The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 9.1
“Th-thank you very much…”
The girl, who had received hot water from the women and drank it, was still trembling.
“Why did you set up your tent so far away? When a woman camps alone, it’s common sense to pitch near other women’s tents, isn’t it?”
“Huh?”
“Honestly, you seem clueless. First of all, it’s wrong for a woman to travel alone. If you must travel alone, don’t move at night, travel by carriage, and when pitching a tent, it’s common sense to do it near other women. It’s too late once you’ve been attacked like tonight.”
“I-I’m sorry…”
The girl realized that what the man said was common sense.
“You should stay here tonight. Those guys might do something strange again.”
“Thank you. I’m Irisflone Vol… Iris is fine.”
The girl was about to give her full name but stopped herself.
“Nice name. I’m Rocca.”
“I’m Vanessa.”
“I’m Cisco.”
“Um, what about all of you?”
“We’re hunters in a party called Star’s Guidance.”
“Hunters, huh?”
“Yeah, we belong to the Hunter’s Guild in the capital. We heard there have been monsters on the Lioner road and near villages recently, so we came to investigate. Where are you from?”
Vanessa asked Iris, lounging in a relaxed pose.
“I’m on my way from Lioner to the capital.”
“Did you see any monsters on the way?”
In response to Vanessa’s question, Iris talked about camping on the road and driving off wolves and being brought here by a stranger.
“You drove off wolves without a sword?”
“Yes, I drove them away by banging a pot.”
The three whispered to each other.
“What kind of guy was he?”
Rocca listened closely, and Iris vented her frustrations about how unpleasant Mergin was.
“So, you were paid 500G for water from an unknown source?”
“Where did you get it from?”
“He took my luggage, but I didn’t know where he took it.”
“Did he not have a backpack or bag?”
“He was empty-handed.”
“Rocca, could it be…?”
Cisco had a serious expression.
“I thought it might be a magic bag, but if he was empty-handed, it doesn’t seem likely. Could he use storage magic?”
“What’s storage magic?”
“It’s magic that can store luggage in a separate space. Where did he say he was going?”
“He said he was going back to the capital.”
“Vanessa, have you heard of anyone in the capital who can use storage magic?”
“No, I haven’t. Even if they’re employed by nobles, we wouldn’t know.”
“Iris, what did he look like? Did he seem noble?”
“No, he seemed like an ordinary person. I did find his black hair and eyes unusual, though.”
“Black hair? Foreigner?”
“Sorry, I’m not sure. I came from a distant territory, so I don’t know.”
“I see. And could you drink the water you paid 500G for?”
“Yes. My throat was dry, so I thought it was delicious. There’s still some in my flask.”
