The Green Tea Supporting Girl Is Still Playing Her Role Today (GL) - Chapter 9
Chapter 9
Early in the morning, the office buzzed with excitement. Today, they’d find out who the new sales manager would be.
The marketing department was large, so competition for management roles was fierce. In a small company, anyone might be a sales manager, but in a big corporation like Qisheng, even becoming a sales supervisor required immense effort, let alone a sales manager.
“Mr. Wu is in a senior meeting right now. He’ll come talk to you all afterward,” Assistant Xiaoqing sent a WeChat message to the candidates.
Wen Pinghan took a sip of water. Lin Zhimin leaned in, whispering, “Think you’ve got a shot?”
“No idea.”
“Any reply to last night’s email?”
“Nope.”
Lin Zhimin looked ready to face death. “If you decide to quit, let me know. I’ll leave with you.”
“Really?” Wen Pinghan looked at her, surprised. “You’ve finally gotten comfortable here, even landed your own clients. You’d give that up?”
“No choice. If you leave, Mr. Wu will definitely make my life miserable. Plus, just thinking about that creep Wu’s face gives me the chills. If I got a promotion and the reward was working under him, I’d rather die.” Lin Zhimin shuddered, then smiled at her. “Besides, you’re not just a boss or colleague to me anymore. You’re like my spiritual leader!”
“Exaggerating much?” Wen Pinghan said, amused.
As they spoke, a commotion erupted outside. A crowd rushed toward the elevator.
Lin Zhimin, always eager for gossip, ran to the door, grabbed someone, and asked, “What’s everyone looking at?”
“The police are here!”
Lin Zhimin turned back, wide-eyed, locking gazes with Wen Pinghan. She scurried over, whispering, “Are they here for your case? Do you need to go testify?”
Wen Pinghan looked up. “It’s fine. I’m prepared.”

In the top-floor conference room.
Wu Fangda finished reporting on market strategies and plans, glancing at the woman in the main seat, his eyes flickering.
This woman was strikingly beautiful.
Such a pity she was a leader.
And too beautiful to control.
“Ms. Xie, any questions?” Wu Fangda asked with a grin.
He was met with silence.
Others glanced over. She was just a spoiled heiress sent by Ms. Xie to coast through, her degree bought with money, no work experience to speak of. Yet, sitting there quietly, twirling her pen, she somehow exuded an intimidating presence.
Wu Fangda wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. “Is Ms. Xie unhappy with the plan?”
“No, I’m very satisfied with the plan,” Xie Zhifei finally spoke.
Wu Fangda exhaled, already imagining the plan’s success as another highlight of his career, with hefty commissions and bonuses—maybe enough for a new car, and then he could take…
Lost in thought, he was interrupted by her next words—
“But I’m not satisfied with you.”
“Ms. Xie, what do you mean?” Wu Fangda kept his smile.
Xie Zhifei glanced at her phone, then turned toward the door. “If you don’t understand, let the police explain.”
“Who’s Wu Fangda?” Two officers walked in, one after the other. The room gasped, whispers erupting.
Wu Fangda paled. “That’s me… What do you want?”
“We received a report that you sexually harassed a subordinate.”
The room gasped again, murmurs growing louder. Someone stood up. “Is there a mistake? Old Wu’s an honest guy, the company’s famous golden bachelor. How could he harass anyone?”
“Yeah, do you have evidence?”
“We have evidence. Please come with us,” the officer said to Wu Fangda.
“Wait, there might be a misunderstanding! I’ve made some enemies lately; someone could be framing me. Who reported me? Have them face me!” Wu Fangda said, feigning calm, mentally running through possibilities. No one could have evidence. Then he asked, “Was it Xu Chang? She’s my girlfriend. It’s a consensual relationship, not harassment. Ask her yourself!”
“Is that so?” Xie Zhifei raised an eyebrow. “Then let’s bring Xu Chang up to clarify. Everyone else, leave. Don’t interfere with the police.”
Ten minutes later, Xu Chang stood in the conference room, trembling as she glanced at Wu Fangda. “I’m dating Mr. Wu. We kept it secret to avoid workplace gossip.”
The officer eyed her. “The person in the video isn’t you.”
“What video?” Panic flashed across Wu Fangda’s face.
The officer opened his phone. The video clearly showed Wu Fangda saying “Wen Pinghan’s” name and Wen Pinghan declaring, “This is sexual harassment,” making it clear she wasn’t willing.
Wu Fangda’s pupils shrank, his face drained of color. But he quickly turned to Xie Zhifei, almost pleading. “Ms. Xie, can you put in a good word for me? You liked my market plan, didn’t you? You know my work ability! I can bring the company more profits! I just had a moment of weakness, I swear it won’t happen again!”
“A moment of weakness erases your mistake? Lets you trample on someone’s life?” Xie Zhifei stepped toward him, her face cold. “Guess who reported you?”
Wu Fangda looked at her, confused. She smirked. “Me.”
His face turned ashen, disbelief in his eyes. “You called the police over a low-level employee? Without my help, I’d like to see how a decorative vase like you handles this big project!”
“Sorry, you seem to misunderstand me. Whether I can handle the project remains to be seen, but I definitely can’t tolerate trash,” Xie Zhifei said, signaling the police to take him away.
Soon, news of Wu Fangda’s harassment spread through the company. At first, people were skeptical, but after the official announcement, shock turned to outrage. Everyone was curious about the victim and witness.
No one knew that only Xu Chang was called up. Whether she knew or not, or was a victim herself, she likely couldn’t face staying at the company.
Soon, an HR notice arrived: due to the marketing director’s misconduct, he was fired and permanently blacklisted.
The speed of the response was staggering, as if it had been planned.
As everyone discussed it, Wen Pinghan was dazed. It was settled? She didn’t even have to testify?
“Big Sis Han!” Lin Zhimin rushed back, eagerly sharing what she’d heard. “Ms. Xie, only two weeks into her role, fired the regional director. The board demanded an explanation, and she threw the evidence in their faces.”
Wen Pinghan froze, pursed her lips, and lowered her eyes. “Yeah, makes sense. She had to shut them up.”
“But the photo from the video blurred the woman’s face. You can only tell she’s wearing the company’s formal attire, so it’s definitely someone from here,” Lin Zhimin said, her eyes widening as she happily hugged Wen Pinghan. “Everyone’s guessing who it is, but no one knows!”
“Because a few days ago, the notice went out that everyone must wear formal attire,” Wen Pinghan said, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
Thinking back, that notice came the day after her anonymous email. Though Xie Zhifei didn’t reply to it, she was already protecting a potential victim.
Even if that victim only dared to send an anonymous email to test the waters. Even if that victim was just one of countless low-level employees.
“I want to meet Ms. Xie and thank her in person,” Wen Pinghan said, then shook her head. “But she’s probably swamped, dealing with this mess.”
People chatted but got back to work, losing interest in guessing the victim’s identity.
Xie Zhifei was indeed overwhelmed. The sudden personnel change and disrupted plans kept her busy. Amidst it all, she spotted a fresh email from her courageous little employee.
[Ms. Xie, thank you.]
“Talk about sparing words,” Xie Zhifei said with a laugh, closing the email and diving back into work.
At 10:30 p.m., Xie Zhifei left her office, exhaling heavily, her head pounding. Waiting for the elevator, she stretched tiredly.
Ding—
The elevator doors opened, and she glimpsed a figure in her peripheral vision.
The person inside seemed startled, not expecting someone to be standing there with arms outstretched, as if ready for a hug.
Xie Zhifei looked closely, her mouth slowly dropping open: “.”
The person inside narrowed their eyes: “= =”
