Chapter 29 What About You? Do You Want to Mark Me?
In the hotel room with a natural wooden style, two figures closely leaned against each other.
The pheromones of alpha and omega continuously mixed and blended in the space. Endless snow melted, fir trees sprouted new buds, and small grasses, originally hidden beneath the ground, kept pushing upward, like vines, wrapping around everything.
“Hmm—”
Ji Shiyi slightly frowned.
Shu Yue paused her fingertips.
“Does it hurt?”
Ji Shiyi shook her head: “Don’t touch there, move up a bit.”
Shu Yue followed her instruction.
“Feeling uncomfortable?”
“It’s fine.” Ji Shiyi said while kissing her forehead, “This is good.”
But Shu Yue could tell that Ji Shiyi wasn’t really okay like this.
Returning Ji Shiyi’s kiss, Shu Yue found a moment to touch the skin near Ji Shiyi’s gland with her fingertips and asked: “Do you need marking today?”
Ji Shiyi’s body trembled slightly, and the leg resting on her moved closer.
She held Shu Yue’s face, looking at her lips, moist from kissing, and her clean eyes, now tinged with desire after removing her glasses. Sweat beaded on her forehead, making her look very different.
This person seemed like someone she had dirtied.
Ji Shiyi asked: “What about you? Do you want to mark me?”
Shu Yue didn’t speak, her face suddenly flushed, and the pheromones in the air felt like they might explode.
She didn’t know how long she had held back from biting Ji Shiyi’s gland.
Ji Shiyi could tell, but she deliberately wanted Shu Yue to say it herself.
Her thumb rubbed Shu Yue’s lips, and Ji Shiyi asked again: “Do you want to? Why aren’t you speaking?”
“Uh—”
Instead of words, Shu Yue’s response was to suddenly lean toward Ji Shiyi’s neck, leaving a wet mark there.
It was the trace of her tongue.
Ji Shiyi wanted to say something, but Shu Yue sucked on the thin skin near her gland, holding it in her mouth, playing with it like eating a cherry, unable to spit out the tiny pit because it was part of Ji Shiyi’s body.
Ji Shiyi’s body tensed, her toes curled, and the hand that had been teasing Shu Yue gripped her shoulder tightly, her waist twisting.
Ji Shiyi’s expression changed instantly.
This person claimed she didn’t know how.
Wasn’t she quite skilled?
Messing with her gland, tormenting her, yet never giving enough, like scratching through a boot— was this talent or intentional?
She came to Shu Yue to solve a problem, not create one.
She pushed Shu Yue’s hand away.
Shu Yue stopped, confused, thinking she had hurt Ji Shiyi again. Looking down, she realized what had happened.
The woman’s soft gasps, the movements between her legs, and the intense, irresistible omega pheromones.
Shu Yue lowered her head to Ji Shiyi’s neck, pleading.
“Miss Ji…”
Ji Shiyi was enjoying herself and ignored her, only glancing at her.
Shu Yue didn’t understand the meaning but continued exploring, gently nibbling Ji Shiyi’s gland.
Her teeth didn’t pierce, just bit lightly around it.
Their pheromones were like two flexible lines, entwining, growing tighter.
After some time, Ji Shiyi suddenly grabbed Shu Yue’s hair, pressing her head toward her neck.
Shu Yue understood the signal and, without hesitation, extended her long-restrained teeth, piercing Ji Shiyi’s gland.
Ji Shiyi’s body tensed like a bowstring, then relaxed instantly, her pheromones slowly calming.
She pushed Shu Yue.
Shu Yue, still biting her gland, didn’t let go. The alpha pheromones continued to inject.
Ji Shiyi instinctively wanted to cry out but raised her hand to cover her lips.
After the alpha pheromones fully injected, Shu Yue’s tense muscles relaxed, and she moved back.
The boiling water finally found an outlet to release.
Ji Shiyi turned her head, looking at the girl lying beside her, staring at the ceiling in a daze after everything.
She raised an eyebrow, swiftly flipping over to pin her down.
Shu Yue was startled: “Miss Ji—”
Ji Shiyi’s eyes gleamed with the thrill of settling scores: “Was that fun just now?”
