison.
“Guh… Ahh!”
“Van!!”
Van was being overwhelmed! Clay couldn’t understand Amber’s actions, but then something even more unbelievable happened.
Amber, instead of helping Van, pointed her staff at Garm and cast a fire spell.
“Garm… I’m counting on you…”
Saying this, Amber collapsed to the ground, completely drained.
The flames shot straight at Garm, burning away the silk wrapped around him.
“Ahhh! Hot, hot, hot!!!”
The silk lost its stickiness and loosened. Garm tore through the weakened strands and hurriedly put out the flames.
“Ugh, that was hot!”
Garm patted off the embers and looked around.
Van and Amber had fallen, and fire was spreading across the ground. At the back of the cave sat a massive spider—clearly the master of this labyrinth.
“So, I just have to take that thing down, huh?”
Garm glared at the giant spider.
“…Why?”
Clay stood frozen. —I don’t get it… Why did Amber save that old guy instead of Van?
All of his teammates had collapsed.
Clay watched the spreading flames with a feeling of despair. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw someone moving. It was Garm.
The fire hadn’t gone out yet, and there were still dozens of spiders, but Garm walked straight ahead.
“Oh, this looks sturdy. Just perfect!”
Garm reached out for Macaus’ Battle Axe.
It weighed over fifty kilograms, a weapon only someone as strong as Macaus could handle. There was no way Garm could even lift it. That’s what Clay thought—
“Here we go!”
Garm easily lifted it with one hand.
“What!?”
Resting the massive battle axe on his shoulder, he cracked his neck. Spiders closed in around him, but he didn’t seem fazed at all.
One of the spiders leaped at Garm.
Just as Clay thought this is bad—
“Out of my way.”
Garm casually swung his axe. For a split second, Clay thought the spider had disappeared.
Not understanding what had happened, he turned his gaze toward a rock wall over ten meters away. There, he found the spider’s crushed remains.
“W-What the hell!?”
“Clay! I’ll handle the spiders. Take care of Van and the others!”
Saying this, Garm gripped his weapon with both hands and charged toward the remaining spiders.
Clay was stunned by his speed.
If he let his guard down, he would lose sight of Garm completely. Even the fast-moving spiders couldn’t react in time.
Garm swung the battle axe high and brought it crashing down on a spider in front of him.
The axe split the spider’s head open, then smashed into the ground, sending rocks flying in all directions.
As shattered rocks scattered around, the surrounding spiders lunged at Garm all at once. He swung his axe sideways, slicing two of them in half.
Other spiders spat silk at him, but he was already behind them, axe ready.
“Like hell I’d fall for that again!!”
His axe slashed through the spiders with ease.
Spiders dropped from the ceiling, preparing to cast fire magic at Garm, but he moved too fast for them to keep up.
He swung his axe wildly. It was an untrained, sloppy attack.
Garm had never used an axe before. He had no technique—only brute force.
But his sheer speed and power were more than enough to slaughter the spiders.
Spider parts flew through the air. They were crushed, slashed, and kicked away, dying without even a chance to fight back. It was overwhelming brutality.
The spiders’ venomous fangs and fire magic couldn’t even touch him. It was a one-sided massacre.
Clay watched in shock.
“What… what the hell is he…?”
An old man who seemed useless. His rank was low, and he looked like dead weight. Yet, Van and the others trusted him completely.
Clay suddenly remembered what Van, Sophia, and Amber had said.
‘Garm might not look like it, but he’s strong. He’s definitely an asset to the party.’
‘Yeah, he’s an old guy, but surprisingly reliable.’
‘Garm… I think he’s an essential member. I really do…’
Clay turned his gaze back to the man fighting in front of him.
“Was… was I wrong about him…?”
