When he finished listening to the entire story, it was my brother who first showed his anger. It was rare for my usually calm brother to become so furious.

In contrast, my mother gently held my hand and quietly stayed close to me. With her warm hand that brought comfort just by touching it, she held me tightly.

Saying that, my father furrowed his brow. It was a complex expression, a mix of anger and frustration.

“It must have been tough for you. Would it be better for you to rest at the mansion for a while?”

My mother’s worried gaze tightens around my chest. I forced a smile as best as I could. I feel anger, but this emotion is directed towards my ex-fiancé.

“It’s okay, Mother. It was indeed shocking, but I’m calm now.”

In truth, I was aware deep down that I was carrying a profound wound, but I desperately tried to cover it up so as not to worry my father or brother.

How foolish I was, trying to love Prince Alfred with all my heart. After being treated like this, I can never trust him again.
