The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 10.3
Mergin’s self-prepared dish was stolen by the chief.
“Oh, you’re eating the one everyone was looking forward to.”
“Because you made such a big deal out of it. Oh, it’s gooey and delicious. What on earth is this?”
“Poison fish milt.”
Buuurp!
The chief spat out the fugu milt he had in his mouth.
“What are you doing, wasting it like that?”
“You’re the one who ate it without asking. This is considered a delicacy, you know.”
“You idiot! Who feeds someone poison fish milt?”
Mergin was about to launch a magical attack on the chief, who ate it without permission.
“Those two are noisy, aren’t they?”
“They must get along well. Not many can drink with Dad without worrying.”
“He drinks with anyone. New hunters, old juniors. Also, isn’t it unusual for Mom to call Dad by his name?”
“Hehe, yeah. It reminds me of old times. Maybe I should join in. Rikka, go to bed already.”
“Aww, no fair!”
“If you don’t sleep well, you won’t grow big.”
The landlady puffed her chest.
“Annoying…”
Rikka went to bed angrily, and afterward, the landlady’s voice scolded Mergin for what he fed them.
—Next day—
“Is this the capital? It’s really a big city.”
“Of course, compared to other territories.”
Arriving at the capital with Rocca.
“Star’s Guidance, thank you so much for bringing us to the capital after helping us in such a dangerous place.”
“Are you really okay?”
Vanessa worried.
“Yes, I’ll manage once I’m in the capital. How can I meet you all again?”
“Just leave a message with the Hunter’s Guild. And be careful around men.”
“Got it. Thank you very much.”
Separated from Rocca, Iris headed towards the center of the capital, while Rocca headed for the Hunter’s Guild.
“Hey, Rocca. Welcome back. How was the investigation?”
“Well, we didn’t see it ourselves, but apparently wolves appeared near Lionel’s town.”
“On the highway?”
“Yeah. Someone camping along the highway was attacked by wolves.”
“At night, on the highway?”
“Seems there were about five in the pack.”
“A small pack… They were likely chased here by something.”
“Probably. But we didn’t see any demons, and we went two towns over asking around, but nothing abnormal.”
“I see. Good work.”
After receiving their reward, Rocca asked about a man with black hair.
“Do you know anyone in the capital who can use storage magic? He’s supposed to have black hair and eyes.”
“What? A storage magic user? If it’s a magic bag, that’s one thing, but there’s no one like that around here.”
“Yeah…”
“But black hair… Do you have any idea?”
“Yeah, there’s a magic bookshop in the slums, and I think the owner there has black hair.”
“Is it near the gate in the slums?”
“Exactly. It’s next to the red-light district.”
A magic bookshop… I didn’t know they sold expensive magic books in a place like that.
“Thanks.”
“Hey, aren’t you taking the next job?”
“After resting for a couple of days.”
“Got it.”
Rocca decided to visit Mergin’s magic bookshop.
