- Chapter 20 - Then I'll Go
Mu Shenshen and Feng Xing Jue were paired with another couple—a gentle, understated female Alpha and a sunny, energetic Omega. The two civilian guests drew lots for a guitar, speakers, a drawing board, and white doves.
When the results were revealed, the soft-spoken female Alpha from the other pair found she had drawn the drawing board. She gently said to her One-Day Couple, “That’s alright, I’m decent at drawing. I can sketch you later.”
Hearing this, Mu Shenshen glanced thoughtfully at the female Alpha. Maybe being paired with someone like her would provoke her little Alpha more—after all, her little Alpha seemed somewhat similar in temperament to this one…?
Before she could finish the thought, Feng Xing Jue sidled up to Mu Shenshen, deliberately or not blocking her view. He flashed the card in his hand with a smile and said, “We got the guitar and speakers—pretty lucky. I know a bit of fingerstyle, so I can play for you later.”
“Oh,” Mu Shenshen glanced at the card. “So you’re definitely going to win, right?”
Feng Xing Jue grinned confidently. “Do you really want to win?”
Without waiting for her answer, he continued, “Don’t worry, I’ll definitely make sure we win.”
LMAO, Sister Mu has zero romantic interest, only a competitive drive.
Mu Shenshen: Male Alpha, win for me, no nonsense.
The eight participants split into two groups and were led to different locations by the production team. Mu Shenshen and the other group, with the understated female Alpha, were assigned to the same shaded beach area. The staff had already set up the speakers, guitar, and drawing board on the sand, while the other group’s doves were placed in a cage under the shade near the drawing board.
Following the staff to their designated spot, Mu Shenshen sighed faintly at the sight of the circle of vibrant roses surrounding the area.
Feng Xing Jue, however, seemed quite pleased with the arrangement. Smiling, he turned to invite Mu Shenshen to sit inside the rose circle. Mu Shenshen, bored, walked over to a beach chair under the shade and sat down, crossing her long legs elegantly. She leaned slightly against the armrest, gazing at the undulating sea.
Feng Xing Jue’s eyes flickered over Mu Shenshen’s thighs, first with a flash of admiration before he pretended to casually tune the guitar strings. “Do all Omegas like dressing like this?”
“Hm?” Mu Shenshen spared him half a glance, distracted.
Feng Xing Jue gestured vaguely toward her legs before turning his attention back to the guitar strings with feigned seriousness. “It’s not very appropriate, is it? You’re an Omega, and the beach is full of people watching. It’d be safer to dress more modestly.”
Who’s watching? You’re the first one staring, hypocrite.
Ugh, so patronizing… disgusting.
Is he talking this much on a date? Acting like they’re married already.
LMAO, Sister Mu clearly can’t be bothered, and this Alpha’s lecturing her?
Mu Shenshen glanced at the guitar in Feng Xing Jue’s hands and replied flatly, “Someone as beautiful as me would still be admired even in a burlap sack. The fact that I choose to dress like this is a privilege for everyone who sees me—they should be grateful.”
Then she stared directly at Feng Xing Jue.
LMAO, dumbass Alpha, what are you waiting for? Say thank you—can’t you tell Sister Mu is calling you out?
“So arrogant… but I actually think she’s right.”
“True, Sister Mu is right. I better take a few more screenshots while I can.”
Feng Xing Jue was left momentarily speechless by the retort. “But like this… won’t your future Alpha mind?”
“Then let’s wait until he actually has a chance to marry me first,” Mu Shenshen said idly, glancing at her nails. “Don’t forget what you said about winning—be a useful Alpha, okay?”
LMAOOOO our sister Mu just reverse-PUA’d him
Damn, just damn. I’ve genuinely learned something today.
I’m wheezing, I’m dying. When’s the clip coming out? Can someone edit this part separately?
Feng Xing Jue’s expression twisted in a mix of emotions, but since he prided himself on being gentlemanly, he couldn’t do much in front of the cameras. Annoyed, he adjusted his guitar strings instead.
In contrast, the other team’s atmosphere was much more harmonious. The female Alpha had already started sketching the lively little Omega, drawing in a few passersby.
Feng Xing Jue shot a disdainful glance their way before tuning his microphone and strumming his guitar with a bold flourish.
Sound naturally grabs attention more easily than static visuals. Standing before the mic, Feng Xing Jue’s fingers danced across the strings, sending rhythmic notes pulsing through the speakers. Soon, a small crowd gathered. Some Omegas passing by, seeing a decent-looking Alpha playing guitar, dropped their votes into the transparent box in front of Feng Xing Jue and Mu Shenshen.
