The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 57
Chapter 57: A Letter from Home
“Pii!”
Feni let out a cry, stood up, and faced me.
When I opened the shed door, she walked out with quick steps, making her way outside.
“Pipii!”
Letting out a deliberate cry, like a signal, a change occurred in Feni’s body.
Her body began to move in a puff, and yellow fluff balls popped out one after another from under her feathers.
“Piyopiyopiyo, piyopiyopiyo, piyopiyopiyo, piyopiyopiyo, piyopiyopiyo!”
The creatures that came out were chicks, and as they landed on the ground, they snuggled up to Feni’s feet.
“I need to clean the shed, so please stay a little further away.”
“Piiit!”
When I gave the instruction, Feni led the chicks to the garden.
It had been a week since the chicks were born. Their yellow fur was getting neater, and all of them were healthy and running around energetically.
As for Feni, perhaps due to developing a sense of responsibility as their guardian, she made sure to reunite any lost chicks with the others and would call out “Pii!” to those trying to wander into the bushes, instructing them to return.
It seemed that taking care of the chicks had become a fixed task for her.
Meanwhile, changes could also be seen with Purple and Rock.
“………#”
“………(Thank you)”
Perhaps jealous that Feni had gotten so many followers, Purple began looking after Rock.
She would lift Rock up on a string over the steps that Rock couldn’t climb and help him cut weeds in the garden.
Rock, who had initially been scared of Feni due to their first meeting, probably thought that Purple was kinder, and while he was initially fearful, he had now become obedient and followed her instructions.
Thanks to the trust I had in my three familiars, I could leave them alone without worry.
After a while, as I was immersed in cleaning the shed, Celia appeared.
“Brother, I just saw Feni and the others, and they were so cute!”
She was still in her school uniform, having stopped by the mansion on her way back from school. It had been a week since I’d last seen her, right after the exam break ended.
“The way Feni sticks her face out from under her feathers, the way the chicks cling to her and chirp, and the way Feni carefully protects them by tucking them under her feathers… I could watch it forever, it’s so cute!”
Celia spoke excitedly about what she had just seen.
It was true that watching animals interact was something one could enjoy for hours, but if you weren’t careful, time would just slip by without completing what you planned to do.
“Rock and Purple seem to get along so well too. It’s really soothing to watch.”
Celia placed her hand on her cheek and gazed at the garden with a dreamy look.
At first, I had been worried that the addition of Rock would create conflict among the three familiars, but it seemed that each one had made the best choice, and there was no sign of them fighting. I was relieved about that.
“By the way, about Rock, things have been progressing well with the research.”
Celia entered the shed to help clean as she listened to me.
“I tried grinding some types of ore into sand and feeding it to Rock, and it later expelled them in round clumps.”
I also checked which sand Rock liked, and it seemed that Rainbow Butterfly scales were Rock’s favorite. Generally, the rarer the mineral, the more he liked it.
“He expels it about once or twice a day. It seems like he spits out what he ate after a few days.”
Since he couldn’t keep it inside all at once, most of it was expelled, but it seemed that his body was gradually growing.
“It seems that Rock absorbs the magical energy of the minerals and that the expelled material has lost all its magic.”
I wasn’t sure how this could be used, but it would probably be best to consult an expert about the future uses.
I then showed Celia the rainbow-colored gem that Rock had produced.
“The color changes while you look at it. It’s so beautiful. I’ve never seen a gem like this.”
As a girl, Celia naturally liked beautiful things. This gem could only be made when both the Rainbow Butterfly scales and the Petite Golem’s expulsion were in sync, so for now, only I had one.
“Would you like one?”
Since she seemed so eager, I offered to give it to her.
“W-wouldn’t it be too expensive to accept something like this!?”
“It may be rare, but Purple and Rock keep producing them, so it’s not a big deal.”
Even if I gave one to Celia, I still had several left, and more would continue to be produced in the future.
“It might be wrong to sell it, but if you don’t show it to anyone, it’s fine for you to keep it.”
She knew about Rock’s secret, so it wouldn’t matter if one more secret was added.
I had never seen Celia with such an expression before. If she wanted it that badly, it was only natural for me, as her brother, to want to give it to her.
“Well… then… I’ll take one. Is that okay? Purple, Rock?”
Celia carefully took the gem from my hand and asked for permission from Purple and Rock.
“………♪”
“………(Okay)”
Purple moved her wings and responded, while Rock gave a thumbs up.
Both of them loved Celia, so this was a natural response.
“Wow, it’s really beautiful. I think I’ll turn it into a necklace and wear it all the time.”
Celia gazed at the gem with delight, her face filled with happiness. I was glad I gave it to her.
For a while, Celia kept staring at the gem, and then…
“That’s right, brother. Actually, I came here for another reason today.”
She handed me an envelope.
I took it, and Celia nodded to encourage me to read it.
“Pii”
“………&”
“………(Interest)”
All three familiars gathered around and peeked at the letter. When I finished reading it, I let out a sigh.
“I see, Dad and Mom are coming to the capital, huh?”
“Yes, we’ll have to prepare to welcome them.”
After confirming the contents of the letter, Celia said those words.
