The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 64
Chapter 64: Visiting the Alchemist Guild (Part 1)
“Welcome to the Alchemist Guild. I’m glad to have you.”
The next day, I visited the Alchemist Guild again.
“Ah, thank you. I’m sorry for asking you to do something like this.”
Beside me, Celia bowed her head nervously.
“You don’t need to be that nervous. I won’t bite you,” said Tabasa with a smile, placing a hand on her mouth.
Her gesture was beautiful, and I almost found myself staring at her, but then I remembered how terrified Lebrant had been, and I snapped myself out of it.
“Still, Klaus, wanting to show your sister around the Alchemist Guild… Are you a siscon?”
“…She’s just an important family member.”
I knew it myself, but when someone pointed it out, I felt the urge to argue.
What I had asked her for was a tour of the Alchemist Guild.
Since Celia had always been interested in alchemy, I thought this would be a good opportunity for her to take a look.
“Come on, big brother. Don’t make that awkward face. It’s rude,” Celia nudged me with her elbow. Her expression showed that she was genuinely interested in the guild and looking forward to touring the inside of the building.
“By the way, is it really alright for us to be here? I hope we’re not intruding.”
Celia changed her expression and spoke to Tabasa on my behalf.
“It’s fine. If you’re Klaus’s family, you’re always welcome, and I want to get along with him from now on,” Tabasa replied.
I couldn’t just accept her words at face value. I was sure she was after the materials.
“By the way, you really have a lot of magical power, don’t you? It’s almost on par with an elf.”
Tabasa narrowed her eyes as she looked over Celia. Like Celia, those skilled in magic can apparently see the magical power of others.
“I think if you learn alchemy now, you could be really useful in the future. How about coming in for an internship?”
Tabasa began to make her offer, having recognized Celia’s talent.
“U-uh… I’m really honored, but… I’m aiming to be a court mage…”
Celia had the goal of becoming a court mage, so she declined.
“Even so, asking for a tour of the Alchemist Guild to increase the trade volume of scale dust? Klaus, you really are studious, aren’t you?”
“I don’t have the education like my sister, and I ended up becoming an adventurer instead. I wouldn’t have the chance to learn in places like this if I didn’t take it.”
Throughout my time as an adventurer, I’d often found that the knowledge I picked up from others had come in handy.
Since I would now be working as a national adventurer, I’d need specialized knowledge beyond just fighting.
So, I asked for the tour, since the guild master of the Alchemist Guild was right in front of me.
“Normally, I’d be the one to guide you, but I’ve got a meeting to attend. I’ll arrange for someone else to take over. Could you wait a bit longer?”
“Yes, thank you for making time for us despite your busy schedule.”
With that, Tabasa left. She could’ve just left it to the receptionist, but she took the time to come out herself, which showed her thoughtfulness.
“By the way, you answered so quickly, huh?”
Now that we were alone, I turned to Celia and brought up the earlier conversation.
She stopped drinking her tea, held the cup with both hands, and seemed to be thinking.
“Isn’t it a great honor that the guild master of the Alchemist Guild invited you personally?”
Although she had a goal, I thought it might have been good for her to keep some options open. I confirmed this with Celia.
“I do find alchemy quite interesting. I’ve asked friends from different departments about it, and since it’s an area that’s useful in daily life, even a little knowledge can be very helpful.”
“Then…?”
“But, I want to be recognized for my own abilities and earn that job.”
She looked at me seriously, her blue eyes shining.
“Thanks to you, this tour was made possible, but meeting the guild master… That’s something that normally wouldn’t happen for another five years after joining the guild.”
Celia said this as if it was common sense.
It seemed that for someone like me, who had quickly been noticed by important people, it was rare.
If she was going to be recognized, she wanted to win it through her own efforts, not just because of her connection to me.
Her determined gaze made that clear. I remembered that Celia also had this competitive side.
“More than that, since I have the chance to see so much today, I want to learn as much as I can and tell my friends about it.”
It seemed that it was rare for someone who wasn’t part of the guild to see the inside, and Celia had a look of excitement on her face.
“By the way, the guide sure is taking a while, huh?”
We had been in the reception room for a while now. I could see Celia getting impatient, and just as I smiled wryly about it, the door was knocked, and someone entered.
“Sorry for the wait. I will now be your guide through the Alchemist Guild.”
The person who entered, with her golden hair swaying as she bowed gracefully, met my gaze. Both of us were surprised and opened our mouths at the same time.
“Why are you here?”
“Why are you at the Alchemist Guild?”
“Big brother, do you know her?”
Celia looked back and forth between the two of us.
The person who entered, the one who was going to guide us through the Alchemist Guild, was—
—a student from the Royal Academy, and someone I had met during the national adventurer exam, Lorraine.
