The Green Tea Supporting Girl Is Still Playing Her Role Today (GL) - Chapter 81
Chapter 81
Xie Zhifei was actually a bit nervous, though she maintained a calm exterior to reassure the other person, unaware that Wen Pinghan had already seen through her.
“Fei.”
“Hm?”
“Happy New Year.” Wen Pinghan’s eyes brimmed with affection as she gently kissed her lips.
“I love you,” she said.
Xie Zhifei completely relaxed. She knew her sister would envelop her with love, graciously accepting her recklessness.
The surroundings were utterly silent. Wen Pinghan clenched her teeth, letting out only a faint sound, her eyes growing wetter until she couldn’t hold back her tears. Xie Zhifei leaned down to kiss her.
“I love you too, Wen Pinghan.”
In this world, she had finally found the meaning of her existence.
When the first ray of morning light spilled into the room, Xie Zhifei kissed Wen Pinghan’s forehead, then carefully slipped out. As she stepped out of the room, she saw Zhang Changsheng opening her door. They locked eyes in the hallway.
Xie Zhifei froze, then flashed a bright smile as she passed Zhang Changsheng, casually greeting, “Up so early?”
“Yeah, early to bed, early to rise keeps you healthy,” Zhang Changsheng replied.
“Uh… Sister’s feeling a bit under the weather, so I’m going to check on her,” Xie Zhifei explained awkwardly.
“Mm.”
“?” She believed that just like that?
Xie Zhifei gave an embarrassed smile and quickly found an excuse to dart back to her room.
Another door opened, and Wang Wan emerged, rubbing her eyes. She walked to Wen Pinghan’s door, about to knock, but Zhang Changsheng stopped her.
“Looking for her?”
“Huh?” Wang Wan yawned before saying, “She mentioned getting up early last night, so I even set an alarm to wake her.”
“She’s not feeling well, no need to wake her. You should go back to sleep.”
“Not feeling well? Then shouldn’t we check on her?” Wang Wan grabbed the doorknob, ready to barge in.
“Don’t…” Zhang Changsheng held her hand, pausing to think before saying, “She has a cold and doesn’t want us catching it, so she’s not letting anyone in her room.”
“Has she taken any medicine?”
“She has.”
“Alright, then I’ll go back to sleep.” Wang Wan dragged her tired body back to her room.
By eight o’clock, everyone gradually got up and gathered at the dining table, waiting for breakfast.
“Where’s Xie Zhifei?” Wang Wan scanned the group, noticing two people were missing.
“I’ll go check. Everyone else is up, how’s she still sleeping?” Zhao Xiaojing stood to find Xie Zhifei but didn’t see her in her room. Thinking quickly, she headed to Wen Pinghan’s room.
Sure enough, she heard Xie Zhifei’s muffled voice from outside. She knocked on the door. “Breakfast is almost ready. What are you two dawdling for?”
“Coming!” Xie Zhifei shouted back. Turning around, she grinned and flopped onto the bed, gazing at Wen Pinghan with a silly smile. “Awake yet? Want to sleep more? I can tell them you’re not feeling well.”
Wen Pinghan, still groggy, stared at the ceiling for a moment before deciding to get up. With so many people waiting, and since the Xie family had to visit her grandmother after breakfast, she didn’t want to delay their plans.
She raised her hand, and Xie Zhifei immediately helped pull her up from the bed, cupping her face and planting kiss after kiss.
Wen Pinghan, initially sleepy, burst into laughter. “Alright, I don’t even need to wash my face now.”
Xie Zhifei, still grinning, refused to let go, whining as she hugged her. “Ugh, I don’t want to be apart from you, Sister. Why don’t you come with me to Grandma’s today?”
“How would that look? All those relatives will ask who I am, and I’m not in the mood to deal with so many people… You’ll be back tomorrow, right?” Wen Pinghan held her face, smiling tenderly. “I’ll make you something delicious at home tomorrow. Come back early.”
“Really? Then I’ll be back tomorrow morning!” Xie Zhifei’s eyes lit up with anticipation.
“Are you up yet?” Zhao Xiaojing knocked again. “Hurry up, Uncle Xie’s already downstairs.”
“Right away!” Wen Pinghan pushed Xie Zhifei off, quickly getting out of bed to change.
Xie Zhifei sprawled on the bed, sneaking a glance at the faint, suggestive marks on Wen Pinghan’s body, unable to suppress a giggle.
They finally went downstairs, and Xie Hongxu asked, “I heard Little Wen’s not feeling well?”
“Yeah!” Xie Zhifei answered for her.
“Then we should call a doctor,” Xie Hongxu said with concern.
“No need, no need to trouble anyone. It’s the New Year, let the doctors enjoy their family time,” Xie Zhifei said hurriedly.
“I’m talking to Little Wen. Why do you keep jumping in? Is she your friend or mine? How can you stop us from getting a doctor when your friend’s sick?” Xie Hongxu scolded.
Wen Pinghan smiled. “Uncle Xie, it’s really no trouble. I’m feeling much better now. I’ll visit the hospital when I get home.”
“Alright then, sit down and eat. The fried dough sticks are getting cold,” Xie Hongxu said.
“Okay.” Wen Pinghan and Xie Zhifei sat together, and as they picked up their dough sticks, the rings on their hands caught the light.
“Hey, when did you two get those rings?” Wang Wan, sharp-eyed, noticed. The rings were a limited-edition design from a luxury brand. Xie Zhifei could afford them, but Wen Pinghan, with her modest salary, didn’t seem like someone who’d splurge like that.
Wen Pinghan froze, and as Xie Zhifei scrambled for an explanation, Zhao Xiaojing chimed in, “I gave them to them.”
“Really?!” Wang Wan looked at her in shock. “You’re that generous?”
