The Green Tea Supporting Girl Is Still Playing Her Role Today (GL) - Chapter 84
Chapter 84
The sound of sizzling oil filled the kitchen. Wang Wan peeked through the kitchen door before pulling Xie Zhifei out to the balcony. She closed the balcony door and lowered her voice to ask, “How exactly did you guys deal with that family?”
“Why do you want to know?”
“Curiosity.”
“Some things are better left unknown, even if you’re curious,” Xie Zhifei said with a smile. “You can’t keep a secret, so I’m not telling you.”
“How do you know I can’t keep a secret?”
“This matter is done and dusted. Let it go,” Xie Zhifei said.
Wang Wan thought for a moment and sighed, “Fine.”
“Thanks. I heard you even slapped that woman,” Xie Zhifei said, patting her shoulder. “If you ever need my help, just say the word.”
“Wen Pinghan thanking me is one thing, but why are you thanking me?” Wang Wan asked, puzzled. “Sudden flattery? You’re up to something shady! Spill it—what do you want me to do?”
“Nothing. Anything else? If not, I’m heading inside. It’s freezing,” Xie Zhifei said, rubbing her arms.
“Let’s go. I’m about to lose it out here too,” Wang Wan said, tucking her neck and quickly darting back inside.
The two went to the kitchen to help. Wen Pinghan asked Xie Zhifei about her time at her grandmother’s, and Xie Zhifei eagerly shared funny stories.
“You came back so early in the morning. Didn’t your dad or grandma say anything?” Wen Pinghan asked with a hint of worry.
“Nope.” In truth, she’d rushed back the previous afternoon, claiming urgent company business, so there wasn’t much they could say.
Wen Pinghan fed her a slice of tomato. “You worked hard.”
Xie Zhifei bit into it and smiled.
Wen Pinghan felt Xie Zhifei’s tongue brush her finger, her face flushing slightly. She glanced at Wang Wan, who was poking at a fish head nearby, and shot Xie Zhifei a reproachful look.
Xie Zhifei doubled down, quickly stealing a kiss on her cheek.
Wen Pinghan nudged her with an elbow. Xie Zhifei stumbled back two steps, bumping into Wang Wan.
“What are you doing?” Wang Wan grumbled. “Grown adult and you can’t even stand steady!”
Xie Zhifei and Wen Pinghan exchanged a glance and laughed.
At the dining table, the three of them faced a lavish spread that left Wang Wan stunned. She couldn’t help but exclaim, “You’re way too enthusiastic! We’re all friends—keep it simple. Like, these dishes could’ve just been swapped for some lobster.”
“You look like a lobster,” Xie Zhifei shot back.
“You Amazonian giant ant,” Wang Wan retorted.
“Sister, did you hear that? She called me a giant!” Xie Zhifei said excitedly.
Wen Pinghan: “…”
Wang Wan: “???” Crazy.
After dinner, Xie Zhifei started finding Wang Wan’s presence annoying. Every time she wanted to get close to Wen Pinghan, Wang Wan would innocently drag her to watch TV together.
When a romantic date scene played on TV, Wang Wan covered her mouth, letting out some embarrassing squeals. Out of nowhere, she asked, “By the way, Wen Pinghan, aren’t you in a relationship? How come I’ve only seen you talk to Xie Zhifei and no one else?”
Wen Pinghan and Xie Zhifei exchanged a look, smiling without a word.
“Did you two fight?” Wang Wan guessed. “What could you possibly fight about during the holidays?”
Wen Pinghan said, “No fight. Things are great.”
“Then why haven’t you contacted him or invited him over? We’re all here—call him over so we can check him out and see what kind of guy he is.”
Wen Pinghan laughed, “No need for you to check him out. I’ve already done that.”
“You’re too close to see clearly. You might have a love-addled brain! Beware of that!” Wang Wan said seriously.
“What’s a love-addled brain like?”
“Well… it’s when your head’s full of them, thinking they’re the best in the world, feeling like you’re not even good enough for them, and wanting to give them everything!”
“Oh… then I guess I really am love-addled.”
“See! A love-addled brain is no good!” Wang Wan shook her shoulders vigorously. “Snap out of it!”
Xie Zhifei pried her hands off and said, “One love-addled brain might be bad, but what if both people are love-addled?”
“Well…” Wang Wan’s eyes darted as she thought hard, finally blurting, “Then they’re a perfect match, both brain-dead.”
Xie Zhifei burst out laughing and turned to Wen Pinghan. “No worries, right? We’re both love-addled.”
“I’m not,” Wang Wan said proudly.
“Of course, you’re the independent, unparalleled genius,” Xie Zhifei said, amused.
Wang Wan froze, then asked curiously, “Wait, how are you love-addled too?”
“Why can’t I be?” Xie Zhifei countered.
Wang Wan recalled how Xie Zhifei had pined for Gu Zhizhang for years, definitely qualifying as love-addled. Curiosity piqued, she asked, “You really don’t like my cousin anymore?”
“Nope, not for a while. I’ve got someone new now. Stop bringing up your cousin—I’m afraid she’ll get jealous,” Xie Zhifei said, smiling at Wen Pinghan.
Wen Pinghan discreetly pinched her arm, making Xie Zhifei wince and dramatically collapse into her arms.
“You like someone else now? Who? Do I know them?” Wang Wan was bursting with gossip. Compared to Wen Pinghan’s love life, Xie Zhifei liking someone new was far more shocking. She was dying to know who could catch her interest.
“Use that unparalleled genius brain of yours to figure it out,” Xie Zhifei said with a grin.
