The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 23.2
The day after the near fire, Mergin and the others went outside the capital to train Iris.
“It’s so cold!”
Iris huddled and shivered.
As Iris said, it was indeed cold. It was winter, which was expected, but it was colder than last year or the year before.
“So, the capital gets this cold, huh?”
Iris’s ears and nose were bright red.
“Yeah, this winter is much colder than last year. Wasn’t it cold where you lived?”
“It gets cold, but not enough to make me shiver with this outfit.”
The clothes Iris had bought recently included winter coats, so the clothes weren’t the issue. The temperature was indeed quite low. There might be a severe cold wave after the New Year.
“Your magic control was poor, so we have to train outside. Endure it.”
“Are you okay, Mergin-san?”
“Yeah, it’s cold.”
“That’s a lie. You don’t look cold at all.”
“Really?”
Mergin pretended not to notice. He was actually wearing a thermal vest underneath. If someone made a vest for Iris, the heating part could be easily made, but unfortunately, he didn’t know anyone good at sewing. If he asked a tailor, they might ask, “What is this?” and he’d be troubled.
“If you don’t like the cold, get your control skills up quickly.”
“Understood. I’ll do my best. Let’s hurry, I feel like I might die from the cold.”
Just as they were about to run,
“Mergin!”
He was stopped by someone.
“Oh, Rose.”
“Looks like you were about to leave. Sorry.”
“No, it’s fine. What’s up?”
“Wh-Who is that?”
Iris was surprised that a tall, beautiful adult was calling Mergin.
“This is Rose. She’s a customer.”
“Oh, a customer. Nice to meet you, I’m Iris, Mergin’s wife.”
Thud
“What are you saying? That sounds bad!”
Iris received a rather serious knuckle tap. She didn’t expect to be scolded so much for a small joke.
“And this is my apprentice, Iris.”
“Apprentice?”
Rose looked puzzled.
“No, I’m a temporary guardian. Well, don’t worry about it.”
“U-Umm, I don’t quite understand, but I’m Rose. Nice to meet you.”
Rose extended her hand for a handshake.
“Oh, yes. Nice to meet you.”
Iris took her hand and turned red.
“So, what’s up?”
“I’m glad we met before heading out. About the library we promised to visit…”
“Was it not possible?”
