- The Great Saint Was Called to Heaven and Became the Adopted Daughter of the Baker
- Episode 2.1 - I'm back, Great Temple (tears)
The Kourika Orthodox Kingdom spreads from the valleys between the high mountains of the mountain range towards the plains. The holy capital is divided into the eastern and western districts by the Soy River flowing through the valley, and further divided into two areas: the general district where the common people live and the noble district which includes the royal castle.
The bakery Deli Baredo is also in a commoner district close to the noble district.
The two districts are connected by a large street called the Main Street, which runs straight from the city entrance to the royal castle. From the city’s main gate in the east, it crosses the bridge over the Soy River and leads to the royal castle gate in the west.
And standing tall against the valley, overlooking the holy city, is the Grand Temple. This majestic stone structure, divided into nine temples and a large main temple, tells the tale of how wealthy the Kourika Orthodox Church is.
The goddess of the Kourika Orthodox Church is the mountain goddess. Since silver is mined in this land, the Kourika Orthodox Church reveres silver as the color of the goddess, considering it a crystal of the goddess’s power and a blessing.
Therefore, those who possess silver are considered to be under the protection of the goddess. Those who do not have silver on their bodies wear silver jewelry such as earrings and bracelets.
Looking up at the high ceiling of the hall lined with the intricate pillars of the main temple, Ali let out a quiet sigh.
The feeling that I’ve come back home is pressing down on me.
The scenery I always saw through the veil is clear, but the feelings that well up are all dark.
I’m back at the Grand Shrine. And I want to cry.
In the first place, under Rensol’s instructions, Milliardo prepared and sent the recommendation letter five days ago. Before I knew it, the notification of my appointment as a saint arrived, and here I am standing in this nostalgic place.
No, isn’t it too early?
I wouldn’t mind if you took a bit more time to review it thoroughly.
The feeling of being left behind is overwhelming.
This morning, I can’t forget Milliardo’s sour face when he came out with his luggage. Rensol’s cheerful smile is infuriating. My in-laws tearfully told me that I could come back anytime.
Ah, I want to go home right now.
“Um, excuse me… Are you perhaps the one who will be fulfilling the duties of a saint here starting today?”
I was staring blankly at the ceiling when I heard a hesitant voice from behind.
When I turned around, a girl with light blue hair tied back was standing there.
A face sprinkled with freckles is cute, but a timid demeanor gives off a sense of weakness.
Dressed in a simple one-piece dress, she tilted her head slightly while holding a small handbag. Her blue eyes, which seemed to be peering out, looked like they were about to burst into tears.
“Yes, that’s right. You too?”
“Y-yes. My name is Kaune Randa. Uh, nice to meet you.”
“Likewise. I am Ally Tambar.”
With a gentle smile, the girl, her face still bright red, squirmed and stammered, “A-a-a.”
“Would you, um, like to be friends?!”
I came here to work as a saint, not to make friends.
Ally was taken aback, but it was also true that she had never had anyone in her life whom she could call a friend.
I am convinced that it is possible to create someone you can call a friend like this.
“Yes, thank you in advance.”
“Ah, thank you so much!”
Watching the girl who was practically jumping for joy warmed my heart somehow.
“I was suddenly told that I have the goddess’s blessing and to come help, and while I was still in shock, I ended up here… I’m really, really anxious…”
“Let’s do our best together.”
“Yes… yes!”
As I was feeling warm watching the excited Cowne, someone called out to me.
“Are you the saints who will serve from today?”
When did she arrive? Looking ahead, a small, elderly woman was standing there. She was wearing the white garments of the highest-ranking court lady. With her glasses glinting, she quietly asked.
