It is rumored to be an “Apocryphal Fragment” of the Hero’s myth. The original chosen Hero faltered on the battlefield, falling into disgrace as a useless bum.
And so…
The multiverse’s most popular and benevolent Goddess of Grand Might descends in person.
She personally claims the timeline.
Forgoing all divine magic, she uses only her Holy Form to restrain and subdue the Twelve Demon Kings, one by one. The chronicler noted on the margin: “When the black mist clears, humanity will look upon the Holy Presence, not the Holy Sword.”
The feeble young Hero sobs amidst the ashes, weak and broken.
The Goddess whispers: “This place is vast enough. I shall protect it.”
She uses her Holy Form to pin down the Demon Hounds, the Fallen Wings, the Tentacles, and the Great Dragons. Each victory is a moment of darkness being squeezed into the abyss of the Holy Presence.
In the final movement, the poet left behind only a single, short line:
“The world was not saved by the blade, but secured by the embrace of peace.”
Future generations of bards sing the Goddess’s poem:
The church is shattered, the coloured glass scattered.
Yet, only her Holy Presence stands steadfast amidst the ruins.
She carried neither sword nor shield, only her own form.
The stained-glass light shone, transforming her Grand Figure into a holy icon.
The faithful look up, their eyes brimming with tears.
The Goddess’s Might is the Faith.
Author’s Note
In a single sentence: The Goddess defeats the Demon King BOSS solely with her Divine Might.
Just treat this as a novel written in the style of a fighting game. It’s one of the trivial things I’ve always wanted to write in life. This has been updated for several months on my blog, I am just synchronizing it here. The Hero is a cute, handsome boy, but he’s just there to be adorable on the sidelines.
It’s not crucial whether the characters have names, as there are only two people: The Goddess and The Hero. The true protagonist is the Goddess. The Hero is merely a grunt doing odd jobs.
The inspiration came from an old fighting game I used to play, where you clear one stage and then immediately move on to the next.