Noticing the growing pile of votes, Feng Xing Jue shot Mu Shenshen a smug look—only to find her completely ignoring him, her gaze fixed intently on the female Alpha sketching in the distance.
Distracted by irritation, Feng Xing Jue fumbled a note.
Mu Shenshen blinked, finally turning to glance at him.
…The melody erred, and Mu turned to look.
HAHAHAHA I can’t with you, that’s too much
Feng Xing Jue had chosen a fast-paced song to show off his skills, so any missed notes stood out starkly, turning the piece into a bumpy, disjointed mess. Not only did Mu Shenshen and the live audience notice, but even the onlookers frowned slightly.
Under the weight of multiple judging stares, Feng Xing Jue’s face flushed red, his rhythm growing increasingly erratic.
A kind-hearted Omega tried to encourage him, cupping their hands around their mouth to call out, “Hey, don’t stress! You sound great!”
But Feng Xing Jue took it as mockery, shooting the Omega a cold glare before abruptly ending the song and switching to another, playing it with forced cheer.
However, it seemed Feng Xing Jue hadn’t touched his guitar in a while—his repertoire was limited, and even the next few songs came out choppy.
The initial crowd, put off by his ungrateful reaction, drifted away, while newcomers, unimpressed by the inconsistent performance, turned toward the female Alpha’s group instead.
Coincidentally, the female Alpha and her Omega teammate, thinking victory was hopeless, decided to have some fun—releasing all the white doves from their cage.
The moment the white doves were released, accompanied by the wind and flowers, all passersby couldn’t help but gasp in admiration and began moving toward the female Alpha. Even Mu Shenshen unconsciously uncrossed her legs, her gaze following one particular dove.
As she watched, a sudden “thud” sounded beside Mu Shenshen’s ears, and the guitar music abruptly stopped.
Frowning, Mu Shenshen turned to look and found Feng Xing Jue glaring at her, having slammed his guitar onto the ground.
Mu Shenshen: “?”
Unable to comprehend what this Alpha was thinking, Mu Shenshen gave Feng Xing Jue a once-over with a hint of disdain.
Feng Xing Jue: “If none of you want to listen, why should I keep playing?”
Mu Shenshen: “…”
Huh?
Seeing Mu Shenshen frown without responding, Feng Xing Jue’s embarrassment and anger flared. In a fit of resentment, he turned and kicked the guitar, muttering, “Piece of junk.”
Mu Shenshen was startled, staring at him in disbelief.
Feng Xing Jue regained a shred of Alpha confidence from that kick, puffing out his chest and striding off without so much as a glance at Mu Shenshen.
???
Seriously, dude? Blaming the guitar for your lack of skill?
Wow, what terrible character. People were cheering for him, and he just storms off like that.
Unbelievable.
The rose circle was now empty except for Mu Shenshen, a guitar, a speaker, and a lonely microphone—an oddly desolate scene. Mu Shenshen narrowed her eyes, sneered, and crossed her arms without another word.
With the live broadcast at a standstill, the production team was in a bind. An assistant director tentatively suggested, “Ms. Mu, if your One-Day Couple is upset, maybe you could try comforting him?”
Mu Shenshen glanced coldly at the assistant director and replied, “Who does he think he is, to deserve my comfort?”
Damn! That was satisfying!!
Way to go, Sister Mu! Put the director in their place!
I can’t believe this. Who suggested an Omega should comfort him? That Alpha threw a tantrum for no reason—let him sulk!
…Harsh but fair.
The assistant director choked, hesitating under Mu Shenshen’s icy stare.
He didn’t want to provoke her either, but the show had to go on.
In the studio, Ji Liao—who had been silently watching the screen with a deepening frown—snapped his script shut on the side table. Adjusting his headset connected to the director, he said calmly, “I’ll go.”
Zhu Linchen: “?”
San Yang: “?”
This wasn’t in the script. ▓
Cheng Mi suddenly looked up, disbelief flashing in his eyes, his expression as fragile as a discarded doll.
Even the head director was stunned, glancing at Ji Liao in surprise.
Qin Ming was the first to speak up. “You sure you can handle it?”
Ji Liao responded mildly, making no promises. “I can try.”
The head director looked at Mu Shenshen’s stiff posture by the shore, then at the barrage of shocked yet curious comments. Closing his eyes in resignation, he thought: Chaos it is. Can’t leave our sponsor hanging. Fortune favors the bold—let’s take the risk!
“Alright, then we’ll leave it to you, Ji Liao.”
