The Gorgeous Omega Came to Seduce Me [Entertainment Industry] - Chapter 8
After saying goodbye to Zhou Xingyun, Ji Liao leisurely hailed a cab and made her way to a park not far from the city center.
Zhou Xingyun was busy with work and couldn’t afford to keep Ji Liao company indefinitely. Not wanting to return and face Mu Shenshen either, Ji Liao simply wandered into a park with lush greenery.
Whenever she hit a creative block while composing music, Ji Liao would seek out places like this—far from the noise of people, closer to nature.
But the chirping of cicadas and birds couldn’t hold her attention forever. As dusk approached, Ji Liao had no choice but to head back to her rented apartment. After all, the place was under her name and given the neighborhood’s less-than-stellar security, she couldn’t risk anything happening to Mu Shenshen inside her home.
Of course, it would be best if nothing happened at all.
As she left the park and prepared to hail another cab, her gaze landed on the large sign of a supermarket across the street. A grape-shaped LED light flickered in the bottom left corner of the sign.
For some inexplicable reason, Ji Liao found herself walking in and buying a few boxes of lychees. It wasn’t until after she’d paid that she realized something was off. She turned back, picked up some grapes and cherries, and after some deliberation, added a few desserts to her haul before leaving.
By the time the taxi pulled up in front of the old apartment building, the sky had darkened.
As usual, Ji Liao spotted the group of idle young Alphas who shared the building loitering near the entrance, smoking.
In the past, Ji Liao would have ignored them. But now, their eyes were fixed on her, just as they had been when she first moved in.
“Hey,” one of the male Alphas called out, flicking his cigarette butt to the ground and crushing it carelessly under his plastic sandal. His tone was crude as he continued, “That Omega with the pretty strong pheromones—is she staying at your place? Since you haven’t marked her, how about lending her to us for some fun… Ugh, damn!”
Before he could finish, a cool, floral scent drifted through the air—ethereal and icy, like blossoms quietly blooming in the heart of a snowstorm, fragile yet defiant against the frost.
In stark contrast to its delicate fragrance, Ji Liao’s pheromones were overwhelmingly aggressive, like a ferocious beast straining against its chains. If left unchecked, they lashed out indiscriminately at every Alpha within reach.
Which was why Ji Liao always kept them tightly leashed.
The pheromone strength of these thug-like Alphas was no match for hers. Under her oppressive aura, they crumpled to the ground, clutching their glands in pain, faces flushed and veins bulging.
“I don’t like what you’re saying,” Ji Liao spoke, her tone still calms and measured. “If I hear anything like that again, or if I find out you’re still eyeing that Omega, I’ll make sure you never get to mark an Omega for the rest of your lives. Understood?”
The Alphas gritted their teeth, struggling to stay upright as they glared at her with resentment.
“Guess not.” Ji Liao sighed, turning halfway away as if bored.
The pressure of her distant, floral scent intensified, showing no mercy. Ji Liao didn’t even spare them a glance, instead tilting her head back to count the windows on the building, completely indifferent to the groans and whimpers of the Alphas whose weaker glands were being crushed under her pheromones. Until an Alpha couldn’t take it anymore and begged for mercy: “I get it! I fucking get it, I won’t lay a hand on that Omega anymore, alright?!”
Ji Liao gave the Alpha a cold glance. “You’d better mean what you say.”
After speaking, Ji Liao felt the threat lacked weight, so she added, “Pheromone clashes between Alphas are notoriously hard to prove. Even if your gland gets permanently damaged, no one could hold me accountable.”
The young Alpha was still sitting on the ground, clutching his gland, his face twisting in terror as he scrambled backward.
But Ji Liao couldn’t be bothered to look at him any longer and soon averted her gaze.
She wasn’t experienced in making threats. Having said her piece, she glanced up again. Seeing the fifth-floor window remained quiet, she gradually reined in her dominant pheromones.
Without another look at the Alphas sprawled on the ground, Ji Liao stepped unhurriedly toward the building entrance.
“Fvck…” The Alpha who’d spoken to her finally exhaled in relief, cursing under his breath as he stared at where Ji Liao had disappeared, his eyes filled with fear and resentment.
“What a psycho!”
Carrying a bag of fruit, Ji Liao climbed the stairs steadily until she reached the apartment door.
As she fished out her keys, she hesitated for a moment before inserting them into the lock. She’d released her pheromones downstairs earlier—had Mu Shenshen noticed?
Mu Shenshen was absurdly sensitive to her pheromones. She hoped it wouldn’t cause trouble again.
With a sigh, Ji Liao turned the key and opened the door.
The room smelled fresh, likely from some scented product—reminiscent of Ji Liao’s pheromones but not quite the same.
Something inside Ji Liao twitched at the thought.
“You’re back.” The beautiful, delicate Omega had her arms folded over the back of the sofa, her chin resting on them, looking for all the world like a pampered, oversized cat.
Ji Liao’s gaze skimmed over Mu Shenshen’s fair arms before she closed the door behind her. “Mn.”
Mu Shenshen’s eyes flicked to the bag in Ji Liao’s hand, curiosity piqued. “What’d you bring?”
“Some fruit,” Ji Liao replied.
“Oh…” Mu Shenshen’s interest waned, and she slumped back into her arms, though her eyes never left Ji Liao.
“What?” Ji Liao set the fruit down, feeling the persistent gaze on her, and finally turned to ask.
Mu Shenshen was perched sideways on the sofa, leaning against the backrest as she watched Ji Liao. The flimsy camisole and shorts she wore did little to cover anything, only amplifying the allure of her figure.
“Where did you go today?” Mu Shenshen ignored the question, staring straight at Ji Liao before countering with one of her own.
