The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 3.1
“You haven’t been to the brothel lately, huh?”
Rikka placed snacks and cheap sake in front of Mergin, saying so.
“Well, I’m broke.”
“If you spend every day at the brothel without working, no amount of money will ever be enough.”
“Yeah, you’re right.”
Mergin replied solemnly.
“Hey, what’s with that sad face? If you look so down, go earn some money and go again.”
“Rikka, you shouldn’t tell young girls to go to the brothel.”
The landlady knew why Mergin visited the brothel almost daily. She had known the skilled madam there for a long time. However, she hadn’t told Rikka the reason, as she had been sworn to secrecy by the madam.
“Landlady, I won’t be able to come here for a while starting tomorrow.”
“Are you going somewhere?”
“I’m going to the fishing port to get some fish.”
“It’s that time already. It was hot just the other day.”
“Time flies when you’re getting older.”
Smack!
Mergin received a punch from the landlady for saying unnecessary things.
“So, are you going to get poisonous fish again?”
“Yeah, it’s about time they’re good.”
“You eat that poisonous fish, and who knows if you’ll die.”
“Don’t worry, don’t worry. The poison’s only in the organs, not the meat.”
“But lots of people have died from eating that fish.”
“If you butcher it clumsily, sure. But I’ve got a spell for that, so I won’t mess up.”
“Still, be careful.”
“I know.”
“Hey, Mergin, can you delay your trip to the fishing port by a day or two?”
The general came out from the back.
“Well, I don’t have any plans with anyone.”
“Then come with me tomorrow for the procurement.”
“What, your ‘procurement’ means hunting, right? Sometimes get supplies from a butcher.”
“You idiot! You can’t get these prices from a butcher.”
“Just raise the price a bit.”
“Then I’ll raise the price of your free meals.”
“Even if you raise the price, it’s still free.”
“Shut up. Meet at the gate before dawn tomorrow. Don’t oversleep. If you do…”
The general cracked his fingers.
“Yeah, yeah, don’t scare me. Your face is scary enough as it is.”
Smack!
Once again, Mergin said something unnecessary and reluctantly agreed to go hunting.
At dawn, the two gathered at the gate and ventured into the forest to find their prey.
“General, what are we targeting?”
“Boars and Orkans.”
Boars are monsters like wild boars, and Orkans are deer-like creatures.
