- Episode 2.3 - My First Shared Room
The room that Linze guided me to was the one at the very front on the first floor of the building for the saints.
It seemed like a shared room, with a wardrobe and a bed at each end, a desk next to them, and a bookshelf in the middle. As soon as you enter, there is a couch and a table in the center of the room, which seems to be the only shared space for the two of them.
Since I had been using the spacious High Priestess’s room by myself until now, I’m feeling nervous about sharing a room.
It’s the first time I’ve lived in the same room with someone, sharing meals and everything.
“The wardrobe contains the saint’s garments, so change and come to the lord. Understood?”
Rinse, after saying that, quickly leaves the room.
When they were alone, Ally opened the lid of the bag.
“Enough is enough, I’ve reached my limit!”
Momo, who appeared growling, charged at Ally with a thud.
Even though Ginmoko’s body slam didn’t hurt, I stumbled involuntarily from the impact.
“Momo said it was fine here, didn’t she?”
“There are limits to things!”
“Wow, so cute!”
Seeing Momo pounding the floor in protest, Kaune’s eyes sparkled.
“Is this Ally’s cat? It’s so cute!”
“Momo, people are saying you’re cute, you know?”
“Indeed, you have an eye for things. I commend you.”
Momo’s mood improved in an instant, and she is happily wagging her tail.
It seems that the dissatisfaction from earlier has blown away somewhere.
“May I pet you?”
“If you don’t change your clothes, you’re going to get scolded.”
“That’s right! I never thought this place would be so scary. I just want to go home.”
Suddenly, as if recalling the fear, Kaune hugged his body with a pale face.
The seemingly quiet girl also appears shy. She has a personality that doesn’t stray far from her parents, but why did she become a saint?
“Why did Kaune become a saint?”
“My acquaintance is a temple official, and they were short on staff, so I reluctantly came. Even though I’m called a blessed saint, I can’t do much. At most, my wounds heal faster. So, I kept quiet all this time, but I was persuaded that it’s better than nothing…”
“Since the period is one year, we can go home after spending a year.”
“Yes, that was mentioned the first time. They said that a new Saintess would probably be decided within a year, so the work would become easier. But from what Lady Linze said, it seems that the Saintess and the other Holy Maidens don’t have much involvement. So, whether the Saintess is there or not, the content of the work doesn’t change, right? It seems different too. I have no confidence that I can do this well.”
Indeed, I too found myself wishing to return to the bakery completely.
It seems that being a saint is more demanding than being a great saint.
Not knowing means that there is that little involvement.
“Anyway, let’s change and go. If we keep dawdling, we might get scolded just for that, right?”
Kaune also agreed, half in tears.
As I opened the wardrobe as instructed, there was a saint’s outfit inside.
A gray robe was folded with a veil of the same color. First, the robe was worn, then a headscarf called a wimple was wrapped around the head and tied with a string, and finally, the veil was put on.
The Great Saints had become so accustomed to the outfit that even though it turned silver, her movements remained the same.
Kaune’s eyes widened at the familiar task.
“Was Ally originally a saint?”
“No, no, I was an orphan raised in the temple. I only learned a few things from the saints who came for volunteer work.”
“Is that so?”
“Kaune’s words are extremely polite. It’s hard to believe she is a saint from a commoner background.”
“I was thoroughly taught the language here by the person who recommended me. I was warned that if I didn’t, I would face even more harassment. Just hearing that made me not want to come. The language spoken at home is completely different.”
While helping Kaune change, the temple official who brought Kaune suspected that they held a higher position within the temple.
Ordinary priests rarely have the opportunity to see the saints. They would never show themselves bullying their fellow saints in public.
“Well then, shall we go?”
Waiting for Kaune to finish changing, Ally headed out of the room.
