The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 167
Chapter 167: B+ Rank Monster Ogre
A few minutes felt like an eternity.
The scenery around us blurred by in a rush, and since Feni flew at full speed, the wind battered us directly, making it hard to keep my eyes open.
At last, the forest came into view, so we plunged straight in, and soon the sounds of battle reached my ears.
“Good! They’re still alive!”
A handful of knights were locked in combat with monsters. Among them stood a young man clad in noble armor, wielding a magic sword. He had to be Prince Grain.
“Damn… is this the end?!”
Just then, an ogre swung its club down at him. With no strength left to dodge, he squeezed his eyes shut.
“Like hell I’ll let you!”
“Piiiiii!”
Feni sped up and dove in. I swung my sword sideways and slashed the ogre.
“Huh?”
My sudden arrival with Feni froze both the guarding knights and the monsters for a moment.
“I’m Klaus from the Stesia Kingdom. I’ve come to help!”
I gave my name to make it clear I was on their side.
“Good, we’re saved now.”
“I thought we were done for.”
Hope sparked in the eyes of the knights who’d been fighting as they heard my words.
“Please evacuate the wounded. I’ll handle the monsters.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! You think you can take on multiple B+ rank monsters alone?!”
Prince Grain shouted. B+ rank foes were the kind that typically needed around ten B-rank adventurers to tackle. He must have been stunned that I’d claim to beat them solo.
“Feni, can you handle guarding everyone?”
“Pii!”
After setting me down, Feni went to Prince Grain’s side and intimidated the goblins and kobolds circling us.
“Guaaaaaah!”
Sensing an opening now that my feet were on the ground, the ogre charged with its massive bulk.
“Watch out!”
It brought down its club with all its weight behind it. A normal person couldn’t block that kind of power, but its movements were far too slow.
I dodged with ease, and the club gouged the earth, sending dirt flying up.
“Full of openings.”
I swung my Sun Sword, slicing through its neck, both arms, and waist.
“So fast! Even I can’t track it with my eyes?!”
Prince Grain’s voice rang out in stunned disbelief through the forest.
“Guoh?”
The ogre’s body split into five pieces and crumpled. I’d cut it down in an instant, so it died without ever grasping what hit it.
“He took out the ogre we were struggling against in a single moment… what kind of guy is he?!”
I could see Prince Grain and the knights gaping in shock, but enemies still remained.
If I didn’t clear out the rest of the ogres, they couldn’t treat their wounded, so I stayed focused and kept fighting.
Five ogres glared at me.
“This many might be pushing it, huh?”
While someone muttered that, I charged into the ogre pack.
I dodged the clubs of the first and second, luring them right into the path of the third’s swing coming straight at me. The gap to slip through was tiny, so I twisted my body to evade while slashing that ogre’s arm at the same time.
I leaped up, spun once in midair to steady myself, and cleaved the ogre from above.
(One down.)
While they stood there dazed, I circled around and lopped off the heads of the second and third.
(Two… three.)
The fourth and fifth, off to the side, noticed my rush and braced to intercept, but they were just too sluggish.
I thrust through one’s heart for an instant kill.
(Four.)
“Guaaaaaah!”
Before I could pull my sword free, another ogre timed the gap and barreled in to smash me along with its dead kin, but…
“[Phoenix Flame]”
It burned in the hellfire I unleashed from my hand, dropping its club and letting out agonized howls.
The foul stench of searing flesh and smoke filled the air.
Soon, the ogre stopped moving, and…
“[Ice Bind]”
To keep the fire from spreading through the forest, I froze it solid.
“Is everyone all right?”
I checked that no other monsters lurked nearby, then headed back to the group.
They all wore faces twisted in shock, their bodies covered in wounds.
“[Area Heal]”
As I cast the healing spell, their injuries mended.
That should do it. I let out a relieved breath, and then…
“Who the hell are you?”
Prince Grain bit down hard on his lower lip with his teeth and asked that.
