The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 11.1
Mergin was making a large amount of soup at the leisurely magic bookshop.
“Alright, that should do.”
He divided the finished soup into single servings and removed the moisture. It was like making freeze-dried food with magic, instant food that returns to the original soup when hot water is added. Next time, he needed to make instant ramen.
He remembered trying various things with Misty during the Hero Party days. They often ate instant ramen, so they were out of stock.
“Oh, you’re finally back.”
A beautiful hunter-like person who seemed to have come before entered with such a voice.
“Are you the beautiful lady who was looking for me? Did you ask about me at Rikka’s diner?”
“Hehe, it’s embarrassing to be called beautiful. I did visit Rikka’s diner twice.”
“Ah, then it must be you. Rikka said you were beautiful.”
He blushed and laughed. Though today’s attire was long, she was wearing a skirt properly.
“Yeah, this outfit suits you well.”
“I’m not very fond of skirts because they’re unreliable, but if you compliment me like that, I might like it occasionally.”
Beauty with a skirt…
“It’s not very sexy because it’s long, but if you buy it, I’ll give you an extra. If it’s a miniskirt, I’ll give you even more.”
Being called a miniskirt made her face turn bright red, seeming quite innocent.
“So, shopkeeper, I’d like to request appraisal magic and water-making magic.”
“Understood. Since you showed me your skirt, I’ll appraise it for free.”
“Just this much and you’re making the 100,000 G appraisal fee free? Then, if it’s a miniskirt…”
She muttered, blushing.
“Which water magic will you choose?”
“What do you mean by ‘which’? Are there different types?”
“Yeah. Just making water is basic, but for 1 million G, you can add options: temperature control, ability to produce ice, or ability to make carbonated water each cost 1 million G. If you get them all as a set, it’s discounted to 3 million G. The recommended option is temperature control.”
“Are there really that many types? Well, my budget was 1 million G…”
She pondered deeply.
“Well, temperature control also relates to fire magic compatibility, so why don’t we appraise it first and decide later? You can add it later if you want.”
“It doesn’t have to be simultaneous?”
“Normally, the magic circle itself is different, so it should be simultaneous, but if you want to add it later instead of the bonus, I’ll rewrite it.”
“Well, it’s expensive, but it’s fair.”
“Whether it’s fair or not depends on the customer.”
They chuckled together.
“Alright, let’s appraise it first. Place your hand on this gem.”
Mergin took out something like a crystal ball. Actually, it was a glass ball, but its transparency made it more expensive than crystal in this era. Normally, appraisal is done with magic, so the ball isn’t necessary, but it’s presented as a magical tool to avoid revealing the rare appraisal magic.
“Do I just touch this?”
“Yeah, extend your hand.”
Mergin grasped the extended hand and placed it on the ball. Despite being a woman, her hands were rough like those of a swordfish. It didn’t feel pleasant to hold hands, but they were hands that had clearly put in a lot of effort.
“So, how much do you want to see? Normally, I only check magic power and magic affinity…”
“I’ll leave it to you.”
