The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 48
Chapter 48: Purchasing Property
“So, Klaus-san, what kind of property are you looking for?”
Sagin-san asked me, his glasses gleaming, as he inquired about the type of property I was interested in.
“For now, I’d like something spacious enough for these two to live in even after they grow,” I said, pointing to Feni and Purple who were with me.
“Peep!”
“……!”
Feni spread her wings, and Purple flapped his wings in response.
As Feni moved her wings, sparks of fire scattered, and the wind blew.
“I see, you’re looking to live with the rare monsters, the Phoenix and Rainbow Butterfly. The Rainbow Butterfly won’t grow bigger than a human even when it matures, but the Phoenix will still grow. In that case, it might be best to have a large door, or a building with two floors or more that has a terrace for easy access.”
Sagin-san continued, listing the details that would meet my conditions.
Indeed, since both of them can fly, entering through a terrace would not be a problem.
“Also, I think it would be best if the property is surrounded by high walls,” he added.
This was partly due to the rarity of Feni and Purple. If there’s a property where they could be easily seen, there might be people who would try to cause trouble out of jealousy.
“Please add that condition as well,” I said.
Sagin-san then began selecting properties that met these requirements.
“There are a few properties secured by the Tamer Guild where you can live with your summoned beasts. There are also some properties near the Adventurer Guild that are relatively inexpensive, but those are too small for your needs, so I wouldn’t suggest them.”
The small properties were meant for tamers who kept small summoned beasts.
“So, which area do you think would be suitable?” I asked.
Since I was now a national adventurer, there could be emergency summons, so it would be better to be close to the guild…
“For a larger property, I think the area where the Tamer Guild is located would be ideal. This district is reserved by the government for tamers, and many of the residents are either tamers or people working in related fields, so there’s less chance of trouble.”
The residents in this district understood summoned beasts, so it was safer than living in other areas.
The Tamer Guild in this country was only about a hundred years old. It all started when someone who tamed a Red Dragon made a huge contribution to the country, rose to nobility, and promoted the usefulness of summoned beasts. This led to the creation of the district for tamers within the capital.
The area around the Tamer Guild had farms and ranches inside the city walls, with thick, high walls surrounding the district, allowing both summoned beasts and humans to live safely.
I listened to Sagin-san’s explanation and decided that, although it was far from the Adventurer Guild, this area seemed like the best choice.
“Then, I’ll go with this district,” I said.
“Understood. I will now show you a few properties that match your criteria,” Sagin-san said.
He pulled a few papers from a file and placed them on the table in front of me.
“Currently, these three properties meet the requirements.”
The papers were filled with detailed information about the properties: the size of the land, the layout of the mansion, and what facilities were available for summoned beasts.
All three seemed like wonderful properties with no apparent issues. Looking to the side, I saw that Feni and Purple had mimicked me and were peering at the papers as well.
The walls separating the mansion looked high and thick, so it seemed like Feni and Purple could play in the garden without worry.
I stared at the properties, thinking that I could live more comfortably than I had expected. However…
“This price is… quite something.”
The price written on the papers was something I had never seen before in my life.
It was an amount that would take a lifetime of herb collection to afford.
“These properties were built by a certain noble. They’re near the center of the Tamer district, so the price is naturally high.”
Generally, properties on the outer edges of the capital were cheaper, and the closer you got to the center near the castle, the more expensive it became.
As a result, the people living in these areas ranged from regular citizens to merchants, knights, and nobles.
Even though this was the Tamer district, this trend remained. The mansions were attractive, but there was no way I could afford them, even if I stood on my head.
“Ah, by the way, the black powder we talked about was sold at auction,” the clerk said, as if remembering something.
“Ah, that’s right,” I replied.
It was the powder I had obtained from defeating the Elder Lich, which was made by mixing the scales of a Rainbow Butterfly and the magic power of an Elder Lich. It was a rare catalyst, and I had entrusted the Tamer Guild to sell it. I was happy to hear that it had been successfully sold.
“By the way, here is the amount you earned from the sale,” the clerk added, handing me a note.
I frowned as I read the note. The amount was indeed more than I could earn in a lifetime of hard work, but it still wasn’t enough to buy the mansion.
“This still won’t be enough,” I muttered.
Although the price was appealing, it was out of my reach.
“Since you are a national adventurer, wouldn’t installment payments be possible?” Sagin-san asked, tilting his head.
“Installment payments?”
“Installment payments are a system where a loan is provided to a trusted individual, who then uses the money to purchase what they want. Some national adventurers use this system when they need weapons or armor right away,” Sagin-san explained eagerly.
He went on, explaining the system to me in detail.
“These mansions are indeed expensive, but for summoned beasts to live comfortably, you cannot compromise on certain aspects. There are smaller properties available, but once the Phoenix and Rainbow Butterfly grow, you’d have to buy a new place, and considering the costs involved, it’s better to buy now.”
“That’s true, but I’m not sure if I can make the payments even with installments…” I replied.
From what I understood, I’d have to pay a fixed amount every month, and the payments were so high that I would be in trouble if anything unexpected happened.
“But Klaus-san, you are supplying rare items to the Tamer Guild, right? If you use 30% of the amount from those sales for the payments, you could pay off the loan in about ten years. And if you continue earning as a national adventurer, it won’t be an impossible amount,” Sagin-san said.
That was true. Since I was regularly supplying items like Phoenix feathers and Rainbow Butterfly scales, I had a more stable income than most people.
“By the way, the founder of the Tamer Guild became a noble by selling Red Dragon scales to earn money and build connections with the aristocracy, which helped create the current system,” Sagin-san added.
I was slowly being drawn into Sagin-san’s pace. As expected from one of the top real estate agents of the Tamer Guild, he quickly understood what I wanted and suggested a feasible way to make it happen. His skill was impressive.
“…Could I see the properties?” I asked.
I had no strong reason to refuse at this point, so I agreed.
Afterward, I spent half a day viewing the properties, and one of them was so liked by Feni and Purple that we ended up signing the contract.
