The Green Tea Supporting Girl Is Still Playing Her Role Today (GL) - Chapter 75
Chapter 75
After packing a few essentials, Wen Pinghan went downstairs with her.
As they stepped out of the building, her phone rang with an unfamiliar number. She answered it.
“Hello, Ms. Wen? This is the neighborhood security. There’s a woman here claiming to be your mother, wanting to see you.”
That woman had indeed come back to cause trouble during the day.
Wen Pinghan quickly stepped forward, lowering her voice and covering the phone. “No such thing. She’s a scammer. Don’t let her in, and don’t tell her where I live.”
Xie Zhifei opened the car door for her and asked, “Who was that?”
“Telemarketer.” Wen Pinghan slid into the car, quietly relieved at its privacy.
As the car drove out the gate, Wen Pinghan stared at the security booth, spotting the woman pestering the daytime guard. A headache crept in, and she leaned against the window, closing her eyes to rest.
“Sister, are you… tired?” Xie Zhifei, about to start a conversation, noticed her weary expression.
“Yeah.”
“Then rest for a bit. I’ll wake you when we get there.”
“Okay.” Wen Pinghan tried to push away old memories, but the more she tried, the more fragments surfaced, unsettling her.
A warm hand covered hers. Wen Pinghan suddenly remembered Xie Zhifei was beside her, and her furrowed brow gradually relaxed.
She opened her eyes, gazing intently at Xie Zhifei, who was silently watching a video. Sensing her movement, Xie Zhifei turned and said gently, “Did I wake you?”
“No.” Wen Pinghan gripped her hand in return. “I’m not even tired. What are you watching?”
She leaned over to glance at Xie Zhifei’s screen: two women were passionately kissing, seemingly moments away from something unspeakable.
Wen Pinghan gave her a sidelong look. “In broad daylight, you’re openly watching this?”
“Sister, let me explain!”
“Go on.”
“Well… it’s exactly what it looks like, but it’s not my fault! Big data sent it to me!” Xie Zhifei said sheepishly. “And this isn’t the full version; you have to pay for the rest…”
“Big data knows you better than you know yourself. You must watch this stuff a lot, huh?”
“It’s just… curiosity, learning, you know?”
“Learn something worthwhile.”
“It’s worthwhile! The comments say this one has the best car chase.”
“…” Wen Pinghan suddenly felt a twinge of anxiety about the next two days.
Once they arrived, Xie Zhifei excitedly carried Wen Pinghan’s things to her room, then went downstairs to eat together.
That afternoon, they received a message from Zhao Xiaojing, inviting them to Zhang Changsheng’s party at the amusement park they’d visited before.
At the park entrance, Zhao Xiaojing plopped Mickey Mouse headbands on their heads.
“Why so many people?” Xie Zhifei scanned the bustling crowd. Ticket inspectors were handing out free headbands, so everywhere they looked, it was a sea of Mickey Mouse heads.
“Yeah, our family’s business is always good, especially during winter break,” Zhao Xiaojing replied.
Xie Zhifei said, “I mean, weren’t you planning a custom party for her? I thought you’d book the whole place.”
“That was the plan, but she refused. She didn’t want it empty and said she likes the lively vibe,” Zhao Xiaojing explained. “So I turned these tourists into her NPC friends, and the Mickey Mouse headbands are a friendly signal.”
Xie Zhifei nodded. Wen Pinghan said, “She’s here.”
Wang Wan parked the car, and Zhang Changsheng stepped out of the passenger seat, bundled up in a hat, scarf, and earmuffs.
“The star’s arrived!” Zhao Xiaojing grinned, placing a headband on her.
Zhang Changsheng touched it and smiled. “Thanks.”
“Let’s go. More fun’s waiting inside.”
As they walked in, Wang Wan glanced around and suddenly asked, “Why isn’t Sister Shu here?”
The group paused. Xie Zhifei said, “I thought Xiaojing invited her.”
“I thought you’d bring her!” Zhao Xiaojing said, surprised.
Wang Wan pouted, displeased. “Xie Zhifei, call her already.”
“Why don’t you call her?”
“If I call, she’ll say she’s working overtime or too busy,” Wang Wan said dejectedly.
“How do you know if you don’t try?”
“Fine, don’t believe me.” Wang Wan pulled out her phone and dialed Fang Ningshu. “Sister Shu, we’re all at the amusement park for Zhang Changsheng’s party. You’re the only one missing. Are you coming?”
There was a long silence, and just as Wang Wan thought she’d refuse again, Fang Ningshu said, “Okay.”
“Awesome!” Wang Wan hung up, thrilled. “Let’s go play!”
