The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 52
Chapter 52: Rock
“Welcome back, Brother.”
When I returned from the Garconia Mine after two days, Celia was there to greet me.
“Celia, were you here?” I tilted my head, wondering if she should be at school at this time.
“I’m on exam break,” she replied, seemingly noticing the confusion on my face.
“So, is this what you collected?” she asked, craning her neck to look at the cart.
“That’s a lot, as expected from you, Brother,” she praised me without hesitation.
While I appreciated her praise, she soon noticed something was off.
“Brother, did something happen?” Celia asked, sensing my strange mood.
“Actually, I found this little guy,” I said, holding up Rock.
“Oh, how cute!” Celia exclaimed.
I placed Rock, who was trembling in my hand, in front of Celia. He was shaking, seemingly trying to protect the Scarlet Diamond Ore.
“For now, I’ll put the ores away and return the cart. I have to go somewhere. Can you watch over Feni and Purple for me?” I asked.
“Pi!” Feni chirped excitedly.
“….♪” Purple seemed content.
“You’re always busy, aren’t you? Even after coming back, you’re heading out again,” Celia said with sympathy, noticing I couldn’t get much rest.
“I see, so you found another new monster…” The guild clerk listened to my explanation and looked at Rock, who was hiding behind my hand.
“…(sweat)” Rock quickly darted away, hiding behind my hand with surprising agility.
“I work at the Tamer Guild too, so I know a fair amount about these cases. But there’s no one like you, Klaus, who keeps taming new types of monsters every time,” the clerk said, surprised.
“Really?” I tilted my head at the clerk’s comment.
“Most tamers either tame wild monsters by chance or raise monsters from birth to make them familiars. Very few people can tame wild monsters… it’s rare,” she explained.
We both looked at Rock, who was still hiding.
“In the history of our guild, the person who had the most familiars was Lint de Boyle, the founder of the guild. He had seventeen,” she added.
“That person… is he the one who founded the Boyle family?” I asked, trying to recall.
“Yes, he was the one who tamed the Red Dragon,” she confirmed.
Lint de Boyle was a legendary figure who helped establish the Tamer Guild’s current standing and showed the value of familiars. I had great respect for him ever since I heard how he overcame fierce opposition to build the guild.
“He was also liked by monsters, and he would often go outside and find monsters. The guild staff back then had a lot of trouble keeping up with him,” the clerk said, laughing as she recalled old stories.
“Could it be…” I thought for a moment. I had an idea.
The goddess Muse had once said she would share her power with talented individuals in the past. Perhaps Lint was similar to me in that sense.
“Klaus?” The clerk tilted her head, noticing I was lost in thought.
I quickly changed my focus. I would research this later.
“Anyway, can Rock be registered as a familiar?” I asked, getting back to the main purpose.
“Of course. Our guild’s motto is to create a world where monsters and humans live together in harmony. We accept any kind of monster,” the clerk said proudly, as if echoing Lint de Boyle’s wish.
I immediately began filling out the paperwork. This was my third time, so I was quite used to it. Since Rock was newly tamed, there wasn’t much to write, and I quickly finished.
“Now, as per the regulations, we’ll need to keep Rock here for a few days to check if everything’s in order,” the clerk said, reaching out for Rock.
“…(sweat) (cry)” Rock quickly climbed up my arm, hiding behind my neck.
I tried to catch him as he seemed unbalanced, possibly due to his rocky body, and almost fell.
“What’s wrong?” the clerk asked, noticing Rock’s fearful reaction.
“It seems like he’s afraid of being left behind,” I explained, feeling the trembling from his fear as it transferred to my neck.
“Poor thing,” the clerk sympathized. She understood that monsters weren’t always comfortable with new environments. For Rock, this was his first time outside the mines and in a human town, and it was understandably scary for him.
“Hmm, but he still needs to go through the examination,” the clerk said, looking uncertain. “What should we do?”
As it was part of her job, the clerk had to examine Rock before he could be officially recognized as a familiar.
“Well… can I stay with him?” I asked.
“That’s fine, but what about Feni and Purple?” she asked.
“They’ll be fine. My sister is with them,” I said. Celia came to the mansion almost every day after school, and Feni and Purple had grown close to her.
Since Celia was on her exam break, I could ask her to pass on a message to the mansion.
After giving Celia the message and completing some other formalities, I headed to the familiar care facility with the clerk.
