The Green Tea Supporting Girl Is Still Playing Her Role Today (GL) - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
“Slow down. Can you still walk straight?”
“I can!”
“Then show me.”
Xie Zhifei let go of Wen Pinghan’s hand and walked forward, weaving in a serpentine pattern. She turned back, proudly putting her hands on her hips. “Tell me, am I straight or what?”
“Hmph.” Wen Pinghan stepped forward, grabbed her, and supported her as they walked into the courtyard. “Don’t be stubborn. Drunk is drunk.”
“Ugh… fine, I’ll listen to you…” Xie Zhifei mumbled.
“Password,” Wen Pinghan said, pointing at the door lock.
“Three, five, six—” Xie Zhifei’s head rested on her shoulder as she slowly recited.
“Fingerprint works.” Wen Pinghan quickly cut her off, grabbed her dangling right hand, pressed her index finger to the lock, and the door opened.
“Where’s Auntie?” Wen Pinghan suddenly noticed that every time she came over in the evening, Auntie was nowhere to be seen.
“She’s off work. Not used to having Auntie… live here,” Xie Zhifei replied.
She was still somewhat lucid, but her body struggled to stay coherent. Her steps were unsteady, her speech and blinking slowed, and she occasionally spouted nonsense, but she could still communicate, barely.
“If Auntie’s not here, in your condition…” Wen Pinghan laid her on the couch, asking with concern, “Are you okay on your own?”
“Not okay.” Xie Zhifei shook her head.
“Should I call Auntie to come back for overtime?”
“No.” Xie Zhifei turned away, seeming aggrieved. “Auntie has a grandson to take care of at night… You go too. No one wants to look after me, just a drunk who might go crazy any moment, boo~”
“At a time like this, you can still pinpoint your own state so accurately? Impressive,” Wen Pinghan said, half-laughing, half-exasperated. She sat beside her and turned her to face her. “Alright, stop acting pitiful. I’ll take care of you, okay?”
“Yay, Sister is the bestest best best best!” Xie Zhifei reached out, hugged her waist, nuzzled her head against her, and comfortably closed her eyes to sleep.
After a while, Wen Pinghan carefully pried her hands off. As she stood, Xie Zhifei’s eyes snapped open, slightly red—whether from alcohol or near tears, it was unclear.
“Sister, are you leaving? Are you abandoning me too?” Xie Zhifei asked pitifully.
“No, I’m just getting water. I’m thirsty. Want some?” Wen Pinghan asked.
Xie Zhifei processed this for a long moment, confirming she wasn’t leaving, then nodded. “Yes.”
Wen Pinghan drank her water, then brought a glass to Xie Zhifei. She propped herself up weakly, sipped half the glass, and flopped back, raising a hand to block the glaring light.
“Don’t sleep here. Let’s get you to your room,” Wen Pinghan said, patting her hand, then half-supporting, half-carrying her to the bedroom.
The bedroom had an en-suite bathroom. It was Wen Pinghan’s first time inside. Looking at the towels on the rack, she asked, “Which one’s for your face?”
“Pink… pink one,” Xie Zhifei mumbled.
Wen Pinghan searched for a moment. “There are four pink ones.”
“Uh… the pinkest one.”
Wen Pinghan grabbed the towel, washed Xie Zhifei’s face, and took off her shoes. “That’s it for now. Wash the rest yourself tomorrow. If the bedding’s dirty, have Auntie change it.”
“Uh… where are you going?”
“Home. It’s late.”
“What for?” Xie Zhifei rolled over, patted the empty spot beside her, and muttered, “This two-meter bed isn’t just for show, you know.”
“But…”
“It’s so late. Just stay the night,” Xie Zhifei said, as if it took all her energy. She closed her eyes after speaking.
Wen Pinghan thought for a moment. It seemed like the only option, so she went to take a shower.
Luckily, they were both women, and the supplies were similar. The bathroom had unopened towels and disposable toiletries under the cabinet. After showering, she got ready for bed.
“I’m turning off the light?” Wen Pinghan stood by the bed, asking softly.
“Mmm…” Xie Zhifei mumbled hazily.
Click.
In the dark, Xie Zhifei felt the covers lift, the bed dipping slightly beside her. A faint, fresh scent filled her nose, bringing a touch of clarity. She instinctively scooted closer, only relaxing and falling asleep when she touched Wen Pinghan’s cool arm.
Wen Pinghan waited until her breathing evened out, confirming she was asleep, then carefully tried to pull her hand back. But Xie Zhifei stirred, suddenly clinging to her arm and refusing to let go.
What could Wen Pinghan do? Afraid of waking the drunk, she settled into the awkward position to sleep. Maybe it was the new environment or the person beside her, but she couldn’t fall asleep easily.
Listening to Xie Zhifei’s breathing, with half her body held by her, Wen Pinghan gradually felt her limbs warm up. She raised her hand, slowly placing it over Xie Zhifei’s, and drifted off.
The next morning, Wen Pinghan’s internal clock woke her. Sitting up, she realized the person beside her was gone. She opened the door, heard noises downstairs, and shuffled to the kitchen in slippers, only to find not Xie Zhifei but Auntie preparing breakfast.
“Miss, for breakfast today—oh!” Auntie turned, startled, then smiled. “Ms. Wen, you stayed over last night? I’ll make an extra portion.”
“Thank you,” Wen Pinghan said, looking around. “Where’s Xie Zhifei?”
“She hasn’t come down yet.”