“Come on, just tell me! I’m begging you!” Wang Wan dropped to her knees on the couch, practically ready to bow.
Xie Zhifei leaned on Wen Pinghan’s shoulder, smiling at her. Glancing at the time, she asked, “It’s getting dark. When are you heading home?”
Wang Wan said, “I told you I’m staying with Wen Pinghan for a few days, so that—”
Wen Pinghan suddenly looked at her, signaling her to stop.
Wang Wan awkwardly shut her mouth. Then, realizing Xie Zhifei had already handled that family’s trouble, she thought maybe she didn’t need to stay after all.
“But I don’t want to go back yet. No other friends would take me in,” Wang Wan said, aggrieved.
“Fang Ningshu would take you in. Go!” Xie Zhifei said.
“No way!”
“Don’t believe me? I’ll ask her.” Xie Zhifei called Fang Ningshu, smiling but with a hint of threat in her tone. “Secretary Fang, would you be willing to take in poor, homeless little Wanwan? She’s at Big Sis’s place now, and it’s really crowded.”
Fang Ningshu: “…”
After hanging up, Xie Zhifei raised an eyebrow. “Done. She sincerely invites you to hang out but warns she doesn’t cook.”
“No big deal. I can cook, and I can order takeout!” Wang Wan excitedly rushed off to Fang Ningshu’s place.
Once the door closed, Xie Zhifei eagerly pinned Wen Pinghan to the couch, leaning down to kiss her.
Dusk came quickly, faint rays of light spilling into the living room, casting a soft glow on Wen Pinghan’s fair chest, slowly sweeping across her body.
Xie Zhifei kept chasing the dusk with her kisses.

Wang Wan hung out at Fang Ningshu’s for a bit before diving into gossip. “Did you know Xie Zhifei likes someone? Do you know who it is? Have you known for a while? Come on, tell me who it is! Big Sis Shu, please, just tell me! I swear I won’t tell anyone!”
Fang Ningshu said, “Keep yapping, and you’re out.”
Wang Wan shut her mouth, feeling wronged.
Fang Ningshu opened the door, and Wang Wan complained, “I stopped asking, and you’re still kicking me out?”
“Dinner.”
“Oh, right!”
After eating out, Wang Wan obediently followed her back, grabbing clean bedding to make the guest bed. Just as she was about to shower, her phone rang.
She stared at the caller ID, hesitating before picking up. After a few words, she hung up quickly and said to Fang Ningshu, “Big Sis Shu, I’ve got to head back for something.”
“What is it?” Fang Ningshu asked, sipping her tea.
“My cousin got drunk at a bar, and he’s alone. Aunt asked me to pick him up,” Wang Wan said, throwing on her clothes and rushing out.
Fang Ningshu sat quietly for a moment, checking the time. It was late, and a drunk in a bar wasn’t safe. But sending a young girl to fetch someone from a bar was supposed to be fine?
Shaking her head helplessly, Fang Ningshu grabbed her car keys and went downstairs. She followed and waited outside the bar, watching as Wang Wan dragged Gu Zhizhang out and struggled to get him into a taxi. Only after the taxi left did she drive back.
“Aunt, we’re back,” Wang Wan said, dumping a plastered Gu Zhizhang onto the couch, rubbing her sore shoulders and arms.
Gu’s mother came out of her room, walked up to Gu Zhizhang, grabbed a glass of cold water from the table, and splashed it on his face.
Gu Zhizhang opened his eyes, locking into a silent standoff with his mother.
“Look at the state of you!” Gu’s mother pointed at him, yelling. Soon, the mother and son were arguing loudly.
Wang Wan didn’t want to get involved. She went to her room to shower, hearing the argument finally stop, with her aunt seemingly storming back to her room. She went downstairs for water and saw Gu Zhizhang stumbling toward the door again. She couldn’t help but ask, “Bro, where are you going now?”
“None of your business.”
Wang Wan frowned, displeased. “I’m not trying to meddle, but can you pull yourself together? It’s just an unrequited crush. Is it worth acting like you’re half-dead? Where’s the cousin I used to look up to?”
Gu Zhizhang gave a cold, bitter smile.
“Acting like this won’t make anyone pity or care about you. Forget Wen Pinghan—even Xie Zhifei won’t like you anymore,” Wang Wan said, storming back to her room in a huff.
Gu Zhizhang froze, then slumped onto the couch. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. He thought back on recent events, suddenly realizing Wang Wan might be right.
Buzz buzz buzz—
Xie Zhifei grabbed her phone from the nightstand, surprised by the caller ID. She answered, “Hello?”
“Fei.”
“Yeah, what’s up?”
“Fei…”
Hearing his hesitant tone, Xie Zhifei asked, “Are you drunk?”
“Yeah… my head’s killing me. Can you come keep me company?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“I’ve got more important things to do,” Xie Zhifei said, lying on the bed, grinning at Wen Pinghan, who’d just come out of the shower. “Nothing urgent, so I’m hanging up.”
“Who was that?” Wen Pinghan asked, sitting on the bed.
“Gu Zhizhang.”
“What did he want?”
“He said he’s drunk and wants me to keep him company.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Wen Pinghan’s brows furrowed, her displeasure clear.
“I shut him down right away—you heard me,” Xie Zhifei said, quickly proving her innocence. She sat up, hugging and kissing Wen Pinghan. “I’m not like him. I don’t go whispering sweet nothings to pretty girls in the middle of the night. I only do that with you, Big Sis~”
Wen Pinghan suddenly pushed her down, kissing her lips fiercely, as if determined to leave her mark.
Xie Zhifei grinned at the ceiling, but soon enough, she couldn’t smile anymore QwQ.