She wasn’t doing anything deliberate—just sitting there, toying with her hair while watching Ji Liao—yet an effortless sensuality radiated from her.
Ji Liao averted her eyes as if selectively blind. “Met a friend.”
“A friend?” Mu Shenshen frowned, straightening up warily. “A girlfriend?”
Why would she assume that? Ji Liao gave her a strange look. “No.”
Zhou Xingyun certainly wasn’t her girlfriend—she’d never been involved with anyone like that.
“Oh…” Mu Shenshen seemed to relax slightly.
Too lazy to figure out what that Omega was thinking, Ji Liao quietly lowered her eyes and methodically began organizing the fruits and desserts in the bag.
“Hey.” Mu Shenshen had somehow sidled over at some point, cautiously poking Ji Liao’s arm.
Ji Liao paused her movements, tilting her head slightly to glance at Mu Shenshen from the corner of her eye. She saw Mu Shenshen hesitantly extend an invitation: “Want to watch a movie together?”
She seemed oddly guilty about it.
“…Now?” After a moment’s silence, Ji Liao checked her watch.
She wasn’t particularly interested in watching a movie. But as long as it didn’t cross any boundaries, Ji Liao was accustomed to not making things awkward for others. For something as trivial as this, she could humor Mu Shenshen.
The silver-toned watch with its minimalist design showed the hour hand already pointing at 8.
“It’s getting late.”
“Huh? You’re agreeing?” Mu Shenshen sounded surprised, having apparently missed Ji Liao’s actual words.
“If you really want to watch, how about tomorrow?” Ji Liao didn’t answer directly. “It’s too late today.”
“So you’re willing to watch a movie with me.” Mu Shenshen tilted her head, moving into Ji Liao’s line of sight.
Ji Liao’s hand stilled among the fruits, her fingers brushing past the box of lychees as she subtly changed targets. “Sure, if you want to.”
It wasn’t like it mattered much anyway.
“Then I want to watch now.” Mu Shenshen’s tone was light.
“What?” Ji Liao blinked.
“I never said we had to go out to watch.” Mu Shenshen grinned, spreading her hands as she walked toward the living room TV.
Following Mu Shenshen’s movement, Ji Liao noticed the television she’d never turned on before. A faint smile touched her lips as she lowered her eyes.
So it was just to pass the time. That was fine then.
Mu Shenshen reached the sofa and began browsing movies with the remote.
She stood behind the couch, leaning lazily against its back, her long hair cascading down. Her slender, pale legs were unabashedly exposed to the air as she watched the TV with sparkling eyes and a slight smile playing on her lips.
A vibrant, summer-like vitality radiated from her delicate figure.
Ji Liao found herself looking at Mu Shenshen for a moment longer. She had to admit that even if Mu Shenshen wasn’t her usual type, she didn’t dislike her.
This Omega was actually quite cute when she wasn’t troublesome.
As Ji Liao put the fruits and desserts in the refrigerator, she heard Mu Shenshen call from the living room: “Could you bring two glasses of juice? Thank you~”
With thanks already given, was there really room for refusal? Ji Liao chuckled softly, taking two glasses from the cabinet to rinse before pouring the juice.
“Got any ice?” Mu Shenshen had already picked a movie, sitting on the sofa with her long legs crossed, watching Ji Liao approach with focused attention.
“It’s late. Better not drink anything cold.” Ji Liao set the juice down steadily in front of Mu Shenshen.
“You’re so health-conscious…” Mu Shenshen muttered under her breath. “Aren’t you still college-aged?”
“What was that?” Ji Liao suddenly turned.
“Ah, nothing,” Mu Shenshen’s eyes darted away as she pointed at the TV. “Is this movie okay with you?”
Ji Liao’s gaze darkened slightly as she looked at Mu Shenshen.
This Omega probably didn’t realize how much her eyes betrayed her thoughts—the attempt at concealment was far too obvious. Besides, Ji Liao had complete confidence in her hearing; there was no way she could have misheard.
Had this Omega investigated her?
Showing up at her doorstep so suddenly—it couldn’t have been a coincidence, could it?
Then again… maybe Mu Shenshen had figured it out just by looking at her? Or perhaps she had already searched for Ji Liao online.
The thought of the discourse on the internet made Ji Liao uncharacteristically weary. Unwilling to dwell on it, she simply followed Mu Shenshen’s lead and changed the subject. On the TV screen was what looked like an artsy film. It might be boring, but at least it wouldn’t be frightening—safe enough.
So Ji Liao nodded. “Sure.”
“Great,” Mu Shenshen said, smiling as she pressed to play. “Don’t you think turning off the lights would make the mood better?”
Ji Liao: “…Aren’t you afraid of the dark?”
At that, Mu Shenshen widened her eyes in surprise. “You weren’t planning to sit next to me? We’re watching a movie together—why would you stay so far away?”
Ji Liao frowned but before she could say anything, Mu Shenshen curled into a small, pitiful ball on her own, hugging her knees. “Do you still think I’m trying to seduce you? Fine, I got it. Someone with a past record like mine is bound to be suspicious. Even if I’m just trying to be nice, I’ll still end up being disliked like this…”
“Alright, alright, I get it.”
Ji Liao couldn’t bear to listen any longer—Mu Shenshen hadn’t even gotten to the main point yet.
Even knowing Mu Shenshen might be exaggerating her misery, Ji Liao couldn’t just ignore her pitiful whining. It was like seeing a soaked kitten mewling helplessly on the roadside—how could anyone stay indifferent?
Ji Liao got up and turned off the lights, then, as Mu Shenshen had suggested, picked up her juice and sat down beside her.
…It was just sitting side by side. What was the big deal? In the dim glow of the screen, Ji Liao discreetly pinched the bridge of her nose, comforting herself with that thought.