Shu Yue blushed: “I-I-I-I—”
She didn’t know what came over her; maybe it was the alpha’s base instincts acting up.
“Uh—!”
Ji Shiyi’s knee pressed against her.
“Was it fun?” Ji Shiyi asked.
Shu Yue shook her head repeatedly: “Not fun, not fun.”
Ji Shiyi didn’t let her off: “Will you do it again next time?”
Shu Yue kept shaking her head: “No, no.”
But she was too honest, so honest she couldn’t help saying: “But Miss Ji, you clearly enjoyed it too.”
Ji Shiyi’s fingertips toyed with the tie of her bathrobe.
“It wasn’t bad,” Ji Shiyi said frankly, “So I think I need to let you experience this feeling too.”
Shu Yue instinctively wanted to flee, but Ji Shiyi pinned her down.
“Reciprocity,” Ji Shiyi’s eyes sparkled, “Miss Shu, rest assured, I understand this principle well.”
*
Shu Yue woke up to a cat licking her.
The soft, prickly tongue of the kitten tirelessly licked her forehead, over and over, even grooming her hair, leaving her scalp sticky.
Shu Yue opened her eyes and saw the cat’s odd posture, curled into a C-shape, hugging her head.
“Alright, alright.” She reached out to pull Shiyi into her arms, “Stop licking, you’ll make me bald.”
Shiyi meowed reluctantly.
Shu Yue pretended not to hear, holding it in her embrace, looking around. The room was empty, with lingering omega pheromones. Her neatly folded bathrobe and undergarments on the chair across from the bed, the bite marks on her body, and the cleaned, dry feeling all told her what had happened not long ago.
So embarrassing.
Shu Yue rolled over, burying her face in the blankets. Shiyi, in her arms, struggled to push its cat head out of the covers to breathe fresh air.
Shu Yue muffled her silent screams under the blanket for a while, then dragged herself up, reached for her glasses on the bedside table, put them on, and climbed out of bed.
She put on her undergarments, slipped into slippers, and walked out of the bedroom.
Opening the door, she met Ji Shiyi’s eyes, who stood by the open kitchen counter.
Shu Yue: “…”
Ji Shiyi’s expression didn’t change: “Awake?”
Shu Yue slammed the door shut.
She turned to stare at Shiyi, who had followed her to her feet.
“Didn’t she leave?” Shu Yue asked.
Shiyi meowed, dragging out the sound.
Shu Yue quickly put on her outer clothes, mentally prepared herself for a while, then opened the door again and walked out.
“Miss Ji,” Shu Yue called out weakly.
Ji Shiyi poured warm water into a freshly washed cup: “Come drink some.”
Shu Yue walked over, holding the cup, her eyes occasionally glancing at Ji Shiyi’s face.
Ji Shiyi: “Ask whatever you want.”
Shu Yue hesitated but finally asked: “Yesterday…”
Ji Shiyi corrected her: “It’s ten at night now, strictly speaking, not yesterday, just a few hours ago.”
Shu Yue let out an “oh” and rephrased: “A few hours ago, how did I fall asleep?”
Her only memory was Ji Shiyi settling scores with her, her own refusal to back down, and then tussling with Ji Shiyi again.
After that—
Shu Yue had no recollection.
“You said you were sleepy,” Ji Shiyi looked at her, explaining, “Rest a bit, then continue.”
Shu Yue’s head nearly buried itself in the floor. If there were sand here, she’d have buried her head like an ostrich without hesitation.
“Want dinner?” Ji Shiyi asked, “I had the kitchen prepare some food; it’ll be delivered soon.”
Shu Yue glanced at the living room clock and shook her head: “No need, Miss Ji, I’ll head back first.”
Eating dinner before leaving would make it eleven or midnight.
With it so late, Shu Yue didn’t dare ride her electric scooter.
Ji Shiyi didn’t insist, only saying the food was already ordered, so she should at least take some to go.
Half an hour later, Shu Yue carried the hotel’s insulated food bag, slowly heading back to her place.
