The Live-in Alpha Only Wants to Be a Quiet Salted Fish (GL) - Chapter 10
Su Mo won, decisively and predictably. No one can refuse profit, and ingrained prejudices are insignificant in the face of absolute gain.
The He family father and son were expelled. A summons awaited them. He’s father, in his efforts to pave the way for his son, had created various deficits by robbing Peter to pay Paul, and also forcibly seized his deceased wife’s shares and assets left to Su Mo under the guise of guardianship. All these actions were brought to court. Given the large sum of money embezzled, after the verdict, he likely wouldn’t see the light of day for at least ten to eight years.
Meanwhile, Su Mo, having fulfilled a long-held wish, wasn’t necessarily happy. After meticulously planning for over a decade, she found that her enemies were as vulnerable as chickens and dogs, utterly weak.
Her long-standing goal was erased, and the resulting void left Su Mo feeling bewildered, her heart adrift, unsure where it belonged now that success had been achieved.
“What’s wrong?” — poke
Su Mo withdrew her gaze from the car window and shot a sideways glance at the prying paw.
“I’m fine…” — shook it off
Her tone was irritable, yet she sighed again, staring blankly out the window.
Lin Mu looked understanding. “Are you feeling uncomfortable, suddenly not knowing what to do?”
Su Mo abruptly turned, raising an eyebrow, as if to say, How did you know?
Lin Mu waved her hand casually. “Oh, sister, I understand you.”
Su Mo froze, her eyes flickering.
“I understand you.” These three simple words, when they reached Su Mo’s ears, were like a stone tossed into the lake of her heart, sending ripples through it. It was a complex feeling, even making her nose sting, wanting to throw herself into this person’s arms and cry her heart out.
Her voice trembled. “You…”
“You’re just feeling empty, what’s the big deal?” — poked her head out, seeking praise
???
Excellent, silly Alpha, typical of you. You’re dead to me, I tell you!
Su Mo remained composed. With repeated occurrences, she had even started getting used to it.
She calmly raised her hands, and under Lin Mu’s bewildered gaze, gently cupped her cheeks. Then, with a forceful pull, she angrily ruffled the husky’s head.
“Come on, what did you just say? Say it again, I want to hear it…” smiles.jpg
“Mmm, no, wo…”
Lin Mu’s features were distorted from the pulling, her thin lips stretched into a sausage shape, saliva almost escaping.
“I’m sorry, I was wrong!”
Lin Mu decisively yielded, closing her eyes, pressing down on Su Mo’s hands, finally managing to utter the full apology.
Unbeknownst to them, the distance between them had become very close due to the rough handling, leaving only a fist’s width. Su Mo was cupping Lin Mu’s face, and Lin Mu had her eyes closed, looking as if she was about to…
Su Mo suddenly snapped back to reality, her heart pounding. She pushed the magnified face away, running a hand through her hair to mask her fluster.
“Ahem, tell me, what was your mistake?”
Lin Mu cautiously opened one eye. Seeing Su Mo pull away, she finally relaxed.
“I shouldn’t have said you were empty…”
“Mmm…” A dagger-like glare was shot her way.
“No, I mean, you just lost your goal for a moment!” She stole another glance at Su Mo’s face. Seeing no reaction, Lin Mu dared to continue.
“Although one old chauvinist Alpha was taken down, there are still thousands upon thousands of old chauvinist Alphas in the world. Look at those people just now; if it weren’t for the conditions you threw out at the end, they probably would have wanted to resist to the bitter end!”
Lin Mu earnestly lectured, “So, the revolution has not yet succeeded, comrades still need to work hard! Don’t you want to prove yourself, turn the tables, and make those old chauvinist Alphas truly convinced? Become a President Omega, and let thousands of Omegas see that Omegas have risen!”
Lin Mu’s demeanor, while displaying “the light of righteousness” on her face, sounded suspiciously like a pyramid scheme’s brainwashing manifesto.
However, the vision she painted did somewhat sway Su Mo.
How unfair this world was to Omegas, how difficult it was for Omegas to rise—one could glimpse it from her own experience.
The most terrifying thing in the world wasn’t a lack of ability, but having ability with no avenues for advancement. For a position, between Alphas and Omegas of equal ability, whom would an employer choose? Omegas have poorer physical fitness, estrus periods, maternity leave, and various uncertain factors. Of course, Alphas are more cost-effective.
Such unspoken rules were evident in all aspects of society, leading to anger but powerlessness.
Su Mo fell into deep thought. Lin Mu secretly glanced at her, smugly crossing her legs.
As a writer, I always study the characters’ psychology. Su Mo’s current state is basically that of a protagonist who has exacted a great revenge, then sheds her hatred and loses her life’s goal. I might not have ten such characters, but I have a few. The best way to deal with it is to set a new small goal.
However, I wasn’t just talking nonsense. These are basically what the female lead originally did: funding research for new inhibitors, artificial pheromones, etc. Even though the female lead might figure out this goal herself in a couple of days, it doesn’t hurt that I have foreknowledge. Inserting myself and gaining some goodwill isn’t bad, right?
As cannon fodder, to cling to the female lead’s thigh, I even have to moonlight as a spiritual mentor. It’s tough!
“You’re an Alpha, why are you always so concerned about Omega matters?”
Lin Mu’s expression stiffened as she met Su Mo’s scrutinizing gaze.
“Oh, I just can’t stand injustice. I can’t stand the way those Alphas show off. We’re all sisters, don’t be a stranger!”
The fox narrowed her eyes. “Oh, you hate Alphas?”
“Hate them! What’s so good about those stinky Alphas? Always causing trouble. I’m sick of Alphas. I really don’t understand why Omegas like them.” The husky nodded vehemently.
Aren’t girls fragrant enough, soft enough?!
Su Mo lightly tapped her cheek twice with her fingertips, her gaze meaningful. “Sick of Alphas? But… didn’t you say you were AA-loving just a few days ago? How did you become ‘sick of Alphas’ today?”
“Huh?” Lin Mu’s mind went blank for a second. After a moment of recollection, it seemed… there was such a thing!
She swallowed nervously. “Well, it’s true I like Alphas, but not male Alphas—female Alphas!”
Su Mo raised an eyebrow in surprise. “This still differentiates between male Alphas and female Alphas??”
“Of course!” Lin Mu asserted righteously.
“Male Alphas and female Alphas are definitely different. Female Alphas are the type who look cool on the outside, but are gentle, considerate, and understanding older sisters privately. You wouldn’t understand!”
Full of confidence, brimming with beautiful aspirations for female Alphas.
It made Su Mo reluctant to speak and shatter her illusion.
“Female Alphas, huh…”
What if female Alphas are the same?
Of course, there are good Alphas in the world, and there are strange Alphas like Lin Mu. But even wrapped in the different skins of the sexes, whether male or female, an Alpha is an Alpha; their essence will not change.
