The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 13.1
After parting with Rose, he headed to Rikka’s restaurant at 8 PM.
“Three clean places are ready. Please sit over there,” Rikka curtly said to Mergin as he arrived.
“What’s up?”
“No big deal. Please sit over there.”
What’s with this Rikka person?
Muttering discontentedly, Mergin headed to the table where Star’s Guidance awaited.
“Oh, you came properly.”
“If we didn’t, you’d follow us around, right?”
“Hahaha, exactly. Let’s save the details for later and start with drinks. Rikka-chan, bring the best food and wine.”
“Huh? Do you know Rikka?”
“If you’re a hunter, everyone knows this place. We used to come here a lot when we were just starting out.”
Certainly, both the owner and the landlady here are former hunters, so a lot of the clientele seems hunter-ish.
“Mergin, were you acquainted with Rikka and the others?”
The landlady, who brought some appetizers in the meantime, was surprised to learn Mergin knew someone.
“Nope.”
“Hahaha, Millie-san. We forced them to come. We’re just getting to know each other.”
“Oh, Mergin, what’s someone like you doing here?”
That was a harsh thing to say to Mergin.
“Here’s your drink.”
Bang
Rikka carelessly placed the most expensive wine in front of Rikka.
“Rikka-chan, what’s wrong? You seem quite grumpy. Are you mad because it’s been a while since we’ve been here?”
“I’m not mad at all.”
Thud
Next, with a splash, she set a cup of cheap wine in front of Mergin.
“Hey, hey, I didn’t ask for cheap wine.”
“This is enough for him. He’s broke.”
“No, we’ll pay…”
“I’m fine with this. You guys can drink from that bottle.”
“But…”
“Don’t worry about it. I like this one.”
“I-I see. Well, let’s drink this then.”
After Cisco poured for the two of them, Rikka poured high-class wine for Cisco.
“Well then, cheers to our meeting.”
Rikka led the toast, and the three of them toasted, but Mergin didn’t participate, just swirled his finger on top of his cup and put it to his lips without expression.
“I’d be grateful if you wouldn’t be so on guard…”
As Mergin, without participating in the toast, put his lips to the cheap wine with a blank expression, Rikka and the others exchanged looks.
“Hey, did you do something to the glass earlier?”
Vanessa was curious about Mergin’s actions.
“Not really. This is how we give thanks for our daily bread in the country where I was born.”
“Where’s that?”
“It’s a distant island country.”
“How did you come to this country?”
“Hey, what’s it to you? You’ve never been to a foreign country before, so you’re curious, right?”