Puzzled, Wen Pinghan returned to the second-floor bedroom. Pushing the door open, she saw Xie Zhifei changing clothes, and both jumped.
“Whoa!” Xie Zhifei’s hand trembled as she pulled up her pants. Seeing it was Wen Pinghan, she slowly continued dressing, chuckling. “Scared me. Thought it was Auntie. For a second, I forgot you were here.”
“Where’d you go just now?” Wen Pinghan walked in, deliberately avoiding her long, fair legs to prevent getting jealous again.
“I’ve been in the room. Oh, just used the bathroom,” Xie Zhifei said.
Wen Pinghan nodded, waiting for her to finish before washing up.
At breakfast, Wen Pinghan asked, “No dizziness?”
“Nope, a good sleep fixed it. Thanks for taking care of me, Sister,” Xie Zhifei said with a smile.
Her phone rang. It was Zhao Xiaojing.
“It’s the weekend. Wanna relax?” Zhao Xiaojing asked.
“Where?”
“Resort villa, infinity pool, perfect weather,” Zhao Xiaojing said.
“Hang on.” Xie Zhifei put down the phone and asked, “Sister, wanna relax at a resort villa with an infinity pool? Weather’s great.”
Wen Pinghan: “Won’t I be intruding?”
“Intruding? The more sisters, the merrier. If you don’t come, I’ll turn her down,” Xie Zhifei said.
Zhao Xiaojing roared through the phone, “Xie Zhifei! Who’s your real bestie?! Fine, bring that little vixen. Today, I’ll settle things with her! She’s stealing my woman—she’s in for it!”
Little vixen: “…?”
With a challenge issued, Wen Pinghan nodded in agreement.
After breakfast, they packed to head out, but Wen Pinghan hadn’t brought a swimsuit. On the way, they stopped at a swimwear shop.
When Wen Pinghan picked a racing swimsuit and went to pay, Xie Zhifei said cryptically, “Sister, you’re gonna lose.”
“You don’t think she’s challenging me to a swim race?”
“What else?”
“Of course not. That little cabbage couldn’t beat anyone.” Xie Zhifei casually picked up a hanger with a sexy bikini. “She’s competing with this.”
Wen Pinghan still chose the racing suit. When they arrived at the hotel, Zhao Xiaojing was already there. She gave Wen Pinghan a provocative glance, then linked arms with Xie Zhifei to assert her status as the primary sister.
“Finally, a few days without Li Feng bugging me. I dared to come out today,” Zhao Xiaojing said.
“Did he contact you again?”
“Yeah, I was fuming. He said he could change other things, but not stuff that happens in his sleep. Gotta say, I found him kinda cute then,” Zhao Xiaojing said, laughing.
After checking in, the three went to the top-floor suite with four or five rooms. Wen Pinghan hadn’t had time to admire the view before Zhao Xiaojing rushed her to the pool.
Xie Zhifei and Zhao Xiaojing changed into their swimsuits and soaked in the pool. Soon, Wen Pinghan emerged from the changing room.
Zhao Xiaojing, leaning against the poolside, saw her one-piece swimsuit and felt a bit like she was cheating. “Wait, she’s actually here to swim?”
“What else?” Xie Zhifei laughed, waving Wen Pinghan over.
Wen Pinghan swam over, stood up from the water, and glanced at their figures, momentarily dazzled. She instinctively looked down at her own flat chest, guiltily averting her gaze.
“Alright, since you came prepared, let’s race. One lap, first back here wins,” Zhao Xiaojing said.
“Okay.”
With Xie Zhifei as the makeshift referee, she gave the signal, and they shot off.
Wen Pinghan reached the other side first, kicked off the wall, and swam a few meters before hearing a shout behind her. “Help! My foot’s cramping!”
She quickly stopped, turned back, and saw Zhao Xiaojing flailing in the water. She rushed back, pulling her to the edge. “You okay? Feeling better?”
“No, it’s still cramping, ouch—” Zhao Xiaojing sat on the ground, clutching her leg, her toes still seizing, her face pale.
A cool hand grasped her foot, pressing some pressure point, and the cramp quickly eased.
“How’s it now? Better?” Wen Pinghan asked.
“Seems so.” Zhao Xiaojing stood, tested her foot, and beamed. “Hey, it’s fine!”
“Good.” Xie Zhifei, who had run over from the other side, sighed in relief. “Lucky Sister saved you in time, or you’d have suffered.”
Zhao Xiaojing looked at Wen Pinghan, awkward for a moment. She pursed her lips, then said casually, “Thanks.”
“No problem.”
“Come hang out sometime.”
“As long as you don’t hate me.”
“Have I hated you?” Zhao Xiaojing said stubbornly. “I just find you a tiny bit annoying, that’s all.”
“You’d be better off not explaining,” Xie Zhifei said with a laugh.
Zhao Xiaojing glared at her. “Hmph, who am I doing this for?”
“If it’s for me, then get along with Sister, okay, my bestest bestie?”
Hearing Xie Zhifei call her the best bestie, Zhao Xiaojing perked up, smugly taking the out. “Fine, I’ll reluctantly get along with her.”
Wen Pinghan nodded.
Zhao Xiaojing added, “I’ve got a bit of a temper, mostly for people I don’t like. But with sisters, I’m all in.”
Xie Zhifei chimed in, “Sister, same here.”
Zhao Xiaojing: “If you like sour food, I won’t take you for bitter. If you like climbing mountains, I won’t drag you to the sea. And the men you like? I’d never touch them.”
Xie Zhifei: “Same here!”
Wen Pinghan: “.”