After parking the scooter in the yard, Shu Yue first checked on the crested ibis in its shed, confirmed it was doing well, then returned to the scooter, picked up the food bag, and headed to her small building.
“Finally decided to come back?”
A faint voice sounded from behind.
Shu Yue froze, turning around: “Senior Sister.”
Lin Chu smiled, holding a flashlight, swinging it as she spoke: “I wondered who was in the yard so late, turns out it’s you, Junior Sister.”
Shu Yue: “…”
The flashlight beam landed on the bag Shu Yue held: “What good food did you bring? Let me try some.”
Since Lin Chu asked, Shu Yue invited her inside, setting out the packed dishes on the simple table.
Lin Chu clicked her tongue: “This looks familiar.”
“Went to see your Miss Ji?”
Shu Yue sighed: “You already know, why ask me again?”
She saw Lin Chu’s text but didn’t know how to reply, so she pretended not to see it. She didn’t expect Lin Chu to catch her now, with no escape, so she just admitted the truth.
Lin Chu’s eyes sparkled: “I knew it, something’s definitely off between you two.”
“From the moment she came to the village, you two were stuck together. Today, you even went to her and stayed the whole afternoon.”
“Little Yue, be honest, what’s your relationship with her?”
Shu Yue poked the rice noodles in front of her with chopsticks: “Nothing.”
Lin Chu didn’t buy it.
“Nothing, and you’re gone all afternoon? If you’re dating, just say it, Little Yue. Our sect doesn’t forbid relationships.”
Shu Yue quickly denied: “Really, nothing, Senior Sister. Miss Ji and I aren’t like that.”
Lin Chu wanted to say more, but suddenly… ding, Shu Yue’s phone chimed with a text.
Shu Yue picked it up.
It was from Ji Shiyi.
「Are you home?」
Shu Yue put down her chopsticks and replied.
Sy: Got home.
He: Good to know.
He: Remember to eat.
Shu Yue took a photo of the table with her phone.
Sy: Eating now.
Sy: Thanks, Miss Ji.
He: You’re welcome.
He: [Picture]
He: I’m eating too.
Shu Yue didn’t know what to reply, so she decided not to for now.
She put down the phone and focused on eating.
A while later, a new message popped up.
He: When are you free the next two days? I’ll come find you and return your book.
Shu Yue thought for a moment and asked Lin Chu: “Senior Sister, does the professor have any plans for tomorrow?”
Lin Chu, gnawing on a chicken leg, tore off a big piece with her teeth and shook her head: “No plans, just routine work, the usual. Why? Got something going on?”
Shu Yue said: “Not really. Miss Ji asked when I’m free; she’s coming to return my book.”
Lin Chu clicked her tongue again.
“Little Yue,” Lin Chu said earnestly, “If this Miss Ji isn’t into you, I’ll chop off my head and let you kick it like a ball.”
Shu Yue: “Do you have to think like that, Senior Sister? Can’t she just want to return the book?”
Lin Chu, exasperated, said: “Someone of her status can get any book she wants. Why borrow yours? Borrowing and returning creates interaction, doesn’t it? Come on, get a clue! Don’t be so dense!”
Shu Yue shook her head: “It’s impossible.”
“Why’s it impossible?” Lin Chu asked.
Shu Yue’s mind flashed to Ji Shiyi’s face, and she said softly: “It just is.”
Lin Chu gave her a meaningful look: “Fine, it’s your business, you decide. I won’t ask anymore, but if you need a strategist or someone to talk to, I’m here.”
Shu Yue felt grateful: “Thanks, Senior Sister.”
After a pause, she added: “But, Senior Sister, haven’t you never dated?”
Lin Chu: “…”
“Never eaten pork, but I’ve seen pigs run,” Lin Chu defended herself, “What do you know? Only a wise one like me, who stays out of love, can see through all these twists and turns.”
Shu Yue couldn’t argue with Lin Chu and decided to focus on eating.
After dinner, Lin Chu and Shu Yue cleaned the table together.
“Give it to me, I’ll toss it out,” Lin Chu said, pointing to the trash Shu Yue held.
Shu Yue didn’t argue and let Lin Chu take it.
Once she left, the house fell quiet.
