The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 63
Chapter 63: The Elf and the Dwarf
The day after Mr. Lebrant suggested that he wanted to introduce me to someone, he and I visited the Alchemy Guild.
The building, located in the heart of the commercial district, was massive, comparable to a castle in size.
People were constantly entering and exiting through the entrance, creating a bustling atmosphere.
“This way,” Mr. Lebrant said.
Without hesitation, he entered and made his way toward the reception.
“I am Lebrant from the Tamer Guild. I have an appointment for a meeting,” he announced.
“Understood. Please follow me,” the receptionist said, extending her right hand before walking ahead of us into the depths of the building.
We followed her down a corridor restricted to authorized personnel and arrived at a conference room.
The receptionist knocked on the door.
“I’ve brought the guest,” she said, opening the door.
Inside, there were two people sitting. One was a beautiful young woman, and the other was a short, muscular man with a beard.
“The woman is Tabasa, and the other is Godz,” Mr. Lebrant explained as he approached me.
He had seemed rather nervous up until we arrived here.
“Stop talking and bring him over here. I can introduce myself, no need for you to do it again,” said Tabasa.
“Hmph, always the same attitude. Can’t you be a little kinder to young people?” Mr. Lebrant responded.
As we stood at the entrance, the two began to argue.
“I heard you turned away a customer the other day, saying, ‘Do you think I have any weapons to sell to someone like you?'” Tabasa retorted.
“That’s because the young man asked for some flashy, powerful sword without any idea of what he was doing,” Godz replied.
With pointed ears, Tabasa was obviously an elf, and judging by his appearance, Godz was likely a dwarf.
“Please calm down, both of you!” Mr. Lebrant stepped in, causing the two to fall silent.
“I’ll introduce myself properly. I’m Tabasa, Guild Master of the Alchemy Guild,” she said.
“I’m Godz, Guild Master of the Smithing Guild,” Godz added.
Elves are skilled in magic, and dwarves are expert blacksmiths, so their titles as guild masters were understandable.
“By the way, Lebrant, is this the boy who commands the Rainbow Butterfly?” Godz asked, giving me a sharp look.
“I hear he also commands a Phoenix. We’ve been using Phoenix Feathers and Rainbow Butterfly Scales in our work,” Tabasa said with a dreamy smile, almost entranced by the thought.
“Right now, the Phoenix Feathers and Rainbow Butterfly Scales that Klaus has commissioned are being bought by both the Alchemy Guild and the Smithing Guild,” Mr. Lebrant added.
“So, why exactly was I called here?” I asked.
I was under the impression that all dealings were handled by the Tamer Guild, and there was no reason for me to meet with such important people from both guilds.
Tabasa answered, “It’s to discuss whether you can increase the production of Rainbow Butterfly Scales.”
“Yes, the agreement with the Tamer Guild was that we would take whatever you could produce,” I explained, as it had already been decided that the Tamer Guild would handle the matter.
“That’s true, but lately, the amount being supplied has decreased. Are you selling it elsewhere?” Godz asked.
Indeed, the amount had decreased, but I wasn’t selling it elsewhere; it was simply being consumed by us internally. However, I couldn’t explain about Rock just yet, so I couldn’t use that as an excuse.
“Well, that’s true, but I’ve told Mr. Lebrant that I can only provide as much as the summoned creatures can handle. I can’t promise more than that,” I answered, making it clear I wouldn’t budge.
Seeing my resolve, the two fell silent and looked at me with probing eyes.
“You’re hearing it from him too. Please stop pushing for more,” Mr. Lebrant pleaded with them desperately.
“Well, if you can’t increase the production, then it can’t be helped. I don’t want to force you and risk not being able to buy from you anymore,” Tabasa said.
“That’s what I told you. Don’t push Lebrant too hard,” Godz added.
“But you were the one who suggested calling him here. Are you trying to make me the bad guy?” Tabasa shot back.
“You’re the one who didn’t listen to my advice and then lashed out. What’s your problem?” Godz snapped.
Once again, Tabasa and Godz began arguing.
“Actually, in order to become a guild master, you need the approval of three other guild masters. I’ve been indebted to them since that time,” Mr. Lebrant explained with a bitter expression.
It seemed he was in a difficult position, caught between me and the two guild masters. I understood he couldn’t reject the request of someone who had helped him, so I wouldn’t say anything more.
Given that, I realized that although Tabasa appeared to be a young woman, she must at least be older than Mr. Lebrant.
“Hm?” Tabasa shot me a glare. A moment later, she resumed arguing with Godz, but it felt like she had read my thoughts at the perfect moment, and I was a little surprised.
“Well, in that case, I suppose we have no choice,” I said, turning to Mr. Lebrant, who looked downhearted.
Since Mr. Lebrant was my guardian and had been helped by these guild masters, I understood why he couldn’t reject their requests.
I could now clearly see why Marguerite had advised me against gathering recommenders. Had I done so at the party, I might have been under pressure from all sides by now, exhausted from dealing with it.
Thinking about it, I was certain that relying on Marguerite had been the right choice, especially since my current guardian hadn’t made any demands.
“Then let’s cut off sales to the Smithing Guild! Klaus, you want to sell the scales to me, right?” Tabasa proposed.
“That’s my line! The Elder Lich powder the other day, that was bought by the Alchemy Guild at auction!” Godz countered.
I had heard that the Elder Lich powder had been auctioned off by several guilds for a high price, but hearing that the Alchemy Guild had won the bid was new to me.
It was thanks to that money that I was able to buy the mansion, and I was grateful for that.
As the argument between Tabasa and Godz heated up, I decided it was time to intervene.
“Okay, how about this: I’ll increase the supply little by little. How does that sound?” I suggested.
Both of them turned to me at the same time.
“Is that alright?” Mr. Lebrant asked for confirmation.
I nodded.
Purple was fond of the scale dust, so much that he kept asking Celia for more each day. Increasing the supply slightly wouldn’t be a burden.
Though there was the issue of Rock absorbing some of the powder, he had started showing interest in other metals recently, so that should be fine.
“Then, in exchange, may I make a request of both of you?” I asked, wanting to negotiate a bit.
“A give-and-take situation, huh? Alright,” Tabasa agreed.
“I don’t mind either. I’ll treat you better than that girl,” Godz said with a grin.
“For Godz, I’d like to ask for weapon and armor crafting services using the materials I provide,” I said.
“Leave it to me! It’s a joy for a craftsman to work with rare materials. I’ll take on any difficult request,” he replied cheerfully.
His enthusiastic response made me smile.
“And as for me?” Tabasa asked, her eyes gleaming with competitive spirit.
“Well, actually…” I began, preparing to tell her my request.
