Chapter 4: Give You Ten Million, End the Relationship
Shu Wanning didn’t say everything, but the sisters had an understanding. Although the child looked very different from Lin Xu.
Just in case Lin Xu found out it was her child, who knew what outrageous things she might do.
Four years ago.
In Haicheng’s winter, it was pouring rain.
In a luxury apartment on the top floor of the CBD, the floor-to-ceiling windows reflected neon lights like scattered pearls.
The indoor heater made it feel like spring, and a diffuser softened the scent of aster flowers and orange-flavored pheromones.
Shu Qingyou collapsed on the leather sofa, her long hair spread out.
She wore only an open, oversized white shirt, her fair legs crossed, with red marks of different sizes on the delicate skin between her thighs.
Her face was flushed, her breathing uneven, with noticeable kiss marks on her chest. The gland on her slender neck was ravaged by Lin Xu beyond recognition.
Lin Xu, however, leaned calmly on the other side.
She wore a midnight purple silk dress, well-tailored, cinched at the waist, accentuating her fine figure.
Her fingers, still wet, felt sticky.
She leaned forward, grabbed Shu Qingyou’s chin, and forced her to look up.
Shu Qingyou’s clear, watery eyes shimmered, making her look pitiful.
Lin Xu hated seeing Shu Qingyou’s red-rimmed eyes in front of her. Wasn’t the money she gave enough? Lin Xu felt irritated.
She said harshly, “This is the last time. I won’t repeat myself. I’m tired of this sugar-daddy game.”
Even with Lin Xu’s bad attitude, Shu Qingyou, deeply marked by her, depended on her completely, body and soul.
Shu Qingyou didn’t respond. She just pressed her lips to the back of her hand.
She bit her lower lip, swallowing her sobs.
Her trembling shoulders and chest gave her away. Lin Xu’s sharp eyes showed no trace of her usual good mood.
She grew even more impatient, fed up with Shu Qingyou acting like a victim.
“What, are you mute now?”
A faint sound of sorrow escaped Shu Qingyou’s mouth, her voice as soft as a mosquito’s hum.
“We’ve already…”
Lin Xu raised an eyebrow lightly.
“Already what? Deeply marked? So what? Just wash it off.”
“As for liking you, I just don’t hate your pheromones, and…”
Lin Xu roughly yanked Shu Qingyou’s arm. Her skin was soft and thin.
After an unpleasant sexual encounter, with her gland bitten back and forth by Lin Xu without mercy, Shu Qingyou had no strength to resist.
Pulling up her sleeve, shocking bl00d marks on her arm caught Lin Xu’s eye.
“You thought I wouldn’t notice? Using your favorite piece of work, so pretentious. Who are you putting on this act for? You don’t really think I like you as a person, do you?”
Shu Qingyou’s eyes were wet, tears hovering in her pupils, ready to fall but not quite.
She silently hid her hand behind her back.
“…Lin Xu, don’t be like this.”
Lin Xu shook off her clinging arm with disgust, her eyes cold.
“Stay away from me. All I asked was for you to drink with some clients and sisters, but you kept refusing. Still living in your pampered princess dream?”
Shu Qingyou’s eyes dimmed. She no longer cared about being a princess. Looking back, it felt like someone else’s life.
The people or things she cared about—Lin Xu never understood, nor showed any interest. She didn’t care about her at all.
This time, it wasn’t a joke.
Who would hurt themselves for no reason?
Shu Qingyou clenched her fingers, nails digging into her skin.
Lin Xu took her to social events, made her drink for her, and every time, she drank until she vomited.
Lin Xu didn’t care, and when Shu Qingyou was at her worst, Lin Xu cruelly violated both her glands.
For a year, she lost count of how many times she was treated this way.
An Omega without suppressants couldn’t resist an Alpha, especially when she was kept.
When Lin Xu first kept her, she hid it well. Though Shu Qingyou was five years older than Lin Xu, her mind wasn’t as cunning, and she hadn’t experienced much of the ways of the world or love.
Growing up protected by her mother and grandmother, even starting a business required little effort.
But when her mother died in a car accident and her grandmother fell gravely ill from the shock, never recovering.
The expensive medical bills bent even the strongest spine.
In such a desperate situation, anyone would cling to a lifeline.
She naively thought that by giving her body and soul, Lin Xu would at least see her differently.
But in the end, it was all a fleeting illusion.
In the end, Lin Xu helped her in her moment of need, saving her from falling into a brothel. As a sugar mommy, she was generous enough.
Besides, taking money to do things for her sugar mommy was fair.
As for the child…
Shu Qingyou’s gaze unconsciously drifted to her abdomen.
Lin Xu sharply caught her subtle movement, her pupils narrowing.
How could that be? She didn’t remember ever being that close with her.
She mocked, “Don’t tell me you’re pregnant with my child and planning some trick to climb up by being a mother. I’m only 20, just 20, and you want me to be a mom? That’s hilarious.”
Lin Xu paused, thinking back. She hadn’t been that close with Shu Qingyou, right?
Her tone grew panicked. “I’m warning you, don’t get any funny ideas. Get out of here within a week.”
After a long silence, the dark night was torn apart by golden, snake-like lightning.