Shu Yue went upstairs to wash up. In the bathroom, after taking off her clothes, she saw the marks hidden under her short-sleeved shirt, and her mind flashed to the wild afternoon spent with Ji Shiyi in the hotel.
The woman’s voice, speaking close to her neck, echoed in her ears again.
“Like it?” Asked with patience.
“Fun?” This one carried a hint of settling scores.
“It hurts…” This was what Shu Yue said, unable to hold back when she bit Ji Shiyi’s gland again, asking her to be gentler, yet her legs wrapped tighter around her hand.
Shu Yue shook her head, forcing herself to stop these memories.
It’s all work.
Shu Yue told herself.
This is all work.
Lin Chu said those things because she didn’t know about the secret deal between her and Ji Shiyi.
Shu Yue knew clearly that this all started because her pheromones happened to be useful to Ji Shiyi. If someone else had the same pheromones, it would still happen. Just not with her.
After showering and crawling into bed, Shu Yue closed her eyes for a while, then suddenly opened them, reaching for her phone on the bedside table.
Sure enough.
Distracted by Lin Chu, she forgot to reply to Ji Shiyi’s message.
With the light on, she thought for a moment and typed.
Sy: Forgot to reply earlier.
Sy: Miss Ji, I’m free after ten in the morning and in the afternoons tomorrow and the day after. You can come find me anytime.
「ok」
Ji Shiyi replied.
Ji Shiyi came to return the book the afternoon of the day after.
Shu Yue was in the shed, playing with the crested ibis.
Its condition was much better than when it first arrived at the house. It recognized Shu Yue instantly, remembered her, and was especially close to her.
Lin Chu watched enviously from the side.
“Jealous, so jealous,” Lin Chu said sourly, “Some people weren’t here that afternoon, and who was it diligently playing with it, feeding it, changing its medicine? And now, you’re back, and this bird forgets all about me.”
Shu Yue laughed and cried: “Senior Sister, don’t say that. I think Little Six still likes you a lot.”
They found this subadult crested ibis on a Saturday, so everyone agreed to name it Little Six, calling it that privately.
“Little what Six?” Lin Chu huffed, “More like Old Six, if you ask me.”
“Little Yue, someone’s looking for you,” Second Senior Brother’s voice came from outside the shed.
Shu Yue handed the small branch to Lin Chu, signaling her to take over as Little Six’s playmate. Lin Chu grumbled but smiled brightly when Little Six approached, completely smitten.
Such a bird slave.
Stepping out of the shed, Shu Yue froze.
Ji Shiyi saw her come out and nodded. The female alpha beside her also looked over. Shu Yue remembered her as the person who appeared at Ji Shiyi’s hotel door that day.
Zhou Miao was there too, introducing.
“Little Yue, this is Fu Xitang, Captain Fu. She’s temporarily taking over Little Six’s case and will stay here for a while, helping ensure Little Six’s safety.”
Zhou Miao added: “This is Shu Yue, my student. She and Miss Ji found Little Six.”
Fu Xitang hummed and extended her hand to Shu Yue: “Hello, Student Shu.”
Shu Yue couldn’t shake hands: “Sorry, Captain Fu, my hands are covered in mud.”
Fu Xitang withdrew her hand: “No problem.”
“Teacher Zhou, where am I staying?” Fu Xitang asked.
Zhou Miao said: “There’s a room on the same floor as me and Lin Chu. I’ll show you.”
Fu Xitang: “Thanks.”
She picked up her luggage backpack and followed Zhou Miao’s pace.
Shu Yue noticed her long legs, one step equaling two of hers. Her arms, exposed under short sleeves, were muscular, the lines more defined when carrying the bag. Looking at her own arms, they were like plain boiled chicken. Always reading, never lifting weights— this was the result.
Somehow, Shu Yue thought of that afternoon when she fell asleep from exhaustion.
…
…
Fu Xitang didn’t seem like someone who’d fall asleep midway.
“What are you thinking?” Ji Shiyi’s voice snapped her wandering attention back.
Shu Yue brushed off her thoughts: “Nothing.”
