Chapter 115: Charlotte’s Request

I knocked on the door of the reception room and stepped inside.

“Sorry to keep you waiting..”

I had expected someone like Carol to visit this early in the morning, but when I entered the room and saw who it was, I was surprised.

“Good morning, Lord Klaus.”

Charlotte was sitting in the reception room, sipping tea.

I stood there in shock at the unexpected visitor until Celia spoke to me.

“Brother, instead of standing in front of the door, why don’t you have a seat?”

She was preparing tea for me.

“Oh, yeah.”

Still feeling a bit confused, I sat across from Charlotte and took a moment to gather my thoughts.

As always, she was impeccably composed. Her hair was neatly styled, she was dressed elegantly, and her every movement was graceful.

It almost felt as if the room had transformed into a royal reception hall. Just by being here, she made the space feel more refined.

“Um, sorry for making you wait.”

Unable to find a better way to start the conversation, I ended up repeating myself. Charlotte simply placed a hand over her mouth and smiled.

“I was the one who dropped by unannounced. Besides, Celia’s tea is so delicious that I was enjoying every sip.”

She graciously eased the awkwardness.

“I’m honored by your kind words.”

Celia placed a cup of tea in front of me and gave a respectful bow.

“Well then, Brother, if you need anything, please let me know.”

With that, Celia left the room. Her expression was stiffer than usual, probably because Charlotte was a noble lady.

“Miss Celia is quite remarkable.”

After seeing Celia off, Charlotte commented on her abilities.

“Yeah. We left our hometown together and came to the royal capital, where she enrolled in a magic academy. She’s talented—she even became the top student in her year. She’s hardworking, takes care of the house, and looks after Feni and the others. I can’t even count how many times she’s helped me.”

As I spoke about Celia, Charlotte chuckled softly, covering her mouth with her hand.

“Everyone around you is so kind, Lord Klaus. This house, too—it has such a warm atmosphere. I feel like I could just relax completely.”

Charlotte narrowed her eyes and smiled.

Her presence was calming, but I was more curious about why she had come to visit.

“So, what brings you here today?”

She wouldn’t visit my house without a good reason. Did Mr. Douglas send her with an urgent matter?

Maybe she came to push for progress on getting more familiars.

I focused, making sure not to miss a single word, when Charlotte’s expression suddenly changed.

She looked away from me, placed a hand on her chest, and took a deep breath.

Her eyes were slightly moist, and she seemed tense as she spoke.

“What I’m about to say is improper.”

I could tell she was gathering her courage to speak. In that case, my role wasn’t to judge her but to make it easier for her to talk.

“It’s okay. I would never think of you that way, Charlotte.”

Hearing that seemed to ease her tension, and she finally got to the point.

“About our promise the other day—is it still valid?”

She must be referring to Koku and Riko.

Back then, she pointed out that I hadn’t given Riko a name, which was why Koku refused to accept me.

If she hadn’t advised me, things might have remained strained between us. There was no expiration date on that promise.

“Of course. Just tell me what you need.”

Charlotte stood up, walked around to my side, and took both of my hands in hers before making her request.

“Lord Klaus, would you please join me in the [Tamer Camp]?”
