The Green Tea Supporting Girl Is Still Playing Her Role Today (GL) - Chapter 35
Chapter 35
“You have so many good big sisters.” Wen Pinghan said indifferently.
“Sister, you’re different from her.” Xie Zhifei said quickly.
Wen Pinghan raised an eyebrow. “How are you different?”
“You’re younger than her!”
“…”
Xie Zhifei lifted her eyes and glanced in the direction of the second floor, as if she was afraid of being overheard, then covered her mouth and whispered in her ear, “And prettier than her!”
“…”
Xie Zhifei saw that she remained unmoved, so she continued to flatter her. “You’re kinder, gentler, more understanding, and more likable than her.”
Wen Pinghan’s ears twitched slightly. She pinched her earlobe, turned her head away, and created some distance between them. “All right, stop with the nonsense.”
“Your ears are red.” Xie Zhifei pinched her ears as if she had discovered something novel, and laughed very brazenly. “So Sister gets shy like this? Do you get embarrassed just from hearing praise?”
“I don’t.” Wen Pinghan pushed her hand away and turned around.
“Your face isn’t red too, is it? Let me see.” Xie Zhifei turned to look at her face. Wen Pinghan spun around twice, blocked her face with one hand while grabbing the bag on the sofa with the other, and fled through the door. “I’m going back!”
Xie Zhifei was overjoyed. She lingered in place, savoring her shy appearance, and her smile on her face became even brighter. Only then did she chase after her. “I’ll have the driver take you!”
The next day was Monday. Early in the morning, Xie Zhifei took Fang Ningshu to Gu Corporation to handle her resignation.
The other employees still did not know what had happened, but the HR department had received a call from Gu Zhizhang the night before last, instructing them to quickly process Fang Ningshu’s resignation procedures and to complete them as soon as possible.
The HR manager received this news and felt very confused.
Wasn’t Secretary Fang the assistant that President Gu favored the most? How could she be dismissed just like that?
HR did not get an answer from Gu Zhizhang, so when Fang Ningshu arrived, they could not help but ask curiously, “We’re all old acquaintances, so just tell your sister what happened. Maybe I can even help plead for you. After all, you’ve worked here for so many years, and your contributions are obvious to everyone.”
Fang Ningshu remained silent and did not answer, unsure of how to respond. Telling the truth would be too embarrassing. Telling a lie, if it got exposed, would be even more embarrassing.
“It was I who begged Brother Gu to let me have Secretary Fang. I admire Secretary Fang’s abilities so much that I wanted her to come to Qisheng to help me. Luckily, Brother Gu dotes on me and was willing to let her go.” Xie Zhifei suddenly said.
Fang Ningshu glanced at her.
“Oh, so that’s how it is. I was wondering why President Gu was in such a hurry to have me process the procedures for you. It turns out Miss Xie poached you.” The HR manager knew that Gu Zhizhang and Xie Zhifei had a good relationship, so she did not suspect anything further and quickly completed the procedures for her.
Fang Ningshu returned to her office, packed her things, and said simple goodbyes to her colleagues.
The colleagues were first surprised to learn that she was leaving suddenly, then secretly pleased. Over these years in the president’s office, she had wielded great power and was too prominent, leaving no opportunities for these people to stand out. Now that she was finally leaving, they expressed regret on the surface but were delighted in their hearts.
Only when it came time to actually leave did Fang Ningshu realize that she had spent these years revolving entirely around Gu Zhizhang, turning herself into someone who seemed unapproachable, with no close friends or colleagues.
The other employees’ reactions to her departure were more curiosity and doubt than reluctance.
No one would miss her.
She had never truly cared about anyone else either.
Except for Gu Zhizhang, but Gu Zhizhang had not even glanced at her once, even though his office was on this very floor.
She held the box and took one last look at the president’s office, gazing at the blurry figure inside, and bit her lip.
“Let’s go. If we’re any later, the road will be jammed.” Xie Zhifei patted her shoulder and urged her in a very down-to-earth way.
Fang Ningshu composed her emotions and walked out of the Gu Corporation building with an expressionless face. She tilted her head up to look at the glaring golden signboard and murmured, “Ten years. I left nothing behind here, and I take nothing away with me.”
“Welcome to Qisheng. Qisheng is your next home! You can take the toilet paper and pens!” Xie Zhifei immediately promoted.
“…” So you really can’t stand any sentimentality, can you?

“Sister Han, big news!” Lin Zhimin rushed over with her tray and squeezed in to sit beside Wen Pinghan. “Did you hear? Secretary Liu was transferred to headquarters and is now working for Director Xie.”
“Oh, so she went to headquarters.” Wen Pinghan had only thought of it after returning home last night. Once Fang Ningshu arrived at their branch, what would happen to the original Secretary Liu? They could not demote her, right?
If she was transferred to headquarters to join Director Xie’s secretarial office, that would be a good position too, and Secretary Liu would surely be happy about it.
“Yeah, the transfer was pretty sudden. I don’t know what happened.” Lin Zhimin muttered. “Everyone’s just guessing wildly now. None of the conclusions seem reliable.”
Wen Pinghan curved her lips slightly.
“What are you smiling about?”
“Nothing.” It was just that she had not expected that one day her gossip speed could actually surpass the water cooler chats.
Although the transfer came suddenly, Secretary Liu still had to stay for a while before leaving, because she needed to hand over work to the newcomer.
Secretary Liu waited left and right, and only in the afternoon did the person finally arrive.
As soon as she saw Fang Ningshu, she felt instant respect. Others might not know much about Fang Ningshu, but those of them who were secretaries had naturally heard of Fang Ningshu’s renowned name. She never imagined that the all-capable secretary of the prestigious Gu Corporation would condescend to come to Qisheng’s branch!