Shu Qingyou’s eyes were lifeless. She moved her lips, her voice hoarse.
“Fine, I’ll leave.”
A pen scratched on paper. Seconds later, Lin Xu stuffed a check into her hand.
“Don’t slander me as heartless. This is a ten-million check, enough for half your life.”
Shu Wanning felt frustrated with Shu Qingyou, like iron failing to become steel.
She kept urging her not to keep the child, but Shu Qingyou was like she was possessed, determined to give birth.
The only relief was that the child’s personality and looks were like her mother’s, completely different from the awful Alpha, Lin Xu.
It was like keeping the daughter and discarding the mother.
“Sis, what’s going on?”
Thinking of this, Shu Qingyou’s tone was flat.
“It doesn’t matter. Even if she knows, so what? She’d avoid it like the plague.”
Meanwhile, Lin Xu sneezed. She was fine earlier, and it wasn’t cold.
She looked at the sky—clear and calm.
Recalling the earlier confrontation, Shu Qingyou’s sister clearly disliked her, probably because of the original her.
When she stormed out in a huff, she realized she had no money or phone.
Going back would be humiliating. Shamelessly asking Shu Qingyou for money?
She realized she was a contradictory person. Facing her heart meant going back to deal with the awkward situation.
This village ecosystem was unfriendly to her. She even almost got lost.
Passing by Shu Qingyou’s neighbors, she heard their whispers.
“They moved here just six months ago, and look at this mess.”
“Two Alphas fighting over one Omega, tsk, so shameless.”
A few women sat on bamboo chairs and long benches, fruit shells scattered on the ground.
They must have seen her fighting. Their gossiping irritated her.
What a loose woman, sneaking around…
Lin Xu clenched her fists, biting her back teeth.
Geographically, these people were likely Shu Qingyou’s neighbors.
She could ignore them, but when she turned her back, the voices came again.
She couldn’t stand it.
Lin Xu rushed forward in one swift step, her aura so fierce that the women froze in shock.
She didn’t hold back, stopping a meter away.
Seeing her aggressive approach, they hadn’t recovered from the shock.
One woman, likely the leader, glared with wide eyes, her neck stiff, pointing at Lin Xu.
“What are you doing? Let me tell you, we live in a lawful society. Don’t you dare get physical.”
Lin Xu’s expression was harsh, her tone just as bad.
“You should be ashamed. All of you, at your age, doing nothing better than sitting at your doorstep gossiping. If you want to gossip, pick your target carefully. Do you think it’s fun? You’re just jealous because you lack something, so you love talking behind her back. Envious that people are fighting over her, right?”
The gossiping women’s faces turned red, then white.
Lin Xu wasn’t done with them.
“So your family lives aren’t happy, and you’re unbalanced, so you gossip about others all day. Curious about my relationship with her? Why don’t you peek through her window to satisfy your twisted minds?”
They never expected this Alpha to be so sharp-tongued and bold, leaving them speechless.
Losing face in front of a younger person was embarrassing.
One woman, with yellowed teeth and a worn gray jacket on her plump body, spoke up.
“What’s with this Alpha acting all tough? Do we know you? Do you know who we’re talking about? Mind your own business, meddling like a cat catching a mouse, pfft!”
Lin Xu’s anger reached its peak. She glared at the woman. They were Betas, with no pheromones.
The overwhelming pressure of a top-tier Alpha could overpower ordinary people.
Even Betas felt heavy pressure, their legs weakening.
If they weren’t sitting, they’d have fallen.
Lin Xu wasn’t one to back down, especially after being provoked by Shu Qingyou’s sister.
Her emotions were unstable. She kicked over their fruit tray with a loud clatter.
Her eyes darkened. “Who are we talking about? Do I need to spell it out?”
The women exchanged glances, silenced, their faces grim.
Once a top-tier Alpha’s pheromones emerged, they backed off, not daring to provoke her.
Their upbringing taught them that top-tier Alphas came from wealthy families with superior genes.
What if she was someone powerful?
These cunning women, even at a disadvantage, quickly put on fake smiles.
“Oh, young lady, don’t get so mad. We were just joking. Besides, we’re just stating facts. When she moved here, she wasn’t friendly to us either. She didn’t even respond when we greeted her.”
Lin Xu couldn’t relate to this Beta woman’s words. Her mind was only on Shu Qingyou.
Every word felt like a waste. Having taught them a lesson, there was no need to keep targeting them. With an air of superiority, she strode off with long steps.
She spent about ten minutes checking the area. A stream ran through the village from north to south, with constant sounds of chickens and dogs.
It was almost dinnertime, and faint smoke rose from chimneys. Out of place, her stomach growled.
But she really had no money.
Maybe she should go back and face her family. Even without memories, she could pretend, and surely her relatives wouldn’t let her starve.
But leaving like this—wouldn’t Shu Qingyou be even more upset with her?
Two thoughts battled in her mind, leaving her restless.
Unknowingly, she reached a corner leading to the main road. A few kids sat at their doorstep eating from bowls, curiously watching her.
Lin Xu felt a bit embarrassed. Suddenly, a low rumble came from the road ahead.
