The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 123
Chapter 123: Klaus’s Thoughts
“Come here.”
When I beckoned, several monsters called foxes that were in the grassland charged at us.
Foxes are E-rank monsters with two tails, and as they grow, the number of tails increases.
They are monsters that learn to control fire as they grow larger, and people who plan to become tamers in the future often choose them as their first familiars.
They raise them from a young age, form bonds, and debut as tamers together with the fox when they become adults. Charlotte had explained that to me.
Charlotte and I hugged the foxes that jumped at us.
The white fur on the fox’s chest was fluffier and warmer than I thought.
“Does this feel good here?”
“Kyuu kyuu kyuu”
When I held its cheeks with both hands, the fox narrowed its eyes and let out a pleased cry.
“As expected of you, Lord Klaus. To tame a fox on first meeting without any food.”
“You’re doing the same, Charlotte.”
The fox that climbed onto her skirt, curled up, and fell asleep. It looked more relaxed than the one under me, and watching it made me sleepy too.
“It’s nothing special. Foxes are common monsters for tamers. There are a few tricks to taming them.”
“Like what methods?”
“The key point for foxes is this part of their belly.”
She lifted the sleeping fox and pointed to one spot.
“If you stroke behind their ears at the same time, the pleasure makes them half fall asleep.”
With deft movements, she lured the fox to sleep.
“Charlotte really is amazing.”
Even if I knew the trick, I don’t think it would work that quickly for me. It’s probably the atmosphere she gives off.
When I stopped petting, the fox under me ran to her too.
“Lord Klaus?”
“Koku?”
While I was petting Koku and Riko, she tilted her head, wondering what was wrong.
“Actually, Feni ran away from home recently. The reason was that I paid too much attention to Koku and Riko…”
There have been times when they got sulky from too much attention to Koku and Riko.
Suddenly, I wondered what Koku and Riko were thinking and stopped petting.
“I’ve experienced that too.”
Charlotte looked at Squarl relaxing in a distant spot. Squarl didn’t seem to mind Charlotte paying attention to the foxes.
“How did you convince Squarl, Charlotte?”
I asked her for tips on getting along well with familiars.
“Rather than Squarl, the other familiars aren’t convinced either.”
But they all seem calm now.
“When I was troubled, Grandfather gave me some advice.”
“What advice?”
Advice from that Douglas would be like words of gold. I held my breath and waited for the rest.
“‘The whims of familiars are nothing compared to you as a baby. Just treat them with love.'”
“Huh… So Charlotte was willful as a baby?”
“That’s not the point! Anyway, the point is that if you treat them with love, the familiars will respond!”
She blushed and wrapped it up.
“But hearing that, I finally understood what you’ve been hesitating about, Lord Klaus.”
When she stopped petting, the fox woke up and ran off into the field.
Both of us watched it go, then continued the conversation.
“I’ve heard from Grandfather about the conditions His Majesty gave you, Lord Klaus.”
I was surprised she brought it up.
“With your power, you could easily clear ten familiars. So I wondered why you haven’t added even one yet.”
Honestly, if I wanted to, I could add familiars. I just need to go into forests, mountains, or rivers, hatch eggs, and tame them. The reason I didn’t was partly because of the fights between Feni and Koku and Riko.
I felt anxious about whether I could properly care for more familiars.
Of course, that’s not all.
“I don’t think I can handle being a noble…”
Looking around, Lebrant, Marguerite, Douglas, Nicholas, Dwight, and Xavier all responsibly fulfill their duties.
Even if I were ennobled, I have no confidence I could be like them.
I confided in her about my hesitations from various factors.
“You don’t need to worry about that. The country won’t entrust major tasks right away, and as a noble, you’ll receive education. While you’re studying, you can borrow personnel from your guardian.”
She immediately dispelled my concern, but the fog in my head didn’t clear.
“What are you really worried about?”
The next moment, Charlotte pointed out that I was hiding my worries.
Her clear eyes pierced me, saying lies won’t work, so I stopped trying to fool just her.
“Well, I hate it. When they tell me to gather familiars to become a noble, it feels like I’m using my family.”
I want to make them familiars and walk together because I want to get along, not to become a noble.
Since I’m naming and commanding them, it’s natural to take responsibility for their lives.
“When I talk with you, Lord Klaus, I feel more empathy than with anyone else, and each of your words is so kind that it warms my heart.”
Charlotte gently placed her hand over mine.
“So, for now, let’s act as you believe. If you truly feel that way from the bottom of your heart, it’s surely the right answer.”
She looked at me with gentle eyes.

All hands on deck!! Let’s hope Klaus will find that monster, subjugate it, and find the cure for Carol, too. Thanks for the treat.
Agreed. Especially, since Carol seems to be more than a C rank adventurer so the loss of her should hurt the National Adventurer’s.
Although, I do also agree that they need to be prepared if they’re going to investigate since Carol was even caught off guard.
