The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 87
Chapter 87: The Day Before the Hunt
“Alright, from here on, we’ll use this abandoned village as our base to hunt the Cockatrices.”
Several days had passed since our encounter with the Cockatrices, and we had arrived at an abandoned village in the fronKlaustier.
“On our way here, the scout team managed to eliminate some of the Cockatrices they discovered,” Paris, our leader, said as everyone listened carefully.
“However, according to the scout team’s reports, there are still about a dozen Cockatrices hiding in the area nearby.”
This was the real challenge, so everyone tightened their expressions.
“Starting tomorrow, we’ll be visiting areas where the Cockatrices might be nesting, so make sure to rest well tonight.”
A single mistake in judgment could lead to death. We decided to rest and prepare ourselves in the best possible condition.
“Hah, finally, I can sleep in a bed.”
Ritz sat down on the bed, took off his shoes, and relaxed.
“Ritz! Dust is going to fly everywhere! Sit quietly!”
“What do you expect? The place hasn’t been cleaned!” Ritz responded.
After we broke up, we each stayed in separate houses as parties.
This village was abandoned because it was far from the main roads, and no one lived here anymore. The villagers had moved to a nearby town, leaving only the buildings behind.
“Well, well, I’ll clean it up,” I said.
I used my Purifying Flame to burn the dust off the bed. The bed itself was old, so it wasn’t ideal for a good night’s sleep, but it was better than nothing.
“Anyway, let’s talk about tomorrow,” Carol said in a calm voice, gathering us around. She spread a map out on the table.
“There are three main locations where the Cockatrices are likely to be. We’ve been assigned this one.”
It was a place that seemed to be between a wasteland and a forest. A little further ahead, there was the forest, and the open area was rocky—perfect for Cockatrices to nest.
Other possible spots included near a small river or deep in the forest, all equidistant from the village.
“Klaus and I will be the frontliners. Hanna and Ritz will be on the sides to intercept any Cockatrices trying to flank us.”
We had gotten a feel for the situation from the fight a few days ago, and no one had any objections.
“Alright, let’s eat.”
For a moment, Carol looked cool as she wrapped up the planning, but the next instant, she returned to her usual self, her stomach growling and her thoughts unclear, just like when we first met.
“Anyway! As long as we watch out for petrification, these monsters aren’t that strong. Let’s take them down quickly and head back to the capital.”
“Ritz, that was a good thing to say.”
Everyone cheered up at Ritz’s words, and after resting, we prepared for the hunt the next day.
