The Garbage Collector Who Stumbled Upon Mythical Weapons! - Chapter 26
Threads stretched down from the ceiling as all the spiders descended. The ones clinging to the walls jumped down to the ground, rushing toward Garm.
They formed a white mass and tried to swallow him whole.
“Uraaaaaaaahhhhhh!!”
Garm swung his axe, sending the wave of spiders flying. Dozens of them were torn apart and scattered through the air, and with another powerful strike, even more were slain.
Garm did not stop. He charged forward with even more force than the spiders rushing at him, crushing every enemy in his path.
“No way…”
Celesti, who was hanging upside down from the ceiling, muttered in disbelief.
She was bound by threads, unable to move freely. However, she had not been poisoned and remained fully conscious.
Even so, she found it hard to believe what she was seeing.
The one effortlessly cutting down the swarm was supposed to be the weakest among them. And even though he wielded an axe, he was slicing through the insects’ bodies with ease.
“That can’t be… Even Maria, strengthened by magic, couldn’t cut them…”
His strength was abnormal.
He crushed the spiders as if they were nothing more than tiny bugs. The way he fought sent shivers down her spine. She thought he was as strong as an A-rank adventurer.
“No… not just A-rank. He’s far beyond that… almost like—”
Celesti recalled the fairy tales her mother used to tell her as a child.
“Like a hero… like Atlas…”
Garm stopped swinging his battle axe, spun it in the air, and then brought it down hard.
The blade sank into the ground, leaving the axe standing upright.
Around him, countless spider corpses were scattered. Nothing else was moving—except for the giant spider.
“You were just standing there watching, but now you’re the only one left!”
The spider, with eerie white patterns on its body, fixed its many eyes on Garm.
“Hmph! Fine, I’ll end this in one strike!”
Garm pulled his battle axe from the ground and gripped it with both hands.
He stomped forward, closing the distance between him and the giant spider in an instant. The spider reacted slightly but couldn’t keep up with Garm’s speed.
He leaped toward the ceiling, raising his battle axe high.
“I got you!”
He swung the axe down toward its head. In that instant—
A chill ran through his entire body. A terrible feeling of danger surged within him, and he stopped his attack, kicking off the air to retreat. It was the skill “Aerial Step” from the Sky God Hermes’ Greaves.
The moment Garm pulled back, a purple mist burst from the spider’s body.
It was a deadly poison. He landed near Clay, but in the confined cave, the toxic mist quickly spread.
“Damn! No matter what, we’ll end up breathing it in!”
Garm’s “Oni God Vedernes’ Gauntlets” allowed him to heal from injuries, but they couldn’t counteract poison or other status effects.
—A neurotoxin… If I had Atlas’ armor, I could resist it, but this could be bad if it drags on.
Garm glanced beside him and saw Clay, his face pale, glaring at the giant spider.
“Clay! Are you okay? The poison is spreading!”
“Don’t worry, my armor reduces status effects.”
“I see… In that case, take everyone and get out of here. I’ll stop this thing with everything I’ve got!”
“You plan to fight alone?”
“Yeah. I’m the only one who can handle this thing!”
With that, Garm kicked off the ground and charged at the giant spider. He raised his battle axe and swung down—but—
Numerous magic circles appeared around the spider. Sparks flashed, and then—the mist ignited, causing an explosion.
Garm took the full force of the blast and was sent flying backward.
“Gah!”
He slammed into the ground and rolled before managing to get back up. He couldn’t hide his shock at the spider’s attack method.
—A multi-directional attack spell… It knows it can’t match my speed? And the mist is flammable—when ignited, it explodes!
Garm clenched his teeth, glaring at the giant spider.
He rushed in again, but the spider released more poisonous mist.
“Tch!!”
Garm shielded his eyes with his left arm, trying to push through. Just as he prepared to swing his axe—
A series of layered magic circles appeared right in front of him.
“Damn! Too fast!!”
Fire magic erupted from the circles, igniting the mist and triggering another explosion.
Garm was blown over ten meters back, crashing into a rock wall and collapsing to his knees.
“Gah… ha…”
He looked down at his own hands—they were trembling slightly.
—The neurotoxin is taking effect… My strength is fading.
This isn’t good… Just as Garm thought that, Clay stepped in front of him, raising his large shield toward the spider.
“Clay!”
“You can’t handle this alone. I’ll be the shield! I can withstand the poison mist and the explosions!”
“That may be true, but… it’s dangerous.”
“You think I’d just leave it all to you? Stay behind me! I’ll get us close to that thing!!”
Feeling Clay’s resolve, Garm nodded.
Just as they prepared to face the spider together, a high-pitched voice rang out.
“Hey! Don’t just ignore me and get all fired up—help me already!!”
Garm looked up and saw Celesti, wrapped in threads, hanging from the ceiling.
“So that’s where you were…”
Seeing that the arrogant girl was still safe, Garm let out a sigh of relief.
