Chapter 16: Can You Measure Size Like That Too?!
How long had it been since Ji Shiyi slept so deeply?
When Ji Shiyi opened her eyes, she felt her body was like a battery drained for years. After a thorough recharge, it finally returned to a normal, stable state.
Her nerves relaxed, no longer twitching with faint pain from time to time. The weak buzzing that always lingered in her ears vanished. Her whole body felt like it sank into a bed made of clouds, comfortable and cozy, completely enveloped in gentle warmth.
All the exhaustion in her body melted away. Nothing heavy remained, only a lightness throughout her, and her mood lifted along with it.
She turned her head to look.
The girl who helped her so much in this matter lay sprawled at the edge of the sofa, probably asleep, her eyes tightly closed. Ji Shiyi didn’t know what she dreamed about, but her brows furrowed slightly.
A thin blanket from the bedroom covered Ji Shiyi’s body, while a loosely draped blanket hung over the girl’s.
Ji Shiyi sat up, careful not to disturb her. She pulled the thin blanket over the girl, tucking it around her, and slid a pillow under her neck.
“Shiyi,” Ji Shiyi called.
As soon as the words left her mouth, a small cat appeared out of thin air on the table in front of her.
Shiyi licked its paws contentedly, glancing up at Ji Shiyi. It prepared to meow but Ji Shiyi quickly covered its mouth.
“Don’t make noise,” she said softly.
Shiyi blinked, then boredly bit its own tail.
“What did you call me out for?” it asked in Ji Shiyi’s mind, communicating with her.
“Nothing,” Ji Shiyi said. “I just checked the treatment’s effect.”
The result was obvious.
Ji Shiyi turned to look at the girl still deep in sleep, feeling even more satisfied with her.
“I have work. I need to leave first,” Ji Shiyi said to Shiyi.
Shiyi instantly grew alert, its fur standing on end, its body arching into a small bridge. “No, no! I don’t want to go to work with you!”
It threw a tantrum.
“I want to stay! I want to stay! You absorbed enough yesterday! I barely got any! You’re so unfair!”
Ji Shiyi warned her, “Don’t cause trouble. You know I can recall you anytime now, right?”
Shiyi whimpered, “Whine.”
Unwillingly, it continued its tantrum, even planning to wake Shu Yue to let her judge the situation.
Ji Shiyi couldn’t stand it.
“Do as you like,” she said. “But don’t wake her.”
Shiyi took this to heart.
Very obediently.
Before Shu Yue woke, it stayed by her side, its liquid-like body slipping into the space between her folded abdomen and thighs as she sat. It burrowed in, circling a few times to find the most comfortable position. With a squint of its cat eyes, it nestled obediently into the blanket covering Shu Yue.
When Shu Yue woke, she felt a ball of fire burning near her stomach, like a freshly baked piece of charcoal, sizzling and moving.
A bit scared, she quickly looked down.
When she saw Shiyi, her eyes widened.
“Shiyi?!”
Shu Yue really didn’t expect this.
“Why are you here?”
Shiyi let out a long, throaty meow, rubbing its head into Shu Yue’s palm, looking eager for pets.
Still groggy from waking, Shu Yue instinctively reached out and ruffled its head.
As the silky texture became clearer, she suddenly pulled her hand back.
She couldn’t touch it.
No touching, no touching.
The chaotic scene from last night, when the cat’s tail appeared, flooded Shu Yue’s mind.
She looked around, trying to find Ji Shiyi, ready to apologize. She really didn’t mean to touch the cat.
Her gaze swept the room, but she saw no sign of anyone.
On the coffee table, though, something new appeared.
A bank card sat on the surface.
Her phone and miscellaneous small items were neatly arranged by Ji Shiyi, all placed together.
Shu Yue reached up and touched her neck.
Belatedly, she realized the collar was gone, removed by Ji Shiyi at some point.
[Awake?]
Her phone screen lit up with a new message.
Shu Yue picked it up and opened the details.
It was from Ji Shiyi.
How did this woman time things so perfectly?
Sy: Yes, Miss Ji, I’m awake.
Sy: Sorry, I overslept.
Sy: Have you left?
He: Hmm.
He: I have work.
Sy: Okay.
After sending these polite, honest two words, Shu Yue stared at her phone, unsure what to say next.
This feeling was so strange.
Last night, their bodies were so close, but now, upon waking, they felt so distant.
She took a photo of the bank card on the coffee table.
Sy: [Picture]
Sy: Miss Ji, you forgot your thing.
Sy: Should I leave it here for you?
He: I didn’t forget.
Ji Shiyi replied.
He: It’s for you.
He: The password is your birthday.
