The Little Bookworm Marked Her Ex-aunt - Chapter 7: Can You Mark Me?
Chapter 7: Can You Mark Me?
Shu Yue never played the Queen’s Banquet game before. Strictly speaking, she never played any drinking games. This was also her first time meeting Meng Zhiyu’s friends and classmates.
Except for Meng Zhiyu, everyone else drew a knight card. At the start of each round, all knights rolled dice. The person with the lowest score chose to forfeit or accept a penalty. The round ended only when the last knight remained.
Shu Yue really couldn’t see what was fun about this game.
But everyone around her seemed extremely excited.
They were also thrilled about making others drink.
Shu Yue didn’t know how many cups she drank. When she stopped, she was the only one left with a knight card.
Meng Zhiyu sat diagonally across from her, coldly watching her.
Su Jia asked, “You won! You can make a request to the Queen!”
She said with a suggestive tone, “Anything goes.”
Shu Yue stared directly at Meng Zhiyu and said, “Meng, when you’re free someday, can we have a chat?”
Su Jia was stunned. Meng Zhiyu gave a faint, cool smirk, “That’s your request?”
Shu Yue nodded, “Is that okay?”
Meng Zhiyu said, “Fine.”
Shu Yue smiled with satisfaction.
Meng Zhiyu looked away.
“You’re leaving?” Su Jia saw her stand up.
Shu Yue hmm’ed, “My cat’s at home. I’m heading back. You guys take your time.”
Meng Zhiyu raised an eyebrow in slight surprise, looked at Shu Yue, wanted to ask something, but held back.
Shu Yue stood up unsteadily, paused for a while, then said to Meng Zhiyu, “Meng, I’ll wait for your call.”
Meng Zhiyu’s face darkened, not wanting to respond. After Shu Yue left and the KTV room door closed, Su Jia leaned over, “Zhiyu, are you satisfied?”
Meng Zhiyu didn’t understand, “Satisfied with what?”
Su Jia gave a look to someone nearby. They pulled a bottle from under the table, “I noticed you don’t like her. In that last round, we mixed some vodka into her beer. After so many cups, she’s probably feeling it.”
Meng Zhiyu’s face darkened instantly. She stood up, grabbed the glass Shu Yue drank from, sniffed it, and smashed it on the floor, “Who told you to do that?!”
Su Jia flinched, shrinking back, “Zhiyu, we’ve always done this. If there’s someone you don’t like in the group, we use this trick to get them out.”
Meng Zhiyu lowered her voice, her eyes cold, “She’s different. Don’t touch her.”
Meng Zhiyu grabbed her bag and walked out. The driver waited outside the venue and respectfully called, “Miss.”
Meng Zhiyu slammed the car door and said, “Go to Happiness Garden.”
She held back for a while but couldn’t resist calling Shu Yue.
As soon as the call connected, she snapped, “Shu Yue, are you an idiot? Couldn’t you tell they spiked your drink? Why did you keep drinking?”
“I knew,” Shu Yue’s voice sounded unclear. She mumbled, “But I didn’t want them to win.”
Meng Zhiyu cursed, “You’re such an idiot—”
“Are you calling to chat with me now?” Shu Yue asked.
Meng Zhiyu snapped, “Chat, my ass.”
She saw a girl getting out of a taxi nearby, stumbling into the neighborhood. Meng Zhiyu snorted and hung up.
“Let’s go, Aunt He,” Meng Zhiyu told the driver, “Home.”
Shu Yue also returned home.
Her little cat waited at the door.
After staring at the cat for a while, she bent down and petted its soft head. The smell of alcohol on her was too strong. Shu Yue didn’t like it. She walked while taking off her clothes, heading to the bathroom.
The bathtub filled with water. She indulged herself and sank into it.
Creak—
The door, not fully closed, opened slightly.
Shu Yue rose from holding her breath, wiped the water off her face, opened her eyes, and saw Ji Shiyi, who was supposed to be outside, standing on a small stool by the bathtub. The cat’s fur had specks of water, and it looked utterly speechless.
Shu Yue was a bit dazed. After staring for a while, she asked, “Why are you here?”
Ji Shiyi licked its paws, washing its face, staying silent and not leaving.
Shu Yue quietly sank lower into the water.
Ji Shiyi noticed her movement and meowed indifferently.
“Turn around,” Shu Yue requested.
Ji Shiyi’s eyes widened, as if saying, ‘Boss, I’m a cat.’
But Shu Yue insisted, “Turn around.”
Ji Shiyi had no choice. It licked its paws and turned away. When Shu Yue got out of the bathtub, wrapped herself in a towel, and grabbed another to dry her hair, Ji Shiyi followed her closely.
Shu Yue looked down at Ji Shiyi’s supervisor-like demeanor and asked, “Were you worried I’d drown?”
Ji Shiyi gave her an ‘obviously’ look.
Shu Yue thought she must be really drunk to read so much from a cat’s face.