The park was packed, and Wen Pinghan got bumped by someone. Xie Zhifei quickly grabbed her hand, pulling her closer and pointing at the distant Ferris wheel. “Want to ride it?”
“Too many people. It’ll be a long wait, and today’s not about us. Zhang Changsheng’s the star,” Wen Pinghan said.
“Doesn’t matter. You’re always the star to me,” Xie Zhifei huffed.
“What star?” Zhao Xiaojing suddenly popped up, whispering slyly, “How’d you know I planned a show?”
“What show?” Xie Zhifei asked.
“Ta-da!” Zhao Xiaojing pointed at a stage. “This is my specially designed martial arts performance!”
They looked up. A stage was set up, and a group was performing martial arts, the crowd cheering enthusiastically.
“Changsheng, your turn to shine!” Zhao Xiaojing pulled Zhang Changsheng away.
Zhang Changsheng gave a puzzled “?”
Soon, the martial arts show ended, and a new group took the stage for a skit about rival factions fighting over the world’s most beautiful woman.
Zhang Changsheng, the “most beautiful woman,” was brought onstage, sitting quietly as the actors battled dramatically. A few sword flourishes startled her, making her flinch.
“Is this really okay?” Wen Pinghan whispered to Xie Zhifei. “She looks scared.”
Xie Zhifei observed for a moment and smiled. “She’s enjoying it.”
Though a bit thrilling and scary, Zhang Changsheng soon watched their moves intently, clenching her fists during intense fight scenes. Her expression stayed neutral, making her emotions hard to read.
“You’re observing her that closely?” Wen Pinghan shot her a meaningful glance.
“Of course. I also noticed a certain sister might be jealous,” Xie Zhifei teased, smirking.
“No way.” Wen Pinghan pinched her cheek.
Suddenly, Wang Wan shouted from behind, “Sister Shu, we’re here!”
Fang Ningshu approached, and Wang Wan tiptoed to put a Mickey Mouse headband on her.
Fang Ningshu stood stiffly, frowning in confusion.
“It’s Xiaojing’s rule. Everyone entering wears one,” Wang Wan said, laughing at her awkward expression and calling the others to see.
Xie Zhifei grinned. “Secretary Fang, you’re adorable today!”
Wen Pinghan added, “Yeah, who knew Secretary Fang and Mickey Mouse went so well together.”
Fang Ningshu’s eyes went blank, like a dead fish, utterly lifeless.
Ten minutes later, the stage performance ended to thunderous applause.
Zhao Xiaojing brought Zhang Changsheng back, and they moved on. “Come on, there’s more to see!”
Five hundred meters ahead, a crowd gathered. Wang Wan stood on her toes, excited. “So many mascots!”
A fenced-off area held twenty or thirty large mascots, with tourists snapping photos from outside.
Zhao Xiaojing led them through a special entrance. Wang Wan, thrilled, hugged the mascots. Wen Pinghan, curious, peered into one’s eyeholes, locking eyes with a familiar gaze. She paused, then smiled and stepped back.
The mascots began a chaotic dance, and the tallest panda led the others to present Zhang Changsheng with flowers.
“Thanks,” Zhang Changsheng said, nodding repeatedly, a smile tugging at her lips.
The panda removed its head, revealing Li Feng’s sweaty face. Others followed, unmasking familiar faces.
“Changsheng, this is my boyfriend,” Zhao Xiaojing said happily, introducing them one by one. “This is my junior high friend, this one’s my employee… They’re all your new friends!”
“Zhang Changsheng looks visibly happy,” Wen Pinghan said.
“Li Feng really loves Xiaojing,” Xie Zhifei said at the same time. They exchanged glances.
“Why bring up Li Feng?” Xie Zhifei asked.
“To help Xiaojing with her first big event, he danced in a stuffy mascot costume. That’s not just for fun—he must really love her,” Wen Pinghan said with a smile.
“That’s it? I could do that!” Xie Zhifei ran to Li Feng, grabbed his headpiece, and returned to Wen Pinghan. “Tell me, what dance do you want?”
Wen Pinghan stifled a laugh, leaning close to whisper, “Dance for me at home. Just for me.”
Xie Zhifei blushed. “Oh no, you want a striptease?”
“Thanks for the idea.”
Xie Zhifei: (/ω\)
“Let’s go. They’re moving on,” Wen Pinghan said.
The group, joined by the mascot crew and trailing tourists, grew into a long line, like a celebrity was ahead.
“So many people,” Zhang Changsheng said, glancing back.
“No worries, everyone’s a guest. Tonight, we’re all Mickey Mouse’s friends!” Zhao Xiaojing shouted.
Zhang Changsheng looked at the snaking crowd again and smiled faintly.
