The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 78
Chapter 78: Lucia and Shopping
“By the way, Klaus, you became a national adventurer in the shortest time possible, and now you’re setting up a mansion and throwing a party. You’re really promising, aren’t you?”
As we walked down the road, Lucia looked at me and evaluated me.
Her casual and friendly way of talking was actually something I appreciated.
“That’s all thanks to Feni, Purple, and the others.”
I had just been fortunate enough to receive power from the goddess Muse.
If I had been the person who was originally supposed to receive the power, I would have achieved much more by now.
“Hmm.”
However, it seemed Lucia didn’t quite like my answer. She puckered her lips and let out a hum.
“What’s wrong?”
Noticing her reaction, I asked her.
“I don’t know if you’re being humble or if you’re just lacking confidence,” Lucia said.
Her purple eyes were staring directly at me. Unlike her usual teasing expression, she looked serious.
“Confidence or anything…”
For a moment, I hesitated under Lucia’s gaze and struggled to respond.
“Being too humble can be unpleasant, and while you seem to lack confidence, your actions are bold, so it makes me worried when I watch you.”
Lucia raised her finger as she continued to speak.
“At the very least, all of us at the academy owe our lives to you. We are grateful, and we even respect you.”
Lucia continued her words.
“When you act so self-deprecating, it makes it hard for us to know how to interact with you!”
I was stunned by Lucia’s words.
Indeed, I had always held back from praising myself too much. She was now reprimanding me for it.
“You could at least say something like, ‘I’m amazing, so everyone should respect me.'”
“That’s a bit too much…”
Lucia said this jokingly, but she likely wanted me to adopt an attitude close to that. With a smile, she seemed to consider the advice finished.
“By the way, I want to buy a gift for Feni and Purple. What should I get them?”
She changed the topic.
Looking at the stalls on both sides of the road, Lucia thought hard about what to buy for the two animals.
Since we were about to leave the commercial district, she must have decided it was the best time to choose from the wide variety of goods.
“Purple would be happy with some herbs, and Feni will pretty much eat anything…”
Both of them were omnivores. Purple, in particular, would sometimes eat captured small monsters straight away.
“Really? I see.”
Lucia rested her chin in thought, showing signs of worry.
“I’ve decided. Let’s buy a ball!”
“Why a ball?”
“I thought Purple and the others might enjoy playing with it.”
Since buying the mansion, I had let the three summoned beasts roam freely around the grounds, but I hadn’t thought of using toys for play. So, I had overlooked the idea.
“Yeah, that might actually be a good idea.”
“I knew it!”
Lucia responded with a happy voice as she bought the ball.
“Welcome back.”
It took about an hour by carriage from Lucia’s home to mine. Although I had made a small detour, I had arrived more or less as planned.
“Are you expecting someone, Klaus?”
When I got home, Celia greeted me.
“You have a guest… Oh?”
Celia looked at Lucia, who was behind me.
“Wait… you are…?”
“Ah, so you know Lucia?”
“You’re Celia, right? Klaus’ sister?”
Lucia confirmed with Celia.
“I’ve heard about you from Lorraine. You had a hard time during your debutante, didn’t you?”
“No, really, thank you so much for that time.”
Apparently, at her debutante, Celia had been harassed by nobles and their entourages, but the three of them had helped her out.
“It’s fine. It was Melissa who couldn’t stand it, so she did something about it.”
It seemed that Melissa had reprimanded them for bullying someone weaker.
“So, why is Lucia here at your house?”
Celia tilted her head and asked the reason.
“We’re planning the party, and Lebrant introduced me to the person in charge, and it turned out to be Lucia’s family.”
“Yeah, that’s right. So I came to scout the place.”
After hearing our explanation, Celia seemed to understand.
“I see. I’m sorry for making you stand here. Please, come into the sitting room.”
Celia said as she headed toward the kitchen. She was probably going to make tea.
“That room over there is the sitting room. Would you mind waiting inside?”
I pointed to a door located immediately inside the house.
“Aren’t you coming in, Klaus?”
Lucia tilted her head, wondering if I wasn’t joining her in the room.
“I thought I’d go look for Feni and Purple.”
Since Lucia had come all this way, Feni and Purple would probably want to see her too. I decided to go search for them.
