The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 67
Chapter 67: Visiting the Alchemist Guild (Part 3)
While walking behind Lorraine, Celia and I observed the plants on both sides of the hallway with interest.
The fields were well-maintained, and signs were placed to indicate the names of the plants.
It seemed that the guild members were taking care of the plants. Some were dressed in white coats or work clothes, looking serious as they engaged in discussions around the area.
The plants were mostly those that could be found in the market, a little rare at most… ranging from E-rank to D-rank rare items. With this much, the total value would likely be quite high.
The security of the doors was strengthened, likely to prevent theft. It would be impossible for anyone, even researchers, to take things out of here without permission.
“Now, earlier I talked about how removing the earth magic could prevent hindering the growth of herbs. This time, we are doing research based on the opposite idea,” Lorraine explained.
She stopped in front of a small building inside the facility.
Using Lorraine’s card, she deactivated the security, and we entered.
The fact that this place was secured with even more precautions meant it was a building dealing with something important.
“It feels… dim and… scary,” Celia said, her expression twisting in the dark. She seemed uneasy, covering her mouth with her hand.
“This place is conducting a special experiment. While removing magic allows weaker plants to grow, we are testing whether injecting magic can help us grow stronger plants,” Lorraine explained.
Inside, a thick transparent wall separated a room where flowers were growing, each one lit with red, blue, and green lights.
“We’re using magic tools that can change attributes to fill each room with fire, water, and wind magic, creating a saturated magical environment,” she continued.
Indeed, as she pointed out, I could sense the magic emanating from each room. Even I could detect it, meaning the magic must be very intense.
“Basically, extremely rare plants are said to exist in places like secret realms or magical zones, which are places rich in magic. The stronger the magic, the stronger the monsters are, and conversely, in areas with weaker magic, the monsters are weaker. This means that in areas with concentrated magic, plants can have stronger vitality,” Lorraine explained.
I could easily understand that logic.
In this world, living creatures cannot be separated from magic, and those who hold magic are able to wield powerful abilities like magic.
“Does that mean we could recreate something like the Crystal Herb?” I asked, remembering the rare plant I had fed to Purple before.
“In theory, yes, but with the current magic tools and catalysts, it’s far from enough. To make it possible, we would need to prepare a large quantity of A-rank rare catalysts…” Lorraine furrowed her brow, looking troubled. If we need so many rare catalysts, the costs would skyrocket, and perhaps it would be more reliable to place an order for one or two.
“Brother, I… I’ll go ahead…” Celia said hurriedly while holding her mouth. She looked pale as she rushed outside.
“H-Hey… Are you okay?” I asked, chasing after her, only to find her collapsed on the ground.
“I’m sorry… I felt nauseous…” Celia said with a pale face, almost in tears.
“It might be magic intoxication. I’ve never experienced it, but highly skilled magic users sometimes feel ill in areas with dense magic. Melissa, too, would turn pale after magic classes when powerful spells were being cast,” Lorraine explained.
“I’m sorry… I was so excited to hear about such an amazing experiment…” Celia apologized.
“Don’t push yourself too hard,” I said, rubbing Celia’s back. She gave a relieved expression and looked at me.
“I’m sorry, too. There are other rare plants I wanted to show you, but let’s put those aside for now and take a break,” Lorraine said. She led us out of the building and toward the cafeteria.
