The Goddess Granted Me the [Hatching] Skill and Somehow I Became the Strongest Tamer, Commanding Mythical and Divine Beasts - 36
“Ah, that felt so good.”
Melissa collapsed onto the bed in the carriage, hugging a pillow. After being bathed in Klaus’s purifying flames, her complexion improved, and her cheeks were flushed.
“Really, his skill is amazing.”
Lorraine placed her hand on her cheek, recalling the purifying flames Klaus had just displayed. It was surprising that he could use such power on everyone present and still be perfectly fine afterward.
“Plus, during the escort mission, he immediately used that flame to protect me!”
Lucia, sitting with her face leaning forward, happily spoke to the other two.
“For someone our age to possess that kind of strength… Who exactly is he?”
Melissa suddenly questioned Klaus’s true identity. It was hard to believe that among the outstanding talents gathered from across the nation, someone even better than them, of the same generation, existed.
“If he’s taking the national adventurer exam, he must have a solid background, but could such a talented person have been overlooked in the ranks?”
From a young age, the nation assesses talents and skills, so it seemed unlikely that such a useful skill could have gone unnoticed until now.
Why did it feel as if he appeared out of nowhere?
“Let’s not worry about the details. For now, let’s just be glad that he’s exceptional and that he ended up as our group’s escort.”
At Lucia’s words, Melissa and Lorraine considered the situation.
“True… But with such power, there will surely be nobles and merchants who want him.”
It would be a mistake to underestimate his ability as merely cleansing. To be able to purify without removing armor and maintain weapons and armor would be useful in countless situations.
“Everyone is probably already buzzing with rumors about him by now.”
The thirty students selected from the academy were all the children of prestigious nobles or wealthy merchants, constantly looking for exceptional individuals to recruit into their families.
“But Klaus, right? If he’s taking the national adventurer exam, he must have a sponsor, correct? Things could get complicated if he’s aligned with a different faction.”
Melissa sat up with a serious expression and looked at the other two.
“Yes, indeed. I can’t imagine our fathers would overlook someone like him. It might be better to assume there’s a reason why they haven’t approached him yet.”
If that were the case, Lorraine thought it would be wise to tread carefully when considering recruiting him.
“By the way, I have a place I want to visit tomorrow…”
Changing the subject, Lorraine consulted the two about her plans for the next day.
“Sure, that’s fine. Especially since we have a strong escort with us.”
“Yes, I have no objections.”
Lucia and Melissa nodded in agreement with Lorraine’s proposal.

“Is it morning already?”
I woke up as I felt something stir near my chest.
Purple, using its silk to form a protective lattice around my body, ensured I wouldn’t accidentally crush it.
Thanks to defeating numerous monsters since we arrived here, Purple seemed to have grown yet again. Its body had become noticeably larger.
“Sorry about making it cramped for you.”
“…☆”
When I spoke, I could feel Purple’s response. It seemed to be reassuring me that it wasn’t bothered at all.
Revealing the existence of the Rainbow Butterfly would make others realize that I’m the tamer everyone’s been talking about. That could lead to people probing me for how I tamed it, which could be a hassle. For now, only the examiner and a few academy teachers knew about my familiar.
“…シュルシュル”
I felt the silk retracting. I reached through my clothes and touched Purple’s antennae.
“…♪”
It nuzzled closer to me, seeking affection. It had worked hard, so I thought about rewarding it with a trip to its favorite place once this escort mission was over.
“Let’s do our best today too.”
I spent time with Purple until the students woke up.
“Alright! Time to get started on today’s investigation!”
After finishing breakfast and waiting for Melissa and the others to get ready, we began today’s investigation.
Melissa called out to me as she approached, and Lorraine and Lucia were also looking at me.
It seemed cleaning them up the other day had paid off, as their attitudes had softened.
“Klaus, you’re on the front line today. I’m counting on you.”
“Understood. I’ll leave the rear to you.”
Even Blaze’s attitude had become more relaxed. Refreshed and no longer aggressive like before, he was now much more cooperative.
I’m glad I used the purifying flame. It was much better than dealing with unnecessary tension.
“I was thinking of visiting the chapel today. Is that alright?”
Melissa asked about today’s destination.
The chapel was a large area deep in the demon castle where C-rank monsters called Ghouls appeared. Unlike Wraiths, another C-rank monster, Ghouls were troublesome with their quick movements, poisonous claws, and biting attacks.
Given the chapel’s location deep within the castle and the challenging nature of the monsters there, only a few groups had ventured there previously.
“Yes, wherever you’d like to go, Melissa.”
That being said, I had already confirmed that the purifying flame could neutralize poison, so there was no need to worry. Since she had taken the time to ask, I felt obliged to grant her request.
“Thanks. I appreciate it.”
Melissa smiled and expressed her gratitude.
“Alright, then today’s investigation will be at the chapel.”
Turning back, she informed Lorraine and Lucia.
