The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 10
“If you fail the national exam, please come visit us.”
We arrived at the capital and shook hands with the leader of the guards.
“Hahaha, how do you feel about it?”
After the troll attack, I had been allowed to participate in monster subjugations multiple times, and afterwards, I was given time to receive guidance.
Probably just politeness. I hadn’t stood on the front lines and made a difference. I simply moved and supported as instructed…
As I tilted my head, the leader of the guards scratched his cheek and smiled wryly.
“Geez. Most can’t even move as instructed… Do you really understand?”
The leader of the guards chuckled and said, “Brother, let’s go.”
Seemingly nearing the next carriage’s departure time, Celia, who had been checking the situation, returned.
“Well then, thank you for everything.”
I thanked the leader of the guards again, and we headed towards the carriage stand where Celia would go to school.
We headed to the school where Celia attends, located near the center of the capital. We enjoyed the scenery outside as the carriage rocked us.
We arrived at the school gates in about 30 minutes from the capital’s carriage stand.
At the gate’s reception area, I stated Celia’s name and my own as her guardian proxy. Shortly after, a teacher appeared and guided us through the school building.
This school seemed to only admit exceptional individuals from the capital, and its facilities were also well-equipped.
It would undoubtedly be a perfect place for Celia to study magic.
“…That concludes the tour of the school facilities. If everything is in order, please sign these documents for the student and guardian.”
We were shown around the school facilities and then presented with the enrollment documents in the reception room.
They detailed school rules, academic requirements, events, and potential risks during enrollment.
Considering it all seemed reasonable, including consequences like expulsion for rule violations or injuries/death from not following instructions, I had no objections.
“Celia, are you okay with this?”
“Yes, brother. No issues.”
After confirming her willingness, I signed the documents, and she followed suit.
“Congratulations. With this, Celia-san is now officially a student of our school.”
“Thank you very much.”
I breathed a sigh of relief at the teacher’s words. She must have been anxious until she could actually enroll.
After being guided by the teacher, Celia continued to converse calmly.
I escorted Celia to the dormitory entrance and had a chat.
From here on, only females were allowed beyond this point, so it was time to part ways.
“Brother, you’re going to the Adventurer’s Guild next, right?”
“Yeah, it’s a one-year contract, after all.”
I asked the receptionist at the Adventurer’s Guild and found out that the national adventurer qualification exam is held four times a year, every three months.
While it might seem like there are four chances, there are several quests that must be completed in order to qualify for the exam.
Since I had just arrived, I couldn’t afford to relax. Achieving this goal is absolutely necessary. While I’m worried about Celia, I decided to focus on my own path.
“Make sure you study hard too.”
Since we’re both here in the capital, let’s work hard while encouraging each other. I wanted to convey that sentiment to Celia…
“Of course, but since we’re both in the capital, I’d like to meet once a week… No, once a month at least.”
Celia reached out with a lonely, somewhat needy gesture.
It seemed like she still relied on me, despite being a strong sister. Perhaps our parents sensed her vulnerability in the capital and gave me an excuse to stay for just one year.
“Well… it’s not a definite promise, but call me if you’re feeling down. I’ll come running.”
To prevent my sister from being worn down by the city’s challenges, I resolved to pay close attention.
“Yes, I promise.”
Celia answered with a smile that seemed relieved.
After parting ways with Celia, I walked through the streets of the capital.
Belladona, the capital, assigns numbers to residential areas and divides them into districts. The school Celia attends and the Adventurer’s Guild are separated by two districts.
The teacher who guided us said, “It’s quite a distance, so I’ll show you to the carriage stand.” However, since I would be visiting this school many times in the future, I decided to walk while observing the streets.
True to its reputation as the capital, the roads were well-maintained and the buildings lined up without gaps.
There were various shops, and beyond narrow alleys, there were other main streets bustling with people.
Coming from the countryside, I was overwhelmed by its grandeur.
“Huh? Which way was it?”
After a while, I realized I had lost my way.
Distracted by an intriguing shop and peering into a narrow alley, I lost track of where I had come from.
All the buildings in the capital looked the same, and some shops sold identical goods, making it impossible to use them as landmarks.
Feeling anxious about not even knowing the direction to the Adventurer’s Guild, I suddenly heard…
“Hey.”
I turned around to see a beastfolk girl standing there. She was slightly shorter than Celia and looked up at me with round eyes.
“Are you having trouble with something?”
She asked me, focusing her clear eyes on me.
“Um… do you know where the Adventurer’s Guild is?”
I asked her, bracing myself for a moment of embarrassment.