They reached the roller coaster area, where a VR machine stood in the waiting zone.
“You said you’ve never ridden a roller coaster. I wouldn’t make you try the real thing, but this VR’s a good start. Give it a go,” Zhao Xiaojing said.
Zhang Changsheng sat in the pod, taking the VR glasses. “Is it scary?”
“It’s fine. I tested it multiple times,” Zhao Xiaojing said, resting a hand on her shoulder. “This way, you’ll know it’s virtual and won’t be as scared.”
The others exchanged glances. Wen Pinghan placed her hand on Zhang Changsheng’s shoulder, followed by Fang Ningshu and Wang Wan. Xie Zhifei pressed her hand against Wen Pinghan’s.
Screams from the nearby roller coaster filled the air. Zhang Changsheng looked around, her eyes brimming with a smile. “Thank you all.”
With the glasses on, a roller coaster appeared before her. The seat moved, and her face tensed, hands gripping tightly as she felt the climb. The seat paused, then plunged, and she finally screamed, blending with the real coaster’s noise.
“Is she okay?” Wen Pinghan asked, worried.
“It’s kid mode,” Zhao Xiaojing said.
They watched Zhang Changsheng’s continuous screams and fell silent.
Afterward, Zhang Changsheng removed the glasses, visibly excited. “Can I go again?”
“Of course, as long as you want.”
Half an hour later, Wang Wan, squatting on the ground, poked Zhao Xiaojing. “Still not done?”
“Should be soon…” Zhao Xiaojing, looking defeated, doodled in the dirt.
“My legs are numb. I’m heading to the restaurant to order,” Li Feng said, limping off.
Wang Wan scanned the group, looking up at Fang Ningshu, who stood like a stalk of green onion. “Where’d Xie Zhifei and Wen Pinghan go?”
“No idea.”
“You’ve been standing there. Didn’t you notice them leave?”
Fang Ningshu paused, then squatted. “Now I’m squatting.”
Wang Wan laughed. “Sister Shu, you’re too clever.”
“Don’t we need to join them?” Wen Pinghan asked, holding candied hawthorn in one hand and grilled skewers in the other, sitting with Xie Zhifei on the second floor of a nearby eatery.
“We can see them from here. We’ll go when Changsheng’s done. Sister, I want grilled gluten,” Xie Zhifei said.
“Okay.” Wen Pinghan handed her the lamb skewer and went to buy gluten.
As she returned, Xie Zhifei came down. “Changsheng’s done.”
“Let’s go.” Wen Pinghan, holding a handful of grilled gluten, shared some with everyone. When she reached Zhang Changsheng, she asked, “Can you eat this?”
“My family doesn’t let me eat this stuff,” Zhang Changsheng said, but her hand reached out. “But I want to try.”
Everyone laughed.
“It’s getting dark. Let’s eat,” Zhao Xiaojing said, leading them to the park’s restaurant.
After dinner, she checked the time and stood. “Come on, there’s one more event!”
“Another one? I’m exhausted,” Wang Wan said, rubbing her head.
Ten minutes later, Wang Wan shouted, “This is awesome! I could dance for three days straight!”
Zhao Xiaojing had arranged an EDM festival, and tourists were already bouncing to the music. Wang Wan dove in, then ran back when she noticed the others weren’t joining. “Why aren’t you dancing?”
“I don’t know how,” Wen Pinghan said.
“Me neither,” Zhang Changsheng added.
“No skill needed! Jump, swing your head, don’t think—just dance!” Wang Wan pulled them in.
“Exactly,” Zhao Xiaojing said, guiding Zhang Changsheng.
Wen Pinghan watched the crowd dance for a while, then turned to see Xie Zhifei wildly swinging her head.
“…”
Xie Zhifei stumbled, nearly falling. “My brain’s all shaken up.”
Wen Pinghan laughed, steadying her.
As more people joined, the crowd threatened to separate them, but they grabbed each other’s hands in time. Under the shifting, colorful lights, they locked eyes and smiled in unison.
“I really want to go home now,” Xie Zhifei said suddenly.
“Me too.”
They slipped out of the crowd, holding hands, and raced to the exit. The moment they got home and shut the door, they kissed passionately.
A loud clatter.
They froze, turning to see Aunt’s spatula on the floor.
Xie Zhifei: “!!!”
They’d been so caught up, they forgot Aunt was home.
Wen Pinghan swallowed hard, stiffly asking, “Did you see anything?”
“Uh… yeah, you’ve got a cavity,” Xie Zhifei said, equally stiff, trying to bluff while staring at Aunt.
Wen Pinghan: “…”
Aunt: “????”