She crouched down and rubbed the cat’s head, “Thanks for worrying. I’m fine.”
The cat nuzzled her palm, following her out of the bathroom to the couch, where it sprawled out like a seductive Daji.
Shu Yue hesitated, walked over, and poked the cat’s belly.
The cat immediately grabbed her hand with its paws and nibbled it.
Shu Yue didn’t feel pain. Instead, she got more excited and rubbed the cat’s belly again.
One human and one cat started a playful tussle of rubbing and nibbling.
After another nibble, Shu Yue got playful revenge. She grabbed the cat’s paw pads and bit them.
Seeing Ji Shiyi’s shocked expression, she got more enthusiastic, burying her face in the cat’s belly. Shu Yue took a deep sniff of the cat’s fur.
The cat’s paws pushed her face, but she grabbed them and bit again.
Ji Shiyi realized this drunk person was going wild and quickly escaped her grasp.
It sniffed the air, turned, and looked at the dazed girl on the couch. Maybe because she was drunk, her pheromones spilled out unrestrained, filling the entire space.
The scent was too strong, like overdosing on catnip. Ji Shiyi grew restless and started darting around the house.
Across the ocean, Ji Shiyi suddenly frowned.
In a meeting, the staff member presenting at the screen stopped, cautiously observing the woman’s expression.
Ji Shiyi’s assistant asked, “President Ji, is something unsatisfactory?”
Ji Shiyi shook her head, “Continue.”
She silently raised her hand, touched the inhibitor patch under her black hair, and adjusted it to the highest setting.
After the meeting, she walked to the car as usual.
The moment the door closed, Ji Shiyi couldn’t hold back. She tore off the inhibitor patch, letting her uncontrolled pheromones flood the small space. Gripping the steering wheel, forehead pressed against it, Ji Shiyi panted and called Yu Qianyue.
Yu Qianyue, wearing a white coat, was on duty.
About to tease when she answered, she noticed Ji Shiyi’s state, quickly instructed someone nearby, and stepped into a break room.
“What happened?”
Ji Shiyi gritted her teeth, “I want to ask you that.”
Her hands trembled as she opened the car’s glove compartment, took out an inhibitor syringe, bit off the cap, and loaded it.
Pushing her black hair aside, Ji Shiyi raised her hand and injected it into her neck without hesitation.
Pain spread through her body, like ant bites. Ji Shiyi was used to it, but today it felt unbearable. When the restlessness finally subsided, her forehead was covered in sweat, her face pale.
“Did the inhibitor you gave me expire?” she asked.
Yu Qianyue looked worried, “How could it?”
Ji Shiyi said, “Then why did I inject one this morning and still have issues just now?”
Yu Qianyue said, “Where’s the monitoring bracelet I gave you? Find it, put it on, connect to the network, and I’ll check the data.”
Ji Shiyi, looking displeased, rummaged for a while before finding the bracelet she’d tossed aside.
After putting it on, Yu Qianyue quickly responded, “The data shows you were just hit by a strong alpha pheromone stimulus.”
Ji Shiyi’s face grew cold, “Impossible.”
Yu Qianyue said, “It’s true. And it looks serious. You’d better find the other party. Whatever it takes, you need to get two whiffs of their pheromones. Otherwise, your already unstable pheromones will keep fluctuating.”
“Old Ji, don’t brush this off,” Yu Qianyue said seriously, seeing Ji Shiyi’s expression, “If you keep suppressing it, your gland will eventually fail. You don’t want to end up on my operating table, do you? You want to live a few more years, right?”
Ji Shiyi felt irritated, “I didn’t encounter any alphas just now.”
Her nose wasn’t for show. Couldn’t she smell pheromones?
“Then how’s that possible?” Yu Qianyue was confused, checking the data repeatedly, unable to figure it out, “This level of peak fluctuation means the other party’s compatibility with you is at least 90%. If they were near you, you’d definitely notice.”
Ji Shiyi suddenly thought of something, hung up with Yu Qianyue, and opened the remote monitor on her cat device.
In the dark screen, a girl slept on the couch.
She softly called, “Ji Shiyi?”
The cat restlessly ran over, yowling at the automatic feeder’s camera.
After a string of chatter, Ji Shiyi understood.
What happened to being unaffected across thousands of miles? How could she work like this? Frowning, Ji Shiyi called her assistant, changed her schedule, and booked a return ticket.
So, when Shu Yue, hungover and headachy, slept deeply and heard a knock, she rubbed her eyes and opened the door.
Opening it, she saw a stunning beauty.
The beauty wore a pheromone isolation mask, looking tired. She said politely, “Hello, first time meeting. I’m Ji Shiyi’s owner. I’m sorry for showing up suddenly. I have a request. I know it’s bold, but can you mark me?”
Shu Yue stared at her, silent for three seconds, then firmly closed the door, shutting her out.
Hmm.
She definitely hadn’t woken up yet.