She had no idea how President Xie managed to pull this off!?
“Secretary Liu, you take her to get familiar with the company’s environment first.” Xie Zhifei instructed.
“Okay.”
Xie Zhifei returned to her own office, stretched lazily, and felt especially happy just thinking about having recruited such a capable assistant. So she could not wait to share the news with Wen Pinghan.
Xie Zhifei: [Fang Ningshu has reported for duty! [Penguin spinning][Penguin spinning][Penguin spinning]]
Wen Pinghan: [So happy?]
Xie Zhifei: [Yeah, with her here from now on, I can relax a lot more!]
Wen Pinghan: [That’s good.]
Xie Zhifei: [Soon everyone will know how amazing she is.]
Wen Pinghan stared at this line of text and realized that Xie Zhifei had always highly recognized Fang Ningshu’s work abilities, which was why she had gone to such lengths to poach her to Qisheng, especially from Gu Zhizhang.
Xie Zhifei valued Fang Ningshu highly.
After realizing this, Wen Pinghan closed her phone and focused intently on her work.
She could not let herself be surpassed.
She worked overtime that evening and did not get home until after nine o’clock. As soon as she scrolled through her Moments, she saw that Xie Zhifei had posted one.
The other woman was even more hardworking than her!
At this hour, she was still at the company working overtime.
This was maddening.
Wen Pinghan: [Didn’t you say you could relax a bit? It doesn’t look like it.]
Xie Zhifei: [Sigh, she’s still getting familiar with the environment and work. Secretary Liu is taking her around, so I have to handle a lot myself. And it just happens to be the new quarter, so I’m swamped to death.]
Wen Pinghan: [When will it end?]
Xie Zhifei: [Soon.]
Wen Pinghan: [I’m going to cook some midnight snack.]
Xie Zhifei: [Count me in!]
Xie Zhifei sped up, finished her tasks, glanced at the time—it was ten thirty—and quickly messaged Wen Pinghan that she was done, then drove to her place.
The apartment was close to the company anyway, so when she arrived, Wen Pinghan had just finished cooking the noodles.
“You arrived just in time.” Wen Pinghan quickly placed the bowl on the dining table and pinched her ear.
“Wow, so lavish?” Xie Zhifei picked up the fried egg on the noodles with her chopsticks. “Two whole ones!”
“I’m afraid you’ll drop dead from overwork.” Wen Pinghan joked casually, but Xie Zhifei paused for a moment.
She held the egg and smiled helplessly, took a big bite, then drank some noodle soup. She felt her stomach warm up, and her whole body warmed up too.
“If only I’d met you in my previous life. Coming home from overtime to someone preparing a hot midnight snack.”
For some reason, Wen Pinghan always felt that there was a touch of melancholy in her tone, so she smiled and said, “What, do you even know about your previous life?”
Xie Zhifei shrugged and smiled. “I’m just rambling. What if? What if I really did drop dead at my workstation in my previous life?”
“Pah pah pah, spit it out quickly. What are you saying? I was just joking casually. I’m not really cursing you.”
“I know.” Xie Zhifei smiled and kicked her foot under the table. “Sister is the kindest. How could she curse anyone?”
“Kind or not, if you really step on my toes, I’ll still beat you.” Wen Pinghan said.
“Really?” Xie Zhifei rubbed against her foot even more, lifted it up a bit, and her sole pressed against Wen Pinghan’s calf. She laughed triumphantly.
“…” Wen Pinghan rubbed back.
The two started fighting under the table.
When Xie Zhifei shamelessly rubbed near her knee, Wen Pinghan could not help but feel ticklish and pretended to be angry. “Eat your noodles quickly. If you keep fooling around, I won’t make it for you next time.”
“Okay.” Xie Zhifei grinned without any propriety, but she stopped fooling around, obediently ate her midnight snack, and then followed her to wash the dishes.
As Wen Pinghan wiped the bowls and plates, she suddenly asked, “Aren’t you afraid of making Brother Gu angry by poaching Fang Ningshu?”
“Why would he be angry? He dismissed her first. He should even thank me for taking in his confidante.” Xie Zhifei said proudly.
“I mean…” Wen Pinghan lowered her head and carefully wiped the plate in her hand. “There aren’t just one good secretary like Fang Ningshu. Why did you have to抢 Gu Zhizhang’s confidante specifically? Shouldn’t you be thinking of him more?”
“Why should I think of him?” Xie Zhifei asked puzzled. “Of course I’m thinking of myself and Qisheng.”
Wen Pinghan turned her head and looked at her doubtfully. “Don’t you like him?”
“When did I ever like him?”
“…”
“Oh, oh!” Xie Zhifei slapped her forehead. “Okay, I might have liked him before, but I don’t like him now.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Really??” Wen Pinghan asked again.
“Absolutely real. I can swear to you—if I still like him, then I’ll eat without chopsticks and go to the toilet without paper.”
“…”
Xie Zhifei blinked and asked oddly, “Sister, you wouldn’t have thought all along that I still like him, would you?”
Wen Pinghan guiltily shifted her eyes, turned them in a circle, and then lightly drifted them back to Xie Zhifei’s face. “Why don’t you like him anymore?”
“Such a great beauty like me, and he can’t even see it. That means he’s blind and doesn’t deserve me.” Xie Zhifei made up a reason casually. Seeing Wen Pinghan, she quickly changed her words. “Of course, I don’t mean he likes you or that you’re not good!”
“…” If you hadn’t said it, I really wouldn’t have thought that way.
