Chapter 105: The Yggdra Empire Conference
The Stesia Kingdom is a powerful nation located on the southern side of the continent.
To the north, beyond the mountains, lies the Yggdra Empire, which has a history spanning several hundred years. To the east stretches the vast desert kingdom of Grants. To the west is the Silas Kingdom, whose territory consists of a great forest.
Currently, the national strength of the Yggdra Empire and the Stesia Kingdom is evenly matched, creating a tense situation where the eastern and western nations are waiting for an opportunity.
“This meeting will now explain the current state of the Stesia Kingdom.”
Amid this tension, a conference was being held in the Yggdra Empire.
“Right now, the quality of weapons and armor in the royal capital is improving, and the production and quality of potions have increased.”
Hearing these words, the participants in the meeting frowned. Until now, the balance of power between the two nations had helped maintain stability on the continent. But now, the Stesia Kingdom had strengthened its national power.
“Regarding the recent stampede, hasn’t it caused some damage to their country?”
One of the men attending the meeting brought up a problem that had been troubling the Stesia Kingdom recently.
“We investigated that as well, but due to the availability of better equipment and an abundance of healing potions, the damage was not as severe as expected.”
“Even so, what about the surrounding nations? They should have been able to take advantage of the situation and attack at that time, right?”
The Evil God Cult had leaked information about the Stesia Kingdom’s situation to neighboring nations in advance. Even though it was a shady move, it wouldn’t have been surprising if some countries had tried to exploit the opportunity.
“The reason for that is none other than the sudden appearance of a Red Dragon that kept them in check.”
“That damn Red Dragon blocked their way, huh…”
Unlike wild monsters, monsters that act under human command are several times—no, dozens of times—more troublesome to deal with.
For example, if a B-rank monster, which normally requires multiple knights to subdue, is being controlled, then with precise commands, the necessary force to counter it would need to be three times greater.
A hundred years ago, when the Yggdra Empire invaded the Stesia Kingdom and was on the verge of capturing the royal capital, a Red Dragon appeared out of nowhere.
The Red Dragon soared freely through the sky and relentlessly rained fire down on the soldiers of the Yggdra Empire alone.
Rather than aiming for victory in battle, it seemed to act solely to increase the number of injured soldiers. Because of that, they failed to take it down and ended up tasting bitter defeat.
“Ever since that day, the Stesia Kingdom has been an impregnable fortress.”
Perhaps due to the terrifying tales of that brutal battle, the surrounding nations feared the Red Dragon and refrained from making a move.
“But why has their national strength suddenly increased?”
The highest authority in the room, the First Prince of the Yggdra Empire, Grain, voiced his doubt. As silence filled the room, an investigator cleared his throat.
“It seems that a new genius tamer has appeared.”
“Could it be the descendant of the famous Rint?”
Rint was the hero who transformed the small nation of Stesia into an unshakable powerhouse in less than a hundred years. Naturally, the empire had been keeping an eye on his lineage.
“No, apparently, this person suddenly appeared in the royal capital.”
Despite having numerous spies infiltrating the Stesia Kingdom, the Yggdra Empire had failed to gather information in time because of how abruptly this individual had emerged.
“They have tamed an S-rank mythical beast, a Phoenix, and reportedly have several other high-rank monsters as familiars.”
Until now, information about Klaus had been kept top secret by the Stesia Kingdom, preventing it from leaking to foreign nations.
Since he wasn’t originally recognized as a particularly talented individual, he had remained unnoticed. Even the nobles weren’t aware of Klaus’s existence until he became a national adventurer, which had worked in his favor.
“If that’s true, Stesia is about to enter an era where they dominate alone.”
Until now, diplomacy had been used to contain Stesia, but if they possessed a second S-rank monster, the situation would change entirely.
Everyone in the room understood this and fell silent.
“In that case, everything depends on that person’s research…”
Grain recalled a certain individual.
A genius, the greatest in Yggdra Empire’s history…
“As for that research, it appears to be stalled at the moment.”
“Why?”
Grain questioned.
“It seems that a crucial catalyst is required, but the current available materials are of such poor quality that they cannot be used.”
The investigator explained.
Indeed, the subject of this research had remained unsolved for years, even with the combined intellect of the entire empire. Grain decided to reach out to his own connections for help.
“Putting that matter aside for now, is there anything else?”
The situation was clear—Stesia was a threat, but there was not yet a decisive difference in power. As Grain was about to conclude the meeting…
“Instead of just sitting back and watching, shouldn’t we at least try to weaken their military strength?”
One of the participants proposed this idea.
“No, there’s no need for us to take action ourselves.”
According to reports from the spies they had planted, the surrounding nations were already making their moves.
“We’ll just sit back and watch from above.”
Grain smirked.
A new conspiracy was about to creep toward Klaus.
Support "THE GODDESS GRANTED ME THE [HATCHING] SKILL AND SOMEHOW I BECAME THE STRONGEST TAMER, COMMANDING MYTHICAL AND DIVINE BEASTS"
A new conspiracy? Can’t wait to read what will be happening.
Thanks for the treat.