“Yeah, they’re my good sisters. Isn’t it normal to give them a little gift?” Zhao Xiaojing said.
Xie Zhifei shot her an appreciative glance.
“Am I your good sister too?” Wang Wan’s eyes sparkled.
“Sort of, but I’m broke now. You know my parents cut off my card. Wait till I make my own money—I’ll get you an even fancier one!” Zhao Xiaojing promised grandly.
“Wow, I’m looking forward to it! I’ll have to make big money too to return the favor,” Wang Wan said ambitiously.
The two clasped hands, cheering each other on.
Fang Ningshu and Zhang Changsheng couldn’t help but smirk, sipping their soy milk quietly.
Wen Pinghan and Xie Zhifei exchanged a smile.
Since they had to leave in the morning, Xie Hongxu asked about their plans.
Zhao Xiaojing said, “I’ll go home to show my face, prove I’m not dead.”
Zhang Changsheng said, “I’m heading straight to my grandpa’s place, so I won’t go to the Gu family. Wang Wan, please let Aunt know for me.”
Wang Wan nodded. “Sure, but I’m not ready to go back yet.”
Wen Pinghan said, “I’m going home too.”
Wang Wan’s eyes lit up. “Can I come hang out at your place later?”
Wen Pinghan thought for a moment and agreed. “Sure, come over if you’re bored.”
“Great.” Satisfied with a plan, Wang Wan happily dug into her fried egg.
Xie Zhifei pouted. “I want to go too…”
“You can go another day. Today, you’re coming with me to Grandma’s for New Year’s greetings,” Xie Hongxu said.
“Ugh.”
After breakfast, Xie Hongxu went to prepare gifts for the visit, leaving the young women downstairs.
Zhao Xiaojing didn’t want to leave until the last possible moment, dragging her feet. Wen Pinghan was the same, and since Wang Wan was going to her place, she lounged on the sofa. Zhang Changsheng waited for her grandpa’s driver to pick her up, while Fang Ningshu was the only one to leave promptly.
Bored, Zhao Xiaojing’s eyes wandered until she sidled up to Xie Zhifei, tugged at her scarf, and spotted a small red mark on her neck.
“Holy crap, Wen Pinghan’s a beast!” Zhao Xiaojing gasped, turning to Wen Pinghan with an elegant thumbs-up.
Wen Pinghan: “…”
Wang Wan looked up. “What’s a beast?”
Zhao Xiaojing didn’t answer, instead winking at Xie Zhifei with a sly grin. “Fei, you’re slacking.”
Xie Zhifei: “You don’t know squat.”
Wang Wan pressed, “Slacking at what? What are you guys talking about?”
“I know way more than you think. You think I don’t know? I know tons more than you, and I bet you don’t even know half of it,” Zhao Xiaojing teased with a smirk.
Wang Wan: “What’s this about knowing and not knowing??”
Xie Zhifei: “Keep up that snarky tone, and I’ll tell Li Feng about your hidden romantic history.”
“How dare you! You think I won’t spill your romantic history?”
“She already knows.”
“But there are things even you don’t remember! Heh heh, want me to jog your memory about your old pathetic crushes?”
“Damn it, that never happened!” Xie Zhifei lunged to cover her mouth, and the two wrestled on the sofa.
“What are you guys even talking about?! One second, and I’m already lost!” Wang Wan fumed.
Zhang Changsheng pressed her shoulder and handed her a book. “Read this when you’re annoyed. It’ll calm you down.”
“It’s not calming me at all! I’m dying to know what they’re talking about. It sounds like some juicy gossip!” Wang Wan’s curiosity blazed as she turned to Wen Pinghan. “Do you get what they’re saying?”
She understood but didn’t want to.
“Let’s go, time to head back,” Wen Pinghan said.
Xie Zhifei, mid-scuffle, froze. “Leaving so soon?”
“Yeah, come here. I need to talk to you.”
“Okay.” Xie Zhifei followed her back to the room, and as soon as the door closed, she leaned down for a kiss.
After a long, reluctant parting, Xie Zhifei held her hand, swinging it gently. “Sister, what did you want to say?”
“Your grandma’s birthday will probably have a lot of relatives, right?” Wen Pinghan asked.
“Yeah.”
“Then some might urge you to date or marry, or try to set you up. Don’t agree to anything,” Wen Pinghan said.
“Got it, I won’t agree to anything!” Xie Zhifei nodded vigorously.
“And if some random guy asks for your contact info, don’t give it out, except for work.”
“No problem, I won’t let any guy near me!”
“Mm.” Wen Pinghan’s lips curved, her eyes softening as she leaned up to kiss her lightly. “I’ll miss you.”
“Me too. I’m already missing you, wishing I could roll you up and tuck you in my pocket,” Xie Zhifei whined.
“Fei, where’s Fei at?” Xie Hongxu’s voice called from outside.
“Here!” Xie Zhifei opened the door, rushing out and twisting her ankle. Luckily, Xie Hongxu was right there to steady her.
Once upright, Xie Zhifei shook off his hand and turned to Wen Pinghan. “Sorry, Sister, I just lost my balance. Dad only helped me up, don’t misunderstand~”
Wen Pinghan: “…” She wasn’t misunderstanding. 🙂
“Misunderstand what?” Xie Hongxu asked, confused.
“Not telling you. What’s up?”
“Do you remember where we put the ginseng?”
“Nope.”
“This kid, what a memory.” Xie Hongxu grumbled, then noticed Wen Pinghan in Xie Zhifei’s room and smiled. “Little Wen, do you drink? I’ll grab some good wine for you all to take home.”
With that, he headed downstairs to pick out wine.
“My dad’s something else, always offering fine wine to beautiful women. Not like me, I wouldn’t~”
Wen Pinghan: “…”