“Here, your book,” Ji Shiyi took the book she borrowed from Shu Yue out of her bag, “Thanks for the recommendation. It was really good.”
“Really?”
Ji Shiyi smiled: “Of course. After reading it, I even wanted to buy a fish tank at home, like the author said, to build a simple minimal ecosystem and observe the fish and plants’ reactions.”
“That sounds fun,” Shu Yue hugged the book, smiling, “Miss Ji, you should try it.”
Shu Yue noticed something.
“Miss Ji, where’s Shiyi? Didn’t it come today?”
Ji Shiyi said: “There’s someone it doesn’t like here today, so it didn’t want to come out. If you want to see it, I can let it out now.”
Shu Yue was puzzled: “Someone it doesn’t like?”
Ji Shiyi tilted her chin toward the second floor: “Her, Fu Xitang.”
“Why doesn’t Shiyi like her?” Shu Yue asked curiously.
Though Shiyi didn’t seem to like others much, refusing to come out of Ji Shiyi’s mental sea because of Fu Xitang was rare.
Ji Shiyi said casually: “Who knows? Maybe because nothing good happens when Fu Xitang shows up.”
“I returned your book and brought the person over, so I won’t disturb you anymore,” Ji Shiyi said, “Shu Yue, go do your work.”
It wasn’t that busy, Shu Yue thought. But she didn’t say anything or have a reason to ask Ji Shiyi to stay. She nodded, ready to see Ji Shiyi off.
Just then, Zhou Miao came down after showing Fu Xitang her room and saw Ji Shiyi leaving: “Since you’re here, Miss Ji, if you have time, why not come with us to the village elementary school later? The books you donated just arrived, and the principal wants to thank you in person.”
“I’m just the one who paid. The people who manage the school and care for the kids deserve more thanks; they put in far more effort,” Ji Shiyi said to Zhou Miao, “No need for thanks, but if you don’t mind, I’d like to visit.”
Zhou Miao: “What’s to mind? Let’s go together!”
She made arrangements: “Little Yue, take Miss Ji to your place to rest for a bit. I’ll tidy up, and we’ll head out.”
A teacher’s order was hard to disobey.
Shu Yue led Ji Shiyi inside.
Once the door closed, Shiyi appeared out of nowhere, eagerly pawing at Shu Yue’s pant leg, begging for a hug.
Shu Yue bent down and picked her up.
Shiyi contentedly buried its entire cat face in Shu Yue’s chest, even pressing its paw pads against nearby skin a couple of times.
Shu Yue gasped.
Ji Shiyi immediately grabbed Shiyi by the scruff, lifting it up, looked at Shu Yue, hesitated, and took a small bottle from her bag.
“Ointment,” Ji Shiyi said, “You can apply it when you’re free.”
Shu Yue took it, her cheeks slightly red: “Okay, thanks, Miss Ji.”
Ji Shiyi pursed her lips and added: “Still hurt? I bit too hard that day.”
Shu Yue instinctively replied: “It’s fine, Miss Ji. I didn’t exactly go easy either.”
Ji Shiyi chuckled lightly: “True, I told you to let go, and you wouldn’t.”
“You don’t seem like it normally, but in bed, Miss Shu’s mouth is pretty sharp.”
Aaaah—!
The kettle in Shu Yue’s mind boiled over again.
She quickly apologized: “Sorry, Miss Ji, I won’t do that next time.”
Ji Shiyi put the cat back in her arms, calmly saying: “What’s the big deal?”
“People have all sorts of preferences. No need to apologize or feel ashamed.”
Ji Shiyi’s gaze landed on a patch of red at the collar of Shu Yue’s short-sleeved shirt, where a small, subtle mole sat near her collarbone. Ji Shiyi inexplicably liked this mole and, when in the mood, loved to bite around it.
She reached out, pulling Shu Yue’s collar up slightly to cover the red mark.
Shu Yue looked up, meeting Ji Shiyi’s cool, gentle eyes.
Like an autumn breeze, not warm, but enough to ripple the lake’s surface.
“Don’t apologize again,” the woman said, ruffling Shu Yue’s hair, her voice softening, “Besides, Shu Yue, I never said I didn’t like it.”