Shu Yue instantly thought of the blank check Ji Shiyi handed her that day.
She hurriedly explained.
Sy: Miss Ji, I already received the fostering fee for Shiyi, so you don’t need to give me any other fees.
He: The cat is the cat, and I am me. I can still keep that straight.
He: If you don’t want it, just throw it away.
Shu Yue stared at the screen, watching the “typing” indicator flash for a while before going still.
He: [Voice*34s]
Shu Yue clicked it.
The woman’s voice was calm, completely different from last night’s loss of control.
“Also, my condition is much better. Thank you for your help. I originally planned to take Shiyi with me, but no matter what, it wants to stay, so I might need you to look after it for a while longer. The fostering fee is the same, and I’ve included it in the card.”
Shu Yue stared at the card, then at the cat.
A new voice message popped up.
“The food at this hotel is good. Miss Shu, you can eat before you leave. By the way, I checked the bathroom. The underwear you washed isn’t dry yet, so I ordered delivery, bought new ones, and had them washed and dried. They’re at the door.”
“…”
After hearing the new voice message, Shu Yue’s entire body burned like a tomato. Ji Shiyi’s tone was too calm and composed, like she was talking about the weather, but that only made Shu Yue feel more embarrassed.
Aaaah!
So humiliating!!
Last night, after helping Ji Shiyi clean up, Shu Yue got tangled in the cat’s tail. With no other choice, she stayed.
She tried to loosen the tail wrapped tightly around her, but the moment her other hand touched it, the sleeping woman’s body trembled.
The round, pointed tip of the tail wiggled excitedly, pressing even closer to her fingertips, growing bolder.
The spot that had just been cleaned, like a small flower, glistened with moisture again.
The omega pheromones, which had finally calmed, surged once more.
Shu Yue nearly shocked herself unconscious.
The moment she hated being an alpha the most arrived.
The clash between instinct and reason was truly frustrating.
With no other option, she resorted to a delaying tactic, tending to the tail first. She released pheromones, wrapping them thickly around it, while stroking the tail from tip to base. To avoid rudely watching Ji Shiyi’s reaction, Shu Yue kept her head turned and eyes closed.
But she couldn’t block out the sounds.
Shu Yue’s whole body grew hot, her face flushed red.
She didn’t know how long she stroked it, but the tail finally swayed contentedly and released her hand.
Shu Yue tried to leave, but the tail seemed to sense it and wrapped around her again.
She had to negotiate with the tail.
She said she’d take a quick shower and come right back.
It sounded crazy, but the tail understood.
Shu Yue felt sticky all over and took a shower. She didn’t want to wear her clammy underwear, so she hand-washed it, hung it in the bathroom, and turned on the warm air mode, hoping it would dry quickly.
She sat back by the sofa, planning to rest her eyes for a bit until the underwear was nearly dry.
But then.
But then—
Ji Shiyi wouldn’t think she was a pervert, right?
Going commando in someone else’s hotel room.
Shu Yue wrapped herself in her robe and tiptoed to the door. Shiyi followed, occasionally pawing at the dangling belt of her bathrobe or biting its edge.
After repeatedly checking through the peephole to ensure no one was outside, Shu Yue opened the door and picked up the pink bag at the doorstep.
A string of English was printed on the bag.
She closed the door and peeked inside. A set of underwear lay there, delicately packaged. She opened it to find a milky baby blue color with tiny floral patterns.
Completely different from the plain black, white, or gray she usually wore.
Shu Yue braced herself and slipped into the bathroom to change.
It was comfortable.
Much better than wearing nothing.
Wearing nothing, even if she was alone, felt unsafe.
After thinking it over, Shu Yue decided she should thank Ji Shiyi.
Sy: Miss Ji, I got the stuff. Thank you.
He: Does the size fit?
Sy: It fits perfectly. Thank you.
A question suddenly popped into Shu Yue’s mind. Before she could think it through, her fingers acted faster than her brain, typing it out.
Sy: But, Miss Ji, how did you know my size?
Ji Shiyi didn’t reply.
Shu Yue didn’t think much of it.
She packed her things, changed into her clothes, slung on her backpack, and stuffed Shiyi into the delivery bag that held the underwear.
Carrying the cat out of the hotel, Shu Yue pulled out her phone to call a ride.
A reply from Ji Shiyi popped up on the screen.
[Hmm? What do you think?]
In broad daylight, Shu Yue stood at the hotel entrance, facing the flow of people and cars, seriously pondering the meaning of Ji Shiyi’s words.
She racked her brain for a long time until it suddenly hit her.
Last night, the woman pressed against her body, one hand covering her eyes, the other hand resting there…
Aaaah!
Can you measure size like that too?!
