The Great Sage Who Did not Remain in Legend - 9.2
Rikka and the others decided to recover the girl’s tent and belongings while drinking the flask’s water.
“You have quite a lot of luggage.”
“Yes, it was quite a long journey.”
And Rikka was surprised after drinking from the flask.
“Try drinking this, too.”
Vanessa and Cisco also drank from the flask.
“It’s much tastier than well water.”
“Iris, he got this water from nowhere, right?”
“Um, yes.”
“I’ll make water with magic, so drink it. It’s water that doesn’t need to be boiled…”
Rikka poured water into a glass with magic.
“I can’t drink it, but it doesn’t taste good…”
“Right? Water made with water magic usually has this kind of taste. It’s a bit dusty, or rather, it tastes like this. It’s better than nothing.”
“Is that so? But it’s amazing to be able to use magic to get water.”
“No, the man who saved you is even more amazing. Cisco, Vanessa, why don’t we look for this man when we return to the capital?”
“Oh, that’s a good idea. Won’t it be easy to find a guy with black hair?”
“Yeah.”
“Um, um… Is he really amazing?”
“Ah, I’d really like to know where you got that magic to conjure water.”
“But he’s such a mean guy! He told me to go find a watering hole in the forest at night, and if I wanted him to carry my stuff, I had to pay.”
“Hey, you complain a lot, but didn’t he help you out?”
“Well, he did help me, but he made me run all the way to this village. And as soon as we arrived, he told me to camp near people here, ensure we have water beforehand, and if I had no money, to help load the carriage to the next village. Then he went off by himself after taking 500 G from poor me for this water.”
Vanessa sighed deeply.
“Is this the money you were forced to pay?”
Vanessa jiggled the copper coins at the bottom of the water bag in her hand.
“Huh? I don’t remember putting money there…”
“That guy who took your money probably never intended to let you pay. So maybe he sneakily returned it to you?”
“Huh?”
“Well, he’s quite hateful. I’m getting more interested in him now.”
Rustling sounds.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
Vanessa rummaged through Iris’s large backpack.
“You said you only had a little jerky left for food, right?”
“Um, yes.”
“Isn’t this food?”
Vanessa pulled out something like biscuits from the bag and fluttered them.
“What’s that?”
“This is portable food. It’s expensive and delicious with dried fruit inside. One piece has enough nutrition for a day. There are five of these. With jerky and water, you can endure for about a week.”
“Huh?”
“And then…”
More rustling.
“Oh, you’ve got some good stuff here.”
Next, Vanessa took out the magic light that Mergin had given her.
“Oh, I forgot to return this.”
“Hey, isn’t this guy’s too?”
